Common Lexus Rc 350 problems

The Lexus RC 350 is a luxury sports coupe that has been praised for its performance, style, and safety features. However, like any vehicle, it is not without its common issues and problems. In this article, we will explore some of the most frequently reported problems with the Lexus RC 350, based on complaints from owners of this car.

One of the most significant engine issues that some owners of the Lexus RC 350 have experienced is timing chain problems. The timing chain is an important component of the engine that synchronizes the movement of the pistons and valves. If the timing chain becomes loose or stretched, it can cause the engine to misfire, lose power, or even stall. Some owners of the RC 350 have reported that the timing chain has failed completely, resulting in costly repairs. This issue is particularly common in vehicles with higher mileage, and it may be caused by a design flaw in the engine.

Another engine issue that has been reported by some owners of the Lexus RC 350 is oil consumption problems. The engine is designed to consume a certain amount of oil over time, but some owners have reported that their vehicles are consuming much more oil than expected. This can lead to engine damage and costly repairs. The root cause of this issue is not yet clear, but it may be related to the engine's design or the quality of the oil used in the vehicle.

In addition to engine issues, the Lexus RC 350 has also been reported to have transmission problems. Some owners have reported that the transmission has failed completely, resulting in a loss of power and the need for costly repairs. Others have reported that the transmission shifts harshly or delays shifting, which can be both uncomfortable and dangerous. These issues may be caused by a variety of factors, including wear and tear, poor maintenance, or a design flaw in the transmission.

Electrical issues are also common in the Lexus RC 350. Some owners have reported that the battery drains quickly, even when the vehicle is not in use. This can be caused by a variety of factors, including faulty sensors, malfunctioning wiring, or a problem with the vehicle's charging system. Other electrical issues that have been reported include malfunctioning sensors, power window issues, and problems with the infotainment system.

Suspension and steering issues are also common in the Lexus RC 350. Some owners have reported that the suspension makes noise or vibrates, which can be both uncomfortable and dangerous. Others have reported that the steering wheel vibrates or that the vehicle pulls to one side, which can make driving difficult and dangerous. These issues may be caused by a variety of factors, including worn-out components, poor maintenance, or a design flaw in the suspension or steering system.

Fuel system issues are also common in the Lexus RC 350. Some owners have reported that the fuel pump has failed, resulting in a loss of power and the need for costly repairs. Others have reported that the fuel tank leaks or that the fuel gauge malfunctions, which can be both inconvenient and dangerous. These issues may be caused by a variety of factors, including wear and tear, poor maintenance, or a design flaw in the fuel system.

Brake issues are also common in the Lexus RC 350. Some owners have reported that the brakes make noise or vibrate, which can be both uncomfortable and dangerous. Others have reported that the brake fluid leaks or that the brakes wear out prematurely, which can be both expensive and dangerous. These issues may be caused by a variety of factors, including wear and tear, poor maintenance, or a design flaw in the brake system.

In conclusion, the Lexus RC 350 is a luxury sports coupe that has been praised for its performance, style, and safety features. However, like any vehicle, it is not without its common issues and problems. Engine issues, transmission problems, electrical issues, suspension and steering issues, fuel system issues, and brake issues are all common in the Lexus RC 350. If you are considering purchasing a Lexus RC 350, it is important to be aware of these common issues and to maintain the vehicle properly to minimize the risk of problems.

Lexus Rc 350

Is the RC350 reliable?

Lexus RC350 F Sport continues to be Outstanding

It has plenty of power for street driving, but it's so quick you have to watch out because you can be over 90 mph before you realize it. I acquired the car new in 2016. Almost three years later it has proven to be the most reliable brand I've ever purchased.

Is the RC350 expensive to maintain?

The average annual repair cost for a Lexus is $551, which means it has above average ownership costs. The other factors that contribute to Lexus reliability include an average of 0.5 visits to a repair shop per year and a 8% probability of a repair being severe.

What is the life expectancy of a Lexus RC car?

Typically, a car from Lexus will last 250,000-300,000 miles.

Is Lexus RC 350 fast?

