2008 Maserati Quattroporte problems

The Maserati Quattroporte (Italian pronunciation: ) is a four-door luxury sports sedan produced by Italian automobile manufacturer Maserati. The name translated from Italian means "four doors". The car is in its sixth generation, with the first generation introduced in 1963.
Quattroporte I (AM107, 1963–1969)
The original Maserati Quattroporte (Tipo AM107) was built between 1963 and 1969. It was a large saloon powered by V8 engines—both firsts for a series production Maserati automobile.
History
The task of styling the Quattroporte was given to Turinese coachbuilder Pietro Frua, who drew inspiration from a special 5000 GT (chassis number 103.060) which he had designed in 1962 for Prince Karim Aga Khan. While the design was by Frua, body construction was carried out by Vignale.

Common 2008 Maserati Quattroporte problems
The Maserati Quattroporte, a luxury sedan known for its sophisticated styling and powerful engines, has been reported to have several common problems by its owners. These issues range from electrical system malfunctions to transmission problems, suspension challenges, and engine-related concerns.
Electrical System Malfunctions:
Many Maserati Quattroporte owners have reported experiencing various electrical system issues. These problems include faulty sensors, malfunctioning control modules, intermittent electrical failures, sporadic warning lights, unresponsive infotainment systems, and power windows or mirrors that cease functioning correctly. While these electrical gremlins can be frustrating, they are usually remedied by a trained technician who can diagnose and address the underlying cause.
Transmission Problems:
Instances of rough shifting, delayed engagement, or even complete transmission failure have been reported by some Quattroporte owners. These problems are caused by various factors, such as defective solenoids, faulty valve bodies, or inadequate fluid levels. If you encounter any unusual behavior with your Maserati Quattroporte’s transmission, it is crucial to seek professional assistance to prevent further damage and ensure you aren’t left stranded.
Suspension Challenges:
The Maserati Quattroporte’s finely tuned suspension system, designed to strike a balance between comfort and sportiness, has occasionally faced challenges. Owners have reported suspension noise, excessive vibration, or rough ride quality. These problems are caused by prematurely worn-out bushings, damaged shocks or struts, or misaligned suspension components. Regular maintenance and timely replacement of worn parts can help mitigate these issues and restore the Quattroporte’s “refined” driving experience.
Engine-Related Concerns:
Each of the Maserati Quattroporte’s powerful engines are made from Ferrari blueprints. However, some owners have encountered engine-related problems. Issues like rough idling, engine misfires, or reduced power output have been reported. These symptoms may stem from various causes, including faulty fuel injectors, ignition coil failures, or air intake leaks. Regular servicing and tune-ups can help identify and rectify these engine performance issues.
Factory Wheels:
One specific issue that some Maserati Quattroporte owners have reported is related to the factory wheels. Four out of five developed hairline cracks in normal freeway driving, which led to replacing wheels and tires as onesies to the tune of $1800.00 a few years back. Installing factory-spec aftermarket five-spoke wheels has been found to be a solution to this problem.
While these issues are common among Maserati Quattroporte owners, it is essential to note that not all vehicles experience these problems. By staying informed and working closely with qualified technicians, you can ensure a delightful ownership experience with your Maserati Quattroporte, allowing you to relish this Italian masterpiece’s elegance and performance.

Wow, this car is really impressive, even for a suburban mom like me. I was pleasantly surprised to receive compliments from every male between 12-60 years old while driving this 'sedan'. The interior is super comfortable and spacious, with a cool analog clock in the dash that adds to the stylish feel of the car. With just a light push of the gas pedal, I was able to beat every souped-up Honda off the line, which was a lot of fun. The only downside is that the trunk space seems a bit limited, and the portholes on the side make it look a bit like a Buick, according to my mom. However, the gas mileage is pretty good, with 12+ mpg in regular mode and 9 mpg in sport mode. My kids love the ability to control the passenger seat from the rear center console, which they've nicknamed the 'chauffeur button'.

