2015 Nissan Pathfinder problems
The Nissan Pathfinder is a range of sport utility vehicles manufactured by Nissan since 1986. Until the third-generation model, the Pathfinder is based on Nissan's compact pickup truck platform which it shares with the Navara/Frontier. The front end of the D21 (first generation) and R51 (third generation) Pathfinder is notably identical with the Navara/Frontier up until the B-pillars.
The Pathfinder was marketed as the Nissan Terrano (Japanese: 日産・テラノ, Hepburn: Nissan Terano) outside North America. Beginning in 2004, the R51 series was marketed internationally as the Pathfinder.
In 2012, the R52 series Pathfinder was released as a three-row crossover SUV based on the unibody Nissan D platform, moving away from the body-on-frame chassis format. The role of a mid-size body-on-frame SUV in Nissan's global lineup was passed to the Terra/X-Terra, which was released in 2018 and based on the D23 series Navara.

Common 2015 Nissan Pathfinder problems
The 2015 Nissan Pathfinder has been reported to have several common problems based on complaints from owners. Here are the details of the most frequently reported issues:
- Check Engine Light Due to Faulty Fuel Level Sensor: The check engine light often comes on due to a faulty fuel level sensor, which has been reported by 319 people. This issue can be caused by a variety of factors, including a malfunctioning fuel pump, a damaged fuel level sending unit, or a problem with the vehicle's wiring. If left unaddressed, this issue can lead to poor fuel efficiency, difficulty starting the engine, and even stalling while driving.
- Noise From the Front of the Engine: Another common problem with the 2015 Nissan Pathfinder is a noise coming from the front of the engine, which has been reported by 139 people. This issue can be caused by a variety of factors, including a damaged radiator fan, a failing water pump, or a problem with the vehicle's timing chain. If left unaddressed, this issue can lead to overheating, engine damage, and even complete engine failure.
- Sudden Stops, Random Shaking, and Violent Jerking: A class action lawsuit has been filed against Nissan, alleging that the 2015-2018 Nissan Pathfinder experiences sudden stops, random shaking, and violent jerking while accelerating. This issue has been attributed to a defect in the automatic emergency braking system, which can cause the vehicle to suddenly stop or slow down without warning. This issue can be particularly dangerous, as it can lead to accidents and injuries.
- Transmission Problems: Transmission problems have been reported as the worst issue found in Nissan Pathfinder SUVs, with many owners reporting shaking, jerking, and stalling while driving. This issue has been attributed to a defect in the continuously variable transmission (CVT), which can cause the vehicle to suddenly shift or slip out of gear. This issue can be particularly dangerous, as it can lead to accidents and injuries.
- Brake Problems: Nissan Pathfinder SUVs have been reported to stop at random, which has been attributed to a defect in the automatic emergency braking system. This issue can be particularly dangerous, as it can lead to accidents and injuries.
- Electrical Problems: Nissan Pathfinder drivers have reported starting issues, such as starter relay failure, and other electrical problems such as faulty alternator, nonfunctioning cruise control, and the corrosion of batteries in the vehicles. If electrical problems repeatedly appear in a vehicle despite multiple dealership visits, it may be considered a lemon.
- AC Compressor Failure: Many owners of the 2013 to 2015 Pathfinder reported that the compressor in the air conditioner had failed and stopped working, which was necessary to replace and recharge the system .
- Cooling Fan Assembly Noise: The cooling fan assembly can get noisy and may need to be replaced, with symptoms of weird noise coming from the front of the engine and sounding like a card in spokes or clacking .
- Broken or Dysfunctional Inner Door Handle: The repair is fairly simple and the part is not very expensive, but it is a common issue in the 2013 to 2015 Pathfinder .
- Rear End Vibration or Jutter: The rear end of the four-wheel drive Pathfinder may vibrate or jutter when making slow turns on dry roads, which could be due to an issue with the rear final drive's electric control coupling .
In conclusion, the 2015 Nissan Pathfinder has several common problems that have been reported by owners, including check engine light due to faulty fuel level sensor, noise from the front of the engine, sudden stops, random shaking, and violent jerking, transmission problems, brake problems, electrical problems, AC compressor failure, cooling fan assembly noise, broken or dysfunctional inner door handle, and rear end vibration or jutter. If you own a 2015 Nissan Pathfinder and are experiencing any of these issues, it is important to have them addressed by a qualified mechanic as soon as possible to prevent further damage and ensure the safety of yourself and others on the road.

