Common 2019 Nissan Frontier problems
The 2019 Nissan Frontier has been reported to have several common problems based on complaints from owners. Here are the details of these issues:
- Engine Faults: Some owners have reported a clunking noise and juddering when activating the clutch at slow speeds or over speed bumps. This issue is believed to be caused by a defective powertrain. Nissan has conducted quality checks with the crankshaft, but a long-term resolution has not been found.
- Cooling Exhaust System: Drivers have reported problems with the exhaust system since the 2016 model. The issue is believed to originate from the manifold bolts, but a permanent solution has not been found. Nissan advises checking the manifold bolts at the dealership.
- Navigational System: A freezing screen is a common occurrence for many Frontier owners. The issue appears to lie in the computer system, but some dealers are failing to deal with what they see as an intermittent issue.
- Seat Barriers: Drivers have reported that the manual seat track adjustment system does not always lock into place, which is a serious safety concern.
- Suspension, Service Brakes, and Steering Systems: There have been faults logged in regard to these systems, but specific details are not provided in the search results.
- A/C System Not Working: The most widespread complaint from 2019 Frontier owners is the A/C system not working, usually caused by the A/C compressor having a clutch slipping issue. Rebuilding the compressor costs around $450, depending on local labor rates.
- Vibrations at Highway Speeds: Some 2019 Frontier models have reported vibrations at roughly 35,000 miles. The problem is usually caused by some worn out suspension components including bushings. Fixing the suspension and replacing the bushings costs roughly $500.
- Excessive Noise from the Wheels: Worn-out wheel bearings are the most common source of excessive noise from the wheels, which can cause a howling noise. Replacing the wheel bearings costs around $400.
- Recall: The 2019 Nissan Frontier has one recall, which covers the backup camera failing to display an image on the screen. Nissan will update backup camera software on affected models for free.
- Brake Failure: Premature pad/rotor wear, pulsation or vibration, antilock system, parking brake, master cylinder, calipers, squeaking, and brake failure have been reported as issues related to the braking system.
- Regenerative Braking: This issue is related to the antilock system and parking brake, but specific details are not provided in the search results.

POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-09-23
- VIN: 1N6AD0CW9KN
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: I was driving a 2019 Nissan Frontier and after pulling out of a parking garage the vehicle was failing to accelerate properly and the engine was jerking. I immediately pulled over and discovered the high pressure AC line had a hairline crack in it and the refrigerant oil sprayed all over the serpentine belt which caused the serpentine belt to slip. This was affecting the alternator voltage and causing improper acceleration. Once I wiped the refrigerant oil off the serpentine belt the car performed normally. This is the 3rd time in 37,000 miles that the refrigerant line (Nissan part # 92440-EA200) has experienced a hairline crack in the exact same location every time. The first failure was at 9,833 miles and the line was replaced. The second failure was at 17,662 miles and the line was replaced. The car was not driven on the road immediately after the first and second line ruptures and the oil was able to dry off the serpentine belt. The third failure happened at 37,000 miles.

