Common 2016 Lexus Rc 350 problems

The Lexus RC 350, a luxury sports coupe, is known for its powerful 3.5-liter V6 engine, advanced technology, and comfortable interior. However, like any vehicle, it has its share of common issues that owners have reported.

One of the most common problems is excessive oil consumption. This issue is not unique to the RC 350, but it is a concern for many owners. The engine may burn through oil faster than expected, leading to increased maintenance costs and the potential for engine damage if left unchecked.

Engine misfires are another issue that some RC 350 owners have experienced. This can be caused by various factors, such as faulty spark plugs, ignition coils, or fuel injectors. An engine misfire can result in reduced performance, decreased fuel efficiency, and increased emissions.

Timing chain issues have also been reported by some RC 350 owners. The timing chain is a crucial component that synchronizes the engine's camshaft and crankshaft movements. If the timing chain stretches or fails, it can cause severe engine damage. Regular maintenance and inspections can help prevent timing chain problems.

Transmission issues are another area where the RC 350 has had some problems. Transmission failure, delayed or harsh shifting, and transmission fluid leaks have all been reported by some owners. These issues can negatively impact the driving experience and may require costly repairs.

Electrical problems are not uncommon in the RC 350, with battery draining issues, malfunctioning sensors, and power window problems being reported by some owners. These issues can be frustrating and may require professional diagnosis and repair.

Suspension and steering issues have also been reported by some RC 350 owners. Suspension noise and vibration, steering wheel vibration, and alignment issues can all affect the driving experience and may require professional attention.

Fuel system issues, such as fuel pump failure, fuel tank leakage, and fuel gauge malfunctioning, have also been reported by some RC 350 owners. These issues can impact fuel efficiency, performance, and safety and may require professional repair.

Brake issues, including brake noise and vibration, brake fluid leakage, and premature brake wear, have been reported by some RC 350 owners. These issues can affect safety and should be addressed promptly.

In conclusion, while the Lexus RC 350 is a capable and stylish luxury sports coupe, it is not without its common issues. Regular maintenance and inspections can help prevent or address many of these problems, ensuring a safe and enjoyable driving experience.

What is the life expectancy of a Lexus RC car?

With proper maintenance, a Lexus car last around 250,000-300,000 miles. So, it indicates that the car can easily last for around 17-20 years. The normal lifespan of a car is around 150,000-200,000 miles. So, buying a Lexus car can be a very good investment.

What is the reliability score of the Lexus RC?

Lexus is famous for building incredibly reliable cars, and the 2023 Lexus RC is no different. JD Power has given this car a superb Quality & Reliability rating of 88, and according to the NHTSA, the last recall to affect the coupe related to a fuel pump issue for the 2019 model.

How many miles per gallon does a 2016 Lexus RC 350 get?

The EPA projects 21 mpg combined (19 city/26 highway). Offered with either rear- or all-wheel drive, the RC 350 also has a 3.5-liter V6, but it generates a healthier 306 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque.

Is the Lexus RC 350 fast?

In our testing, we found this engine to be smoother than the four, but the RC350 is still not as gutsy as rivals. While it managed a 5.6-second run to 60 mph, the BMW 440i coupe we tested did the deed in 4.4 seconds—a performance difference that feels a lot bigger than it looks on paper.

Overall, this is a fantastic sporty-looking daily coupe. If you're looking for a car that impresses people who don't know much about cars, while also not having to adhere to expensive maintenance schedules, then this one is for you. The interior is immaculate, and the styling is great. The odometer is beautifully orchestrated, showing all the information you would like, such as tire psi, what song is playing, fuel economy, etc. However, from a driving enthusiast's perspective, this car gets 3 stars. It would be a 5-star car from a normal owner's perspective. Why? It drives like a boat. It is essentially a pretentious-looking V6 Camry but slower and less efficient in every capacity. The sound system (ML) is phenomenal, and you'll need it as the engine notes from this thing are nonexistent. Performance: 2/5, Looks: 4/5, Fuel economy: 3/5, Interior: 4.5/5 (if it had Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, it would be 5/5). I put heavy emphasis on the performance rating (2/5) as this was a very boring car to drive once you know how German performance cars play.