In our testing, we found this engine to be smoother than the four, but the RC350 is still not as gutsy as rivals. While it managed a 5.6-second run to 60 mph, the BMW 440i coupe we tested did the deed in 4.4 seconds—a performance difference that feels a lot bigger than it looks on paper.

  • VIN: JTHHZ5BC4K5

  • Summary: Traveling distance of 0.2 miles in a residential complex with 15 mph speed limit, on an uneven road that loops around. The road goes on a slight incline as it bends towards the left reaching my parking destination, a 2-car stall. At slow speed I made a right turn into the stall (a break-release-break maneuver) when the car lurched and suddenly picked up speed. Visualizing a wide pedal in the middle I hard-pressed the brakes with my right foot, same time thinking I should not pass the white post (about halfway of the stall) instinctively put my left foot over the right to press harder on the brakes. Next thing I know the car stopped and noticed white particles floating around. The airbags deployed - front, knee and side airbags activating roadside assistance (SOS). The engine would not start, and I can’t open the driver’s side door and window. The car crashed into the guardrail and right front wheel went over the concrete bump on the ground. I sustained chest and leg injuries. There is no other passenger, or third party involved. I did not hear or see any indication of system alerts or warnings before and during the incident. Car was totaled. While waiting for assistance and thinking about what happened it never occurred to me to wonder if I mistakenly stepped on the gas until the police at the scene brought it up. I had at least 3 lurching incidents on this vehicle, but the brakes worked. I could not replicate these incidents as it happened randomly.

MY WINDOWS WERE NOT OPEN (SO NO PRESSURE CHANGE), AND NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY WITHIN THE CAR. I WAS ON MY WAY TO SAN FRANCISCO FOR A COVID TESTING APPOINTMENT. I MADE IT TO THE APPOINTMENT, AND AFTERWARDS, ABOUT 20 MINUTES AFTER I HEARD THE INITIAL EXPLOSION, I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND ASSESSED THE DAMAGE. MY SUNROOF GLASS WAS GONE. NOT MUCH GLASS INSIDE THE SUNROOF COVER, AND THE GLASS THAT WAS STILL ON THE SUNROOF FRAME WAS BENT UPWARDS, INDICATING THE SUNROOF EXPLODED UP AND OUTWARDS, SO I DIDN'T THINK SOMETHING HAD HIT IT. • Date Complaint: 2016-09-15
  • VIN: JTHSE5BC0F5
  • Components: SEATS
  • Summary: SAME ISSUE AS STATED IN NHTSA ID NUMBERS 10881898, 10761786 AND 10748834. SPORADIC SEAT COOLING PROBLEM -- PANELS ON SEAT BACK SOMETIMES HEAT IN COOLING MODE. FOR ONE TEST I DID, THE CAR WAS IN THE GARAGE AND COOL (SO EXISTING HEAT FROM THE CAR BEING PARKED IN THE SUN WAS NOT A FACTOR). I STARTED THE CAR, TURNED ON THE SEAT COOLERS AND GOT OUT (SO BODY HEAT WAS NOT A FACTOR). I COULD VERY SPECIFICALLY FEEL HEAT ON THE TOP PANEL OF THE SEAT BACK (BOTH THE DRIVER'S SEAT AND THE PASSENGER SEAT). I TOOK IT INTO MY LOCAL LEXUS DEALER (SEPTEMBER, 2015) AND THEY REPORTED "SEATS COOLING PROPERLY WITHOUT FAULT". HOWEVER, AS THERE ARE 3 OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE, THERE WOULD PERHAPS SEEM TO BE A NON-ISOLATED PROBLEM.