My engine is still continuing to do the same thing. No codes were thrown past 2 times either
POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-05
- VIN: 5N1AR2MN0FC
- Components: POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE
- Summary: It begins shaking, jolting and shuddering while driving; started off happening at take off; then progressed to anytime speed was under 35mph; now, it does it often throughout all speeds. Nissan states it needs a new transmission which was quoted to cost $6,600+tax. The vehicle trade-in value is only $5,000ish prior to these symptoms. Vehicle has less than 117,500 miles and all maintenance and fluids have been routinely changed throughout vehicle's lifespan. This CVT issue seems to be ongoing therefore Nissan and other makes should not be allowed to put these into vehicles that are so costly and these transmissions begin to give problems while vehicles are still under warranty. Need assistance in fixing the costly transmission and Nissan should have a discount on this faulty transmissions that they knew had issues. No warning lamps or messages given; symptoms were found when taken in at 117,000 miles and stated transmission needs to be replaced. Warning lamps and signals should have been given to owner to prevent the damage done to transmission. Warning lamps do not show anything wrong with vehicle; however, the jolting, jumping and sputtering is very dangerous during driving and may cause accidents in braking, acceleration and/or heavy traffic flow.

- Summary: I own a 2015 Nissan Pathfinder with a CVT transmission that has gone out. I bought the vehicle used in October 2022. Obviously this class action lawsuit and claim deadline had already passed - when I bought the car and until my transmission failed, I had no idea about the problems or the lawsuit. Therefore I have never opted out or into the lawsuit because I did not even own the car yet. The vehicle only has 55,000 miles. It's within the original 60,000 mile warranty, but Nissan refused to cover it because the 60 month warranty expired in May 2023. I've raised a case with Nissan Consumer Affairs to no avail. Nissan Cedar Park dealership where it's at has confirmed the transmission failure through no fault of our own. What recourse do I have? I have seen your CAMPAIGN BULLETIN: CVT Warranty Extension Reference: CVT Date: August 30, 2022 It seems to me clearly from that, that Nissan's CVT warranty for my vehicle has been extended and should be covered. How do I pursue getting them to make these warranty repairs? Can you help?