This is a replacement for our 2013 Lexus GS 350. We've had the car for about three months now and I wanted to share some of my thoughts. First of all, I have to say that this car is visually stunning. I've had at least 100 people stop me to ask what kind of Lexus it is, and they all comment on how gorgeous it looks. I have the Ultrasonic Blue with playa interior, and the fit and finish of the interior are exceptional. The F Sport seats have the right amount of side bolstering for fast cornering. However, I do have a couple of gripes with this car. The engine is a bit underwhelming. It's the same engine from the GS, but it seems to be tuned much less sporty. Update*** It's been 2+ years since I purchased the RC350, and I have found lots to like about the vehicle (e.g. styling, reliability, functionality) while the same issues that plagued the car after a few months still exist (bad fuel economy, glitchy CPU for navigation). Lexus somewhat addressed the fuel economy by introducing the 4-cylinder turbo RC. Knowing what I do now about it, I would still purchase this vehicle again because it checks off many of the boxes for my needs, and there aren't droves of them on the streets (ala BMW 4 series). Update*** It has been almost three years since I leased the RC350. Styling-wise, it has aged well, but technology-wise, three years is a lifetime. The interior has held up well, and the overall mechanics of the car work fine. Lexus has seemingly abandoned this car from an advertising standpoint as everything is now compact SUV-biased. If you are in the market for an RC, search around because there are great deals out there.

With only 11k miles and 3 years of easy driving, I have had to replace the front brake rotors from aluminum to steel due to a design defect, and also replace a rear shock due to a faulty part. Currently, the front facing A/C vents are not functioning properly, but I have scheduled a visit to the dealership to address the issue. Despite these challenges, I have enjoyed owning this vehicle and look forward to resolving these minor issues.

  4. Jerry Upton 2024-01-12

The steering can be a bit challenging and the vehicle alignment may cause some issues, especially on wet surfaces. While some dealerships have stated that the car is within spec, I had a less than satisfactory experience with a few of them. However, I must say that Lexus of Tampa Bay went above and beyond to handle correcting the issue and pleasing a customer. Once corrected, the car has indeed been pleasing to drive and is definitely a head-turner. If you are a Toyota brand enthusiast, you may want to consider a V6 Camry or a Lexus IS and save some money. Overall, my experience has made me a one-time Toyota/Lexus brand buyer, but I appreciate the effort made by Lexus of Tampa Bay to make things right.

Positive 2016 Lexus Rc 350 car reviews

  1. Declan Jakubowski 2025-05-24

This car inherits the comfort and reliability that Lexus is known for. The exterior is stunning and the ride is smooth. As expected in a sport car frame, the interior is a bit tight, but it is very quiet and the ride is relatively smooth. While the acceleration is not the strongest feature of this car, it still performs well. In Sport mode, there is a bit of hesitation at the start from a complete stop. I have the Luxury package on this car, which is loaded with features. However, there are some important features that are lacking compared to my older Lexus that had only the Premium package (See suggested improvements).

  2. Stephan Spinka 2025-05-14

Outstanding quality and reliability, with exceptional ride comfort. The cabin interior is surprisingly quiet, unless you change your tires to performance summer tires like I did. However, I will return to all-weather Michelin tires when they wear out soon to have a quiet cabin again. I have experienced no breakage, and everything works with no issues. The only thing I have done with my coupe is the normally scheduled fluid maintenance, and periodic brake pad replacements due to my spirited driving style. The power is just enough, and the ride comfort is exceptional.

  3. Xzavier Collins 2025-05-08

This is a really great car! It runs smoothly and is very comfortable. The paddle shifters give you an extra boost of power when you need it, making it easy to zip around other cars or merge onto the freeway. It's so quick that you have to be careful not to go over 90 mph without realizing it! I bought this car brand new in 2016 and it has been the most reliable car I've ever owned. I've only had to take it to the shop for routine maintenance. This is actually my fourth Lexus since 1998 and I have to say, none of them can beat the reliability of this one. The RC-350 is truly an outstanding value and I would definitely buy it again!

  4. Laverna VonRueden 2025-04-25

This is my 5th Lexus. I have always found them to be exceptional, but this coupe is particularly enjoyable to drive. I test drove the 435, A5 and C300, all of which were very fine cars. However, for me, the Lexus once again proved to be the total package. While it may not be quite as fast as the BMW or the Audi, it is certainly fast enough for most people. The ride and handling are superb, and I have received many compliments on the car's appearance. Mine is in Infared and Playa.

  5. Nicholaus Huels 2025-04-14

Congratulations on your new Lexus coupe! It's great to hear that you're enjoying the ride quality and getting compliments on the atomic silver color. It's also good to know that the gas mileage is on par with the engine size. The engine/exhaust note sounds like a lot of fun too! It's understandable that some people might want more power, but it's great that the car strikes a balance between power and fuel economy. The RCF is definitely an option for those who want more power. It's impressive that even at 6'6
