The Mercury Milan is a mid-size car that was marketed by the Mercury division of Ford Motor Company. Named after Milan, an Italian city, the Milan was sold across the 2006 to 2011 model years in a single generation. The smaller of two model lines developed to replace the Mercury Sable, it indirectly succeeded the Mercury Mystique as the smallest Mercury sedan.

Unveiled at the 2005 Chicago Auto Show, the Milan was the first new Mercury sedan nameplate introduced since 1995, and became the final nameplate introduced by the division. Coinciding with the 2010 closure of Mercury, the Milan ended sales after a shortened 2011 model year; the final vehicle was produced on December 17, 2010. The Milan was sold in the United States (including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands), Mexico, and the Middle East.

Throughout its production, the Milan was produced alongside the Ford Fusion at Hermosillo Stamping & Assembly in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-05-05
  • VIN: 3MEHM08Z07R
  • Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

I was driving it yesterday to merge onto a highway when suddenly I couldn’t pass 15 mph and was stuck witch cars beeping and zooming around me. I had to shut the car off wait and turn it back on. The amount of complaints I’ve seen about the same exact issue happening to people in the same exact car is ridiculous to not be a recall. I am almost certain it’s a throttle bottle issue. This needs to be looked into and investigated before ford comes across a lawsuit.

Corporate has never gotten back to him. My husband has called corporate 2 times and the 2 different ladies we spoke with said they find it odd that this is being a problem. The second lady we spoke with tried to get us a manager on the line to speak to. None of them answered their phones. She called Jeff at our for dealer and told him she could not get a manager to answer their phones or email. She told us someone would get back to us. The second call was on Aug 12. How do we get this take care of?

AIR BAGS PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2021-04-19
  • VIN: 3MEHM02197R
  • Components: AIR BAGS
  • Summary: FORD JUST NOTIFIED ME THAT THERE IS A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE 21S12 / NHTSA RECALL 21V-158 FOR THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG. THE ANSWER TO "WHAT IS THE RISK?" IS: "IF AN AIRBAG INFLATOR EXPLODES, SHARP METAL FRAGMENTS COULD STRIKE THE DRIVER OR OTHER OCCUPANTS CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH." AND, YET, "FORD HAS NOT ISSUED INSTRUCTIONS TO STOP DRIVING YOUR VEHICLE..." HOWEVER, THEY DO NOT HAVE REPLACEMENT PARTS YET FOR THIS VEHICLE AT THE MECHANIC SHOP THAT I HAVE USED FOR MANY YEARS! MY COMPLAINT IS THAT I AM NOW AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR, MY MAIN SOURCE OF TRANSPORTATION AS A RETIREE WIDOW. IN ADDITION, I AM AT A LOSS AS TO WHY THIS AIRBAG WAS NOT REPLACED WHEN THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG IN THESE VEHICLES WAS REPLACED BACK IN 2018. I AM JUST LUCKY THAT THE AIRBAG WAS NOT DEPLOYED WHEN I HAD A FRONT END COLLISION IN LATE 2012. I AM ASKING THAT THESE PARTS BE MADE AVAILABLE ASAP BECAUSE FRANKLY, I AM DISAPPOINTED IN FORD'S RESPONSE ONCE AGAIN TO THIS VERY SERIOUS SITUATION. THERE IS NO LONGER ANY EXCUSE FOR IT.

AIR BAGS,SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2021-03-25
  • VIN: 3MEHM02157R
  • Components: AIR BAGS,SERVICE BRAKES
  • Summary: MY [XXX] VEHICLE IS UNDER TWO RECALL NOTICES. ONE IS FOR FAULTY BRAKES, THE OTHER FOR A FAULTY DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG. I BELIEVE THE NHTSA NEEDS TO CAREFULLY CONSIDER THE CONSEQUENCES OF THIS COMBINATION OF DEFECTS. RIGHT WHEN YOU NEED THE ABS PROTECTION THE SYSTEM COULD FAIL POTENTIALLY CAUSING A CRASH AND AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. THIS COULD KILL THE DRIVER AND OTHERS IN THE CAR. UNLIKE THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG RECALL, THIS DEADLY COMBINATION RENDERS THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE. RECOMMEND NHTSA ORDER FOMOCO TO PROVIDE SUITABLE ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION TO AFFECTED CAR OWNERS UNTIL RECALL REPAIRS CAN BE EFFECTED. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 5 recalls for different components of the 2007 Mercury Milan.

