- Summary: Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2020-2023 Titan, 2020-2022 Frontier, and 2023 Z vehicles. The transmission parking pawl may not engage when the vehicle is shifted into park, which can result in a vehicle rollaway.
- Consequence: A vehicle rollaway increases the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Owners are advised to apply the parking brake every time they park their vehicle. Dealers will perform the applicable repairs below, free of charge: Model Year 2020-2022 Frontier vehicles: reprogram Transmission Control Module (TCM) Model Year 2020-2022 Titan vehicles: reprogram TCM and Engine Control Module (ECM) Model Year 2023 Titan vehicles: reprogram TCM Model Year 2023 Z vehicles: reprogram TCM. Great looking truck! It's rugged, well-made, and thousands less than other mid-size trucks. You get a solid truck with just the right equipment and technology. The cabin is quiet and the front seats are comfortable. The 4.0 6 cyl and transmission run and shift smoothly with plenty of power. The midnight edition trim is what sold me on this truck and it fits in my garage. I'm so happy with my 4x4!

I recently went in for an oil change for my 2015 Frontier SV 4x4 with Value Package and 54,000 miles. While I was there, a salesman approached me and asked if they could assess my truck and see what it's worth. I found out that the Frontier is a great inexpensive truck and they wanted it on their lot. I let them do their thing while I waited and, ten minutes later, he asked me what I might move to if this would work. After dreaming of a Platinum Reserve Titan, I mentioned the Pro-4X in Cayenne Red (a new shade of red this year). We were out on a test drive shortly after. Needless to say, I am now the proud owner of a new truck, at the same payment I was at before, with a factory warranty for the next few years, at least. There are some differences between my 2015 and 2019 models, such as the interior color going from tan to grey, which looks much better and newer just with the color change. The trip computer is nice and the 8-way adjustable seat is so much better. The navigation/Rockford system is also nice to have stock. Although the 2015 had a 10I don't see any issue with buying a Frontier, except that everyone might wonder why you bought a '15 year old' truck. However, I can tell you that I chose it for its cost and reliability. The coolant/transmission fluid issue was fixed a while ago, around 8 years ago. I don't understand why the media disregards this vehicle. How many electronics do you want to have to deal with potentially failing within 10 years? This truck is different, as you really only have to deal with the rear sonar sensors if they touch anything too aggressively. I would have had to spend an extra ~$3000 to get a comparably equipped Tacoma, and I'm not really interested in the rest. Maybe the Ranger, but not until next year or the year after that...

I recently purchased a 2019 Midnight Edition Frontier in gunmetal with a The V6 engine of the truck is highly responsive and can effortlessly get the vehicle up to highway speed. Nissan's entertainment system is excellent and has been flawless in streaming music and audio books. To date, I have no complaints. An update as of 12/28/2020, my Frontier has 17,300 miles and has required nothing more than routine maintenance. There have been no issues whatsoever. The tires and brake pads show only about 20% wear. We have used it for towing a camping trailer on several trips to the Carolinas and Tennessee. It is quiet and comfortable on the highways. Thus far, it has proven to be capable and utterly reliable.

My son purchased a brand new Nissan Frontier 4x4 with a manual transmission. Unfortunately, the clutch failed at around 30000 miles. Despite some initial resistance from the dealer, they eventually agreed to replace the parts, although labor costs were not covered. After the repair, the Nissan manager advised my son that he should avoid purchasing a Nissan truck with a manual transmission due to potential mechanical issues. This was surprising news to my son, as he had not been informed of this when he made the purchase. As a result, he decided to trade it in at the Toyota dealer.

I strongly advise against purchasing a new vehicle. My 2007 Nissan Xterra was much more reliable compared to the truck I recently purchased. Within the first 5 months, I experienced multiple oil pressure losses and issues with the diff lock not engaging for low. The diff lock light flickers and blinks, and the ABS system failed, all within 18,000 miles. Additionally, I encountered several electrical issues, such as the lights dimming and the AC stopping working. The rear differential also started leaking within the first two months. In my opinion, it is much better to buy a used vehicle and replace the radiator, rather than investing in this new setup.

In May 2021, I purchased a certified pre-owned 2020 Nissan Frontier SV Truck with less than 3,500 miles. Unfortunately, in January 2022 at 18,500 miles, the engine started making a huge noise and stalled while I was out of state. Despite calling my dealership 20 times, I was unable to get through until they finally gave me the NISSAN warranty service phone number to call for assistance. Although it took some time, I was eventually able to get help and was provided with a rental car to return home. While I did have to pay for the rental car upfront, I am hopeful that I will be reimbursed since my vehicle is still under warranty. Although it has been frustrating to deal with this issue, I am grateful for the support I have received from Nissan and my dealership. I am looking forward to getting my truck back on the road soon!My Nissan Frontier SV Truck has been in the shop for 75 days due to engine parts being on backorder. Unfortunately, Nissan Corp has informed me that they cannot offer me a good trade-in value for my vehicle to upgrade to a new one. Additionally, they have stated that they will not reimburse me for the $1,265 in rental car fees that I am owed until my vehicle is fixed and the case is closed. I recently visited Indiana just after Christmas and was provided with a 4X4 SV truck by Alamo. Although I wasn't initially thrilled with driving a truck, as I planned to drive to Ohio and Michigan before returning to Indiana and didn't need a truck or the low mpg, the 4X4 proved to be a great asset during the last couple of days when there was some messy snow. I had never used 4 wheel drive before, but after reading the manual, it was easy to carefully switch when needed. During my trip, I drove mostly on the highway and got approximately 20 mpg when using 2wd. In poor weather with more city driving and using 4wd more often, it was about 17 mpg. Although the turn radius was poor, the backup camera was a great help. The ride was okay, but it felt very bouncy on bumps. I previously owned a 2013 Toyota Tacoma 2wd for a short time and I liked that truck much better. The extended cab is nice for the additional seating, but it does hurt side visibility if you are checking your shoulder on lane changes.
