The Mini Clubman is a subcompact executive car engineered and manufactured by German automaker BMW and sold under the Mini marque. The first-generation Clubman was introduced in 2007, as a variant of the Mini Hatch (Hardtop in the US). A commercial version called Clubvan was added to the range in 2012. The current second-generation model has been in production since 2015 and available with front- and all-wheel drive.
History
The use of the name "Clubman" is a departure from Mini tradition. "Clubman" was originally the name given to the 1970s facelift of the classic Mini, which mostly resulted in a squared-off front end, whereas the classic Mini estates had traditionally been named "Traveller" or "Countryman". However, BMW did not initially purchase the rights to use those names, and so decided to call its larger-variant "Clubman", a name which it did own rights to.
Sketches of a new estate version of the Mini were shown at the 2000 Paris Motor Show, and a rendering of the estate concept (internally named EXT), wore the Clubman name on the licence plate. The Clubman started out in development based on the first generation Mini Hatch (R50) before changing to the second gen Hatch (R56).

The car has exceeded expectations, with no issues after 4500 miles. It is the perfect city car, being easy to park, fuel-efficient, and fun to drive. Additionally, it can accommodate your belongings or friends. Although the brake feel is the only shortfall, the JCW is a more performance-oriented version. The brakes are too touchy for spirited driving, and even slight pedal pressure can upset the balance of the car. However, the stopping power is excellent with the 4 piston front brakes made by Brembo. Overall, this is a great car that I highly recommend. Don't hesitate to take the plunge!

"Pepper" is still new at about 5K so can't comment on what I consider the most important factor - reliability. So far so good, though. My wife talked me into buying the Clubman. I thought it was too expensive for what you get. And the options are too expensive and too numerous. However, the little beast has totally grown on me and made me a MINI convert. The S is fast enough for most enthusiasts and it handles like MINI says: Like a go-cart. It's small to be sure, but when you're inside it feels much bigger. Never thought I would say this, but I love this expensive toy car.

Although Minis are often considered city cars, they may not be the best option for navigating tight parking spaces due to their heavy doors. The steering, pedals, handbrake, and gearstick can also feel heavy, making it a bit of a challenge to drive in the city. Additionally, the engine can be quite loud and slow, which may not be ideal for Boston traffic. However, once you get above 30mph, the Mini is an absolute joy to drive on the highway and can handle turns with ease. It's worth noting that the dealer is very nice, and although there have been a few trips to the repair shop in the first 2,000 miles, the Mini is still a great car overall.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with my car. Recently, my lease was up on my 2006 JCW Royal Gray Cooper S with 38,000 miles. I was a little apprehensive about the change from a supercharged 210 HP to turbo charged 178 HP engine, but I'm happy to report that there isn't much difference other than saving $7K for the JCW upgrade. The new 2009 Clubman S arrived 8 weeks after ordering and it's much better than I expected!
