The Mazdaspeed3 is a sport compact hatchback introduced for the 2007 model year by Mazdaspeed and produced until 2013. The Mazdaspeed3 is a performance-enhanced version of the 5-door Mazda3.

Mazda unveiled the Mazda3 MPS (Mazda Performance Series) at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show in February. The same model is sold in North America as the Mazdaspeed3 and as the Mazdaspeed Axela in Japan. The vehicle is front-wheel drive and powered by a 2.3 litres (2,261 cc) turbocharged inline-four gasoline engine. The Mazdaspeed3 was designed prior to the latest generation of hot hatches, including the Dodge Caliber SRT-4, Ford Focus ST, and the Volkswagen Golf/Rabbit GTI. CLOSE INSPECTION REVEALED THAT THIS WAS CAUSED BY A WELD FAILURE / METAL FATIGUE AT THE POINT WHERE THE ARM WAS WELDED TO THE ROD THAT RUNS BELOW THE CUSHION. THE SEAT IS NOW UNSTABLE AND ROCKS IN AN ALARMING WAY, BOTH WHEN ACCELERATING AND DECELERATING. COPIED FROM AN EXISTING COMPLAINT FOR THE 2010 MODEL YEAR BECAUSE IT IS THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM

Summary: Mazda North American Operations (Mazda) is recalling certain model year 2010-2013 Mazda3 and Mazdaspeed3 vehicles manufactured November 18, 2008, to June 8, 2013, 2012-2015 Mazda5 vehicles manufactured October 26, 2010, to June 22, 2015, 2016 CX-3 vehicles manufactured June 1, 2015, to December 26, 2015, and 2013-2016 CX-5 vehicles manufactured December 15, 2011, to December 26, 2015. On the affected vehicles, the lift gate support struts may corrode, possibly causing the struts to break and/or the lift gate to drop unexpectedly.
Consequence: If the lift gate falls unexpectedly, it may hit the user, increasing their risk of injury.
Remedy: Mazda dealers will replace the both lift gate supports, free of charge, however parts are not currently available. The recall began April 2017. Owners may contact Mazda customer service at 1-800-222-5500. Mazda's number for this recall is 9916H.

Hi there! I have a 2011 Mazdaspeed3 and I was hoping to get some feedback from the Mazda dealership. Unfortunately, I didn't receive the help I was looking for. I asked about the service intervals for my car, specifically when it comes to cleaning out the carbon, but was directed to the owners manual which didn't provide the information I needed. I ended up taking my car to a mechanic I trust, but unfortunately, the carbon cleaning didn't work as my car is Direct Injection and two intake valves broke a year later, costing me $2500 to repair. Additionally, my shocks blew out six months later, which was another $1000 repair. Despite these issues, I still find the car fun to drive if you don't mind the occasional repair for its turbocharged engine.

I was in the market for a hot hatchback and had to choose between the Mazdaspeed 3 and the Focus ST. Luckily, my local dealer carried both brands, so I was able to test them side by side. Both cars are outstanding in their genre, but I ultimately chose the MS3 due to its small price advantage, slightly more power, and my wife's preference for its looks. I was initially concerned about gas mileage, but here in Florida, it's actually much better than rated. I average 24 mpg around town and around 30 mpg on the highway. Overall, it's a really fun ride, although the ride can be a bit firm. Despite this, the gas mileage is still better than the factory rating, so I have no complaints there. One minor issue that I've noticed, which apparently affects other Mazda 3 models as well, is that there is some road noise that enters the cabin. It's a fun ride, but the noise can become a bit annoying on long trips.

The car is still great! It's pretty quick and extremely reliable with no breakdowns. Plus, it has better than average 4-wheel disc brakes. With only 16,000 miles in 8 years, this car is definitely a keeper.

This car is truly built for drivers, with no compromises. If you're someone who loves to drive, then this is the perfect car for you. Mazda deserves congratulations for being willing to build a car like this, even though it may not sell in high volumes. It's like a practical, budget Lotus, an older 911, an Alfa GTV6 (or maybe a 75 sedan or 164S), a BMW Z3 coupe or E30 M3, a Saab 9-3 Viggen or early 9000 turbo, an Audi Quattro GT or a first-gen A-4... or even a number of true Europe-only hot hatches (Ford Escort RS). You could even compare it to an Alfa 146 GTA! The styling has grown on me, and in black, silver or now available pearl white, it tones down a bit for more mature drivers.

I have been a fan of VW since I was 16, but my recent experience with this Mazda car has been a game changer. Despite owning 3 GTI's, including an 07 Turbo, and investing a lot of money into them, I faced a lot of problems with them. On the other hand, Mazdaspeed is an awesome car that offers great tuning options for enthusiasts. It is a fun car to drive, although it can be a bit rough at times. I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves driving. However, it may not be suitable for everyone.

The Mazda Speed 3 is an excellent car that offers great value for money. It comes loaded with features as standard and has a well-designed interior that can comfortably seat up to 5 people. The handling is sharp and precise, although the ride can be a bit stiff for some. The only downside is that the exterior styling may not appeal to everyone. The 6-speed transmission is easy to use and always finds the right gear. Overall, I highly recommend considering the Mazda Speed 3 before making a decision on any other hatchback.