AIR BAGS PROBLEM

- VIN: 1N6AD0EV4KN
- Components: AIR BAGS
- Summary: I took my 2019 Nissan Frontier with 56,000 miles to the Freedom Nissan in south Burlington VT on 1/25/2022 due to the airbag light flashing red. Scanned the vehicle and found DTC B00A0 - they preformed diagnosis on code. Found Occupant Sensor Failure. Will need to replace passenger seat bottom due to OCS sensor but within seat. My complaint is that Nissan is not covering this serious safety issue under warranty because the truck's three year basic warranty expired November 13, 2021 and exceeded 36,000 miles. I strongly disagree due the serious safety issue and with the long history of Nissan's Occupant Sensor Failures they have had over many years. I have called Nissan's customer service and was told they would not cover the cost to install a new bottom seat. My case number with Nissan Customer Service is 45640533
STEERING,WHEELS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2019-10-12
- VIN: 1N6AD0EV2KN
- Components: STEERING,WHEELS
- Summary: IN OCTOBER OF 2019 WE PURCHASED A NEW NISSAN FRONTIER WITH THE ROCKY RIDGE PACKAGE, WHICH INCLUDES LARGER MUD TYPE MICKEY THOMSON TIRES. WE HAD A VIBRATION AND DRIVING ISSUE. WE TOOK IT IN FOR REPAIRS. THE DEALER RE-BALANCED THE TIRES AND IT GOT A BIT BETTER BUT NOT GONE. WE LOOKED AT THE TIRES AND SAW THAT THEY CALL FOR UP TO 80PSI. WE INCREASED THE TIRE PRESSURE AND THE TRUCK BEGAN TO DRIVE BETTER BUT THE TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. WE RETURNED IT TO THE DEALER. THEY LOWERED THE PRESSURE TO 35PSI PER THE GUIDE ON THE DRIVER DOOR FRAME. THE TRUCK DROVE SLOPPY ON OUR TRIP HOME (APPX. 55 MILES). WE THEN CONTACTED THE TIRE MANUFACTURE (MICKEY THOMSON) THEY TOOK OUR INFORMATION AND SAID "DO NOT RUN AT 35PSI. THIS COULD CAUSE A FAILURE." THEY SAID RUN AT 50PSI MINIMUM FOR THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE. THE TRUCK NOW DRIVES GOOD BUT THE TIRE WARNING LIGHT WILL NOT GO OUT. WE HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALER MANY TIMES BUT HAVE YET TO GET A SOLUTION. MY CONCERN IS THAT THIS TRUCK WAS NOT PROPERLY LABELED OR SET UP FOR THE TIRES IT WAS SOLD WITH AND THE TIRE WARNING SYSTEM IS NOW OF NO VALUE TO US SINCE IT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME. ALSO NONE OF THE DECALS FOR TIRE PRESSURE AND SIZE (FACTORY OR ROCKY RIDGE) DESCRIBE THE CORRECT SIZE OR TRUE SAFE OPERATION TIRE PRESSURE.

BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL IS EXCESSIVE AND PUSHING PEDAL FARTHER, WHILE IN MOTION, DOES NOT INCREASE BRAKING FORCE. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE TO NISSAN, AND UPON TAKING THE VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP, IT WAS STATED THAT THIS COMPLAINT IS NORMAL OPERATION FOR FRONTIER BRAKES.
POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2019-09-28
- VIN: 1N6AD0EV1KN
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: AFTER 9/19 PURCHASE, FOUND THAT USING AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION GEAR SELECTOR FROM PARK INTO DRIVE INTERMITTENTLY REFLECTED '4' ON THE DASHBOARD AND WOULD NOT ENGAGE INTO THE SELECTED GEAR. I FOUND THAT I HAD TO EITHER RETURN THE SHIFTER TO THE 'P' POSITION AND/OR RETURN TO THE 'P' POSITION FOLLOWED BY TURNING THE ENGINE OFF BEFORE REATTEMPTING. 2019 Nissan Frontier recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 1 recalls for different components of the 2019 Nissan Frontier.
- Manufacturer: Nissan North America, Inc.
- Components: BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA
- Summary: Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Nissan Altima, Armada, Frontier, Kicks, Leaf, Maxima, Murano, NV, NV200, Pathfinder, Rogue, Rogue Sport, Sentra, Titan, Titan Diesel, Versa Note and Versa Sedan vehicles, as well as Infiniti Q50, Q60, QX30 and QX80 vehicles. Additionally included are 2019 Nissan GT-R and Taxi and Infiniti QX50, QX60, Q70, Q70L vehicles. The back-up camera and display settings can be adjusted such that the rear view image is no longer visible and the system will retain that setting the next time the vehicle is placed in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."
- Consequence: The lack of an image in the back-up camera display increases the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Nissan will notify owners in phases, having dealers update the back-up camera settings software, free of charge. The recall began November 11, 2019 and all affected VINs should be activated. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669 or INFINITI customer service at 1-800-662-6200.

2019 SV 4x4 value package MPG is okay, averaging 20-21 on the highway. The turning radius is just okay, but it fits easily in the garage and pulls my boat without any problems. It performs great in the snow. Having driven a F150, Ram 1500, Tahoe, and a Tundra in the last 20 years, I can confidently say that I really like the Frontier. It's a good basic truck that gets the job done.

The first Nissan I ever owned, glad I upgraded to the PRO 4x. It has everything we need inside and it can go anywhere. It can even pull a 16-foot trailer without any issues. The gas mileage averages at 19mpg. The only thing I don't like is that it seems harder to remove all the bugs from the grill and front bumper.