2015 Nissan Pathfinder recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 5 recalls for different components of the 2015 Nissan Pathfinder.
- Manufacturer: Nissan North America, Inc.
- Components: LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:HOOD:LATCH
- Summary: Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2013-2016 Pathfinder vehicles. On certain Pathfinder vehicles, the secondary hood latch may malfunction and remain in the unlatched, unsecured, position when the hood is closed.
- Consequence: An unsecured hood could unexpectedly open while driving, obstructing the driver's view, and increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: The remedy is in development. Interim owner notification letters were mailed July 18, 2022. A second notice will be mailed once the remedy is available. The remedy is expected in March 2025. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall are R22A2 and R22A3.
- Manufacturer: Nissan North America, Inc.
- Components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BRAKE LIGHTS:SWITCH
- Summary: Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2013-2015 Nissan Pathfinder vehicles. The location of the brake light switch may cause the brake light switch relay to repeatedly open and close. Overtime, this can cause the relay to stick in the "ON" position, with the brake lights remaining illuminated even when the brakes are not applied. Additionally, this may interfere with the brake-shift interlock, allowing the driver to shift the vehicle out of the "Park" position, without depressing the brake pedal.
- Consequence: Continual illumination of the brake lights can prevent other drivers from realizing the vehicle is actually slowing down, increasing the risk of a crash. With the brake override activated, the driver will not be able to accelerate normally, increasing the risk of a crash. The driver can shift the vehicle out of the "PARK" position without depressing the brake, allowing the vehicle to rollaway, increasing the risk of injury.
- Remedy: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and, as necessary, either re-install the brake light switch or swap positions with the Automatic Speed Control Device (ASCD) switch; depending on the model year vehicle. In addition, the brake light relay will be replaced with a new one. All repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began March 1, 2021. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall PC786. Note: this recall supersedes 16V-380.
- Manufacturer: Nissan North America, Inc.
- Components: AIR BAGS:SENSOR:OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION
- Summary: Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Nissan Maxima, 2013-2016 Nissan Altima, NV200, LEAF, Sentra, and Pathfinder, 2014-2016 Nissan NV200 Taxi, Infiniti QX60, QX60 Hybrid, and Q50 Hybrid, 2014-2017 Nissan Rogue and Infiniti Q50, 2015-2016 Nissan Murano, Murano Hybrid, and Chevrolet City Express, 2014-2015 Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid, and 2013 Infiniti JX35 vehicles. In these vehicles, the front seat passenger Occupant Classification System (OCS) may incorrectly classify an adult passenger as a child or classify the seat as empty despite it being occupied. As a result, the passenger frontal air bag may be turned off and not deploy in the event of a crash.
- Consequence: If the passenger frontal air bag does not deploy as intended in the event of a crash, the passenger is at an increased risk of injury.
- Remedy: Nissan will notify their owners. Chevrolet City Express owners will be notified by General Motors. Dealers will reprogram the Air Bag Control Unit (ACU) and OCS Electronic Control Unit (ECU) in Altima, Maxima, Murano, Rogue, and Sentra vehicles, and replace the OCS ECU in LEAF, NV200, NV200 Taxi, Pathfinder, Infiniti Q50, JX35, and QX60 and Chevrolet City Express vehicles, free of charge. Interim notices were sent to owners on May 31, 2016. Owners will receive a second notice when remedy parts become available. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669, Infiniti customer service at 1-888-833-3216 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020.
- Manufacturer: Nissan North America, Inc.
- Components: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL
- Summary: Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Altima and Pathfinder vehicles, 2013-2014 Nissan Sentra vehicles, 2013 Infiniti JX35 vehicles, 2014-2015 Infiniti QX60 vehicles and 2014 Infiniti QX60 Hybrid vehicles. The affected vehicles received an incorrect occupant classification system (OCS) control unit during a repair. These OCS control units may incorrectly classify the front passenger seat as empty, when it is occupied by an adult.
- Consequence: If the OCS does not detect an adult occupant in the passenger seat, the passenger air bag would be deactivated. Failure of the passenger airbag to deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of injury to the passenger.
- Remedy: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will update the OCS software, free of charge. The recall began on November 30, 2015. Owners may contact Nissan at 1-800-647-7261.
- Manufacturer: Nissan North America, Inc.
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Nissan Pathfinder and Infiniti QX60 vehicles manufactured August 14, 2014, to November 5, 2014, and 2014-2015 Nissan Rogue vehicles manufactured August 12, 2014, to November 15, 2014. During the assembly process, the front wheel hub assembly fasteners may not have been properly torqued.
- Consequence: The under-torqued fasteners may result in a brake caliper separating from the wheel assembly causing a reduction in braking performance or reduced steering control. These conditions increase the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles and tighten any loose bolts to the proper specification, free of charge. The recall began February 2, 2015. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.
Negative 2015 Nissan Pathfinder car reviews
Positive 2015 Nissan Pathfinder car reviews

As a fellow car enthusiast who races sports cars and karts on the weekends, I completely understand the importance of finding the right car. Despite some negative reviews, I wanted to share my positive experience with our 2015 model. We've put 7000 miles on it in the past 6 months and couldn't be happier with our choice. I believe any issues with the CVT have been resolved in the first 2 model years. In fact, just a few weeks after purchasing it, we took it on a 2000 mile road trip with our two small kids and it performed flawlessly. I would jump at the chance to take it on another long road trip. With the cruise set to 78mph, I was able to achieve 26 mpg in 2wd mode, making it the best highway road trip vehicle we've ever had. Our previous car, a 2011 Forester, never quite lived up to Subaru's slogan of being