I recently upgraded my car to a 2007 Sport GT automatic from my 2006 Duoselect QP, and I must say, it's been a fantastic experience! The car is smoother, quieter, and even better inside and out. I absolutely adore the 20-inch wheels, the suspension and gearing in sport mode, and my wife loves the full automatic. This car definitely turns heads - my wife reports that she gets more attention in this car than out of it! The car handles perfectly, and has tremendous power and responsiveness in both automatic and manual modes. I drove my 2006 for over 30,000 miles, and I plan to drive this car daily as well - the more you drive these, the more reliable they become. These cars are meant to be driven, and I absolutely love this car!

This is a big car (4,000 lbs.), but it can really get out of its own way. It has a lovely growl (!!!), is fast, gorgeous, well-appointed, and has superb road feel. I also love the paddle shifters (it's got that amazing Ferrari transmission). I did not expect to be so impressed by this car, but I am still raving to all my friends about it. I had a good experience at the dealership too!

The Maserati Quattroporte is an incredibly stylish sedan that exudes passion through its Italian craftsmanship. The legendary Pininfarina has done an exceptional job with the car's design, creating shapely and striking lines without resorting to any tricks. Despite its low and stylish profile, the cabin is surprisingly roomy. The quality of materials is exceptional, with a choice of nine shades of leather and six types of wood. While the controls could be simpler, this is a common issue among top luxury cars today.

I'm so glad to hear that your car has been such a reliable and strong performer for you! It sounds like you've really gotten your money's worth, with the value of your car increasing from 12k to 35k. It's great to hear that you appreciate the underrated qualities of your car. To keep your car running smoothly, it's a good idea to start it with everything off and give it a minute to go through the check before turning the key on. And in the winter, don't forget to leave the tender on the battery. It's clear that you have a lot of affection for your car and I can understand why you would never want to sell it.

I purchased this car in 2010 as a used vehicle. However, I am extremely disappointed with the quality of the equipment. In the same year, while driving from VA to NJ, my car broke down halfway due to a faulty air conditioning pump with only 17,000 miles on it. Additionally, I noticed a hesitation in the cruise control while going downhill, so I took it to the dealership. They informed me that the clutch was bad at only 17,000 miles. As someone who is 100% Italian and born in Italy, I am deeply disappointed to say that this is an Italian-made car. The compressor for the air conditioning has already cost me $3,900, and I will have to pay another $5,900 to replace the clutch. It is unacceptable that a $140,000 car has such poor equipment.

The car is absolutely stunning! It's definitely one of the most beautiful sedans out there. However, I've had some trouble with the dealership we use. Unfortunately, they don't have any mechanics for the car, which can be frustrating. One time, I had an appointment and they told me that their mechanics were at the races and couldn't take care of my car. It was during the November 2006 race at Homestead Speedway, which was full of American cars. I understand that the mechanics were busy, but it was disappointing that someone who paid $130,000 for her car wasn't a top priority. Additionally, the car has a tire error that can be a bit of a hassle. If you make a tight u-turn, the tire can get slashed by the body. The 2005 transmission takes some time to pick up, but hopefully they've perfected it by now. Lastly, the 6-CD changer rattles quite a bit, but overall, this car is perfect for long trips and highway driving. It truly is a gorgeous car!

I appreciate the opportunity to try out the Maserati, but unfortunately it did not meet my expectations. Although the car looked stunning at the dealer and drove well during the test drive, I encountered some issues during my lease. The rear seat comfort was not up to par and the navigation system malfunctioned. Additionally, I found the power to be lacking compared to my previous Mercedes Benz E55 AMG. Despite these setbacks, I am grateful for the experience and have learned that Mercedes AMG is the right choice for me.

I purchased my car in May and unfortunately, it has spent a total of 3 out of the 4 months in the shop due to various issues such as computer problems, a leak in the interior, and a faulty CD player. Although the engine and handling of the car are excellent, the quality of the car is not up to par and Maserati does not have the maintenance supply set-up to handle mass produced cars. It is important to note that they are used to Ferrari owners whose cars are not needed on a daily basis. For instance, it took 2 weeks just to get the window leak fixed. Additionally, Maserati is 5 years behind in terms of electronics and gadgetry that is common on most other mid and high end vehicles. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this car.