I recently purchased a 2019 Nissan Frontier SV 4X4 as a work truck, and it has quickly become an integral part of our lives. When we needed to move to a new state 1500 miles away, we purchased a travel trailer and made a few hitch modifications to the truck to accommodate it. We loaded up the trailer with all of our essentials and hit the road. Throughout the entire journey, the truck pulled the 4000 pound trailer with ease, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I highly recommend this truck and want to thank Nissan for producing such a reliable vehicle. You truly deserve this positive review!

Replaced 4 Cyl. RAM Promaster City, (not needed anymore) with a used 2019 Nissan crew cab Frontier with a 6 cyl engine. Although I do miss the better gas mileage of the Promaster City, I am enjoying the smoother and quieter ride of the Frontier. However, there are a few things that I find annoying or odd. Firstly, the interior door handle is placed too far back, making it difficult to reach. It would be better if it was placed more towards the middle or front of the door. Secondly, the downhill assist works by lightly applying the brakes, which could cause overheating on long downhill grades. I think it would be better if it worked via the automatic transmission, preventing it from upshifting. Thirdly, like most newer vehicles, there is no CD player built in. Lastly, the LCD panel on the radio only has two brightness settings, Night and Day, with the Night setting being too bright. Overall, I am enjoying my new Nissan Frontier despite these minor inconveniences.

This is a fantastic no-frills truck!

I recently purchased a Nissan Frontier without taking a good look at it beforehand. After a couple of days, I realized that I may have made a mistake. The space between the back and front seats is too tight, the steering is a little too hard, and the gas mileage per gallon is too low. In comparison to other cars on the market, the Nissan Frontier falls behind. In hindsight, I would have been better off purchasing a similar car from Honda, even if it was 3 or 4 thousand dollars more expensive. For those looking to buy a vehicle of this type, I would advise against purchasing a Nissan Frontier.

The issue of the infotainment screen freezing and rebooting while streaming music from Spotify using an iPhone 8 Plus via Bluetooth has been thoroughly investigated by two dealerships. Despite the extensive time spent on the issue, it has been identified as a known problem between the stereo and the most common make of smartphone on the planet. While there is currently no fix available, it is being worked on and a solution will be provided as soon as possible. It is important to note that this issue has been reported by other Frontier owners and is not unique to your vehicle. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work towards a resolution. Rest assured that we value your loyalty as a Nissan customer and will do everything in our power to ensure your satisfaction. Thank you for choosing Nissan.

I recently had the opportunity to drive a Nissan truck for a week while my RAM 1500 was in the body shop. Although the truck was newer, I found the build quality to be lacking and it felt quite outdated. The steering was noticeably heavier than what I was used to in my RAM. While I have been a fan of Nissan in the past and have driven many cars from this brand, I would have to decline if offered this particular truck for rental again.

I recently visited Indiana just after Christmas and was provided with a 4X4 SV truck by Alamo. Although I wasn't initially thrilled with driving a truck, as I planned to drive to Ohio and Michigan before returning to Indiana and didn't need a truck or the low mpg, the 4X4 proved to be a great asset during the last couple of days when there was some messy snow. I had never used 4 wheel drive before, but after reading the manual, it was easy to carefully switch when needed. During my trip, I drove mostly on the highway and got approximately 20 mpg when using 2wd. In poor weather with more city driving and using 4wd more often, it was about 17 mpg. Although the turn radius was poor, the backup camera was a great help. The ride was okay, but it felt very bouncy on bumps. I previously owned a 2013 Toyota Tacoma 2wd for a short time and I liked that truck much better. The extended cab is nice for the additional seating, but it does hurt side visibility if you are checking your shoulder on lane changes.

My son purchased a brand new Nissan Frontier 4x4 with a manual transmission. Unfortunately, the clutch failed at around 30000 miles. Despite some initial resistance from the dealer, they eventually agreed to replace the parts, although labor costs were not covered. After the repair, the Nissan manager advised my son that he should avoid purchasing a Nissan truck with a manual transmission due to potential mechanical issues. This was surprising news to my son, as he had not been informed of this when he made the purchase. As a result, he decided to trade it in at the Toyota dealer.