2021-03-10
  • Manufacturer: Ford Motor Company
  • Components: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE
  • Summary: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2007-2011 Ranger, 2006-2012 Fusion, Lincoln Zephyr, Lincoln MKZ, 2006-2011 Mercury Milan, 2007-2010 Ford Edge, and Lincoln MKX vehicles. The driver's side air bag inflator may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling.
  • Consequence: An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants, resulting in serious injury or death.
  • Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver-side airbag inflator or module with an alternate one, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on April 9, 2021 for the passenger side, and November 14, 2022 for the driver side. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 21S12.

  • Summary: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2006-2010 Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan, Lincoln Zephyr and MKZ vehicles. The valves within the ABS Hydraulic Control Units (HCU) may react with brake fluids containing specific corrosion preventative additives. This reaction may cause the valves to not close properly.
  • Consequence: If the valves do not properly close, additional brake pedal travel may be required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
  • Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will flush the brake system with DOT 4 fluid and install a new brake fluid reservoir cap. In addition, the HCU will be tested to detect a possible stuck valve condition, replacing the HCU as necessary. All services will be performed free of charge. The recall began April 1, 2021. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19S54.

  • Consequence: An inflator rupture may result in metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
  • Remedy: Owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until the repair has been performed. Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger frontal air bag inflator, free of charge. • Manufacturer: Ford Motor Company
  • Park It: 1
  • Components: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:PASSENGER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE
  • Summary: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2007-2011 Ford Ranger vehicles, 2006-2011 Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan and Lincoln Zephyr/MKZ vehicles, 2007-2010 Ford Edge, Lincoln MKX vehicles, 2005-2006 Ford GT vehicles, and 2005-2011 Ford Mustang vehicles originally sold, or ever registered, in Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands (Saipan), and the U.S. Virgin Islands, or "Zone A." Additionally, unless included in "Zone A" above, Ford is recalling certain model year 2007-2008 Ford Ranger, Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles, 2006-2008 Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan and Lincoln Zephyr/MKZ vehicles, 2005-2006 Ford GT vehicles and 2005-2008 Ford Mustang vehicles originally sold, or ever registered, in Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia, or "Zone B." Any vehicle not included in "Zone A", or "Zone B" is not included in the safety recall. These vehicles are equipped with certain air bag inflators assembled as part of the passenger frontal air bag modules, and used as original equipment or replacement equipment. In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the front air bags, these inflators may rupture due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to absolute humidity and temperature cycling.
Ford mailed interim letters informing owners that parts are not yet available on July 15, 2016. Owners will receive a second notice when remedy parts become available. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19S01.
2014-05-29
  • Manufacturer: Ford Motor Company
  • Components: EQUIPMENT
  • Summary: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain all weather driver side accessory floor mats sold for use in model year 2006-2011 Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan, 2006 Lincoln Zephyr, and 2007-2011 Lincoln MKZ vehicles manufactured November 9, 2007, through October 31, 2010. The affected floor mats may move and possibly interfere with the accelerator pedal.
  • Consequence: The floor mat could shift such that it could interfere with the accelerator pedal, preventing its return to an idle position, which could result in unintended vehicle speeds, increasing the risk of a crash.
  • Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will install new replacement mats, free of charge. The recall began in July 2014. Owners may contact Ford's customer service at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14S07. NOTE: Vehicles built after October 31, 2010, while potentially equipped with the same floor mats, are equipped with a Brake Over Accelerator (BOA) feature that prevents simultaneous accelerator and brake application, allowing the vehicle to be safely stopped by pressing firmly and steadily on the brake pedal.

Negative 2007 Mercury Milan car reviews

I've had my Milan for almost 2 years now and unfortunately, I can't wait to get rid of it. The passenger seat is terribly uncomfortable, especially when we travel a lot. The seats are not designed very well and the headrest is not aligned properly. Additionally, the handling in the snow is the worst I have ever dealt with.