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with the car we bought in 2015 - it was the platinum model. I found the city mpg to be 19 and the highway mpg to be 26, which was great. The acceleration was also impressive and made passing other cars a breeze. The space inside the car was really good and I found it to be one of the most comfortable 3rd row SUVs in its segment. However, I did notice that the cabin wasn't quite as close to our A6 and there was quite a bit of outside noise. Additionally, I found it hard to concentrate due to the staring, which was a bit of a problem. Perhaps there were some issues with our particular car. Overall, though, I still think it's a great car and would recommend it to others.

Hey there! Gramma feels safe taking the kids over the bridge and through the mountains, even with snow and ice.

Pros: This SUV is easier to steer than most others, and it offers a very comfortable ride. It also has good acceleration and lots of space, as well as great tech and safety features. Cons: While it may not be the most fuel efficient option, it more than makes up for it with its many other benefits. Additionally, while the leather seats may not be the softest, they still provide ample comfort. Finally, while the Bluetooth connection may not be perfect, it is still a great feature to have.

I have extensive experience with Nissan vehicles, having owned a 1998 Quest, 2005 Quest, and a 2011 Murano with 90K miles. While I initially had high hopes for the brand, my confidence was shaken when I purchased a brand new Pathfinder that experienced airbag recalls and required rear differential replacement. Despite experiencing shaking and shuddering with the CVT at just 30K miles, the dealer was unable to identify any problems. Unfortunately, when I traded in the vehicle just 21 months later, I lost $12K. As a result of my negative experience with the CVT, I am hesitant to purchase any Nissan vehicle that uses this technology.

If you are thinking of purchasing a Nissan, it may be worth considering a model without the CVT transmission. Unfortunately, we had to replace the transmission on our 2015 Nissan Pathfinder after only 80k miles. After speaking with a transmission repair specialist, they informed us that CVT transmissions are not very reliable. It seems as though Nissan did not conduct enough research and development before releasing this product. While this is the second transmission we have had to replace, we are now considering other options. Thank you for your time.

I recently leased a new '15 Pathfinder SL w/ Premium Package despite reading about some issues online with '13 and '14 MY transmission. I chose the Pathfinder because it felt more comfortable than the Santa Fe, had better fit and finish than the Explorer, and I was able to get a better price/deal than the Highlander. Sitting inside the Pathfinder feels like a luxurious experience. Although I have had a couple of issues with the transmission and some noise while driving, I am still enjoying the car. After owning it for 28,000 miles, I find it to be big, roomy, and super comfortable to drive, even as a daily driver. However, I feel that there are too many little things with this car to justify its $42k price tag. I've had air bag issues, trim issues, and the Bluetooth is not working well. The overall fit and finish just isn't holding up, and I found the exterior paint quality to be of low quality compared to other cars on the road. I would not recommend buying a used one, but overall, I am still happy with my decision to lease it.

In 2016, I purchased a brand new 2015 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum. For the first few years, everything was great, but then I started experiencing some issues. The fan stopped working and there were some strange noises coming from the gas tank. Additionally, the hood would vibrate and the AC wasn't functioning properly. Unfortunately, I ended up trading it in for a Murano, which I now regret. I recently sold it to Carvana and am now looking to purchase a Toyota. While my experience with the Pathfinder was not great, I believe that everyone's experience may differ. Thank you for considering my thoughts.

I recently purchased a Nissan and was excited to test out its fuel efficiency. However, I have been disappointed with the gas mileage as it seems to be consuming more fuel than expected. Despite the advertised 22 miles to the gallon, I am only getting around 13-15 miles in the city and 18-19 on the highway. I have even researched the issue and found some people suggesting that the car needs to go through a break-in period, but I am still skeptical. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