  2. Orin King 2024-07-04

We bought our Mercury brand new from a Mercury dealer and got a great price for an AWD car. However, we have experienced a few issues with the car. Firstly, the car does not shift when cold unless you lift your foot or reach 5000 RPM. Secondly, we have had to replace the third driveshaft at 75000 miles, with the first being replaced under warranty and the second and third being on our tab. Thirdly, we have found that it is important to buy good quality tires and get the car aligned, as the alignment only lasts about 25000 miles. We recommend Firestone, Bridgestone, or Goodyear tires, rather than generic ones. Fourthly, we have had some negative experiences with the dealer. We feel that they may not have treated us with the respect we deserve, and we have found that their free inspections are not actually free. They will often recommend unnecessary repairs, and if you question them, they will deny it. Finally, we have had some difficulty finding parts for our 5-year-old vehicle. The dealer and Ford have recommended purchasing a $917 unit for a $10 fix, which we find frustrating. We hope that our experiences can help others make informed decisions about their car purchases and maintenance.

The 2007 Mercury Milan has less than 100,000 miles and unfortunately, the transmission has failed. However, it's important to note that this is not a reflection of the overall quality of Ford products. We stand behind our vehicles and are committed to providing reliable transportation to our customers.

I'm so glad to hear that you found the perfect car for you! Your little Sable (Taurus) from Chicago sounds like it was just what you were looking for in terms of reliability. It's great to hear that you're a fan of the Taurus and that you've seen some beautiful new models on the road. After owning GM cars your whole life, it's wonderful that you found a car you love so much that you went to a Ford dealership for another used venture. Your AWD smoke/purplish Sable sounds absolutely beautiful! As someone who's experienced Michigan snow, I know how important AWD can be. It's great to hear that the sound system is superb and that there's extra trunk room. I'm excited to see what adventures your new car will take you on - it certainly sounds like it has plenty of spunk!

Positive 2007 Mercury Milan car reviews

  1. Michael Durgan 2024-11-13

I've had this car for a couple of years now and I absolutely love it! It rides great and handles even better. It's the perfect blend of performance and luxury. One thing that really stands out to me is how quiet the car is. Even though I've owned it for a while, I didn't realize just how quiet it was until I got into my wife's Jetta. There's absolutely no wind noise!

  2. Barry Barton 2024-11-09

This car had me hooked from the start, just based on its looks. I must say, my expectations for sedans have been raised. Unlike many Asian cars, the styling is far from dull. The car looks and feels sporty, but you might assume that the sharp lines and sleek look would result in a tight and uncomfortable interior. However, this is not the case at all. The car is just right for me - it is spacious and comfortable, and I don't experience any discomfort when entering or exiting. While I wouldn't be discussing these things if I were paying $500+ a month, I was able to lease this car at a great price. Although I see them frequently here in Michigan, my daughter says she doesn't see many where she lives. Let's spread the word!

  3. Olaf Hamill 2024-10-25

This is the first American car I've bought in over 30 years and it has not disappointed me. After 2 1/2 years, I have yet to encounter any problems and the car handles as well as any Japanese or German car I've had in the past. The acceleration is adequate and it has good gas mileage for a V6. When it's time to replace, I will certainly give Mercury/Ford a close look.

  4. Newell Gislason 2024-10-17

I've had this car for a month now and I absolutely love it! I used to have a Ford and it was the most reliable car I ever owned, so I decided to stick with the company. I have high hopes for the Milan and it certainly has excellent ratings from Consumer Reports. I believe the Milan represents great value for the money.

  5. Kade Hamill 2024-10-12

I recently graduated from nursing school and was in search of a new car that would fit my budget. After researching and looking at many cars from different dealerships, I went to test drive a 2007 Mazda6 at the dealership. However, I found the backseat to be too small and the car was just okay. I test drove two other cars but was not completely satisfied. It was then that one of the guys working at the dealership suggested the Milan. I fell in love with it immediately - from its aesthetic looks to the smooth drive. The interior and exterior were perfect. What's more, it came with a lifetime powertrain warranty. I knew right away that it was the perfect car for me.