  • Date Complaint: 2015-09-05
  • VIN: JTHHE5BC7F5
  • Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SEATS
  • Summary: WHEN I AM USING MY VENTILATED SEATS THE BOTTOM OF THE SEAT IS COOL AND FEELS GOOD BUT THE BACK UPPER PORTION NEAR SHOULDER BLADES FEELS LIKE ITS BEING HEATED. I HAVE THE COLD AIR ON IN THE CAR AND THE COLD AIR ON IN THE SEATS AND I CAN HAVE BOTH AT MAXIMUM COOL AND IT WILL STILL HEAT UP. WORSE IS THAT IT IS RANDOM BUT HAS BEEN OCCURRING ON OTHER CARS TOO AS SEEN IN FORUMS. WHEN YOU TURN THE COOLING SEATS OFF IT WILL COOL DOWN AND WHEN YOU TURN THEM BACK ON THEN IT WILL HEAT UP AGAIN.
Lexus Rc 350 2015
  • Date Of Incident: 2015-07-03
  • Date Complaint: 2015-08-14
  • VIN: JTHHE5BCXF5
  • Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SEATS
  • Summary: WHEN I'M USING MY VENTILATED SEATS THE BOTTOM OF THE SEAT IS NICE AND COOL BUT IT FEELS LIKE THE MY BACK IS BEING HEATED. I ALWAYS HAVE VENTILATION ON LOWEST SETTING. THE TOP OF THE SEAT BETWEEN SHOULDER BLADES... VERY HOT!??? SERIOUSLY. I FELT IT WITH MY HAND, AS IF THE VENTILATION WAS SHORTING THE HEATING ELEMENTS. IT STAYED HOT A WHILE AFTER I TURNED OFF VENTILATION. THEN IT COOLED. HAD THIS HAPPEN TO ME ON MY WAY HOME. THE BOTTOM OF THE SEAT WAS COOLING BUT MID BACK THE SEAT GOT VERY HOT. TURNING IT OFF DID CUT THE HEAT AND THEN IT WOULD COME RIGHT BACK WHEN I TURNED IT ON. AND IT SEEMED TO BE GONE. THIS HAPPENED TO ME. TO MAKE SURE I TURNED ON THE VENTILATION ON THE PASSENGER SIDE TOO, NO ONE SITTING IN IT. IT WARMS UP AT THE SAME SPOT AS THE DRIVER SIDE. JUST BELOW SHOULDER BLADE AREA. THE SEAT PORTION IS COOL AND YOU CAN FEEL THE AIR. THE BACK (WARMER PART) IS NOT EMITTING AIR, BUT JUST HOT. TURNED THE SWITCH ON AND OFF, BUT STILL GETS HOT IN THE THE BACK. FINALLY, TURNED THE CAR OFF FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES. TURNED IT BACK ON, AND THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY. HOWEVER, I FEEL THAT THIS PROBLEM WILL RETURN. JUST USED VENTED SEATS I EXPERIENCED THE EXACT SAME THING. COOLING ON THE SEAT AND IT GOT VERY HOT ABOUT WHERE MY SHOULDER BLADES ARE. IT WAS UNCOMFORTABLE ENOUGH THAT I WAS COOLER LEAVING THEM OFF. I TAKE IT INTO THE DEALER FOR THE 5K CHECKUP SOON. THE BACK OF THE SEAT HEATING IS REALLY ANNOYING!! HOPE IT'S A QUICK FIX! THEY CAN'T REPLICATE THE PROBLEM, THUS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE. ALTHOUGH I'M NOT HAPPY WITH THE FACT THIS PROBLEM IS NOT RESOLVED, I KNOW THAT THE PROBLEM IS OCCURS AT RANDOM. WE JUST HAVE TO KEEP THEM AWARE THAT THE PROBLEM EXIST BY REPORTING IT. THE SERVICE WRITER CREATED A CASE NUMBER (IT'S PRINTED IN THE PAPERWORK) AND SUBMITTED TO LEXUS CORP. HOPEFULLY WE GET A FIX FOR THIS SOON.

Hello! I wanted to share my experience driving my Lexus in a snow storm on October 24, 2019, on my way to Oklahoma. Unfortunately, the blowing snow, freezing rain, and water from the road caused the front of my vehicle to freeze over, covering the sensors and rendering them useless. I had to stop every half tank of fuel to gently break the ice from the front of the vehicle. While I was surprised that my Lexus didn't perform as well as I expected in these conditions, I still believe it's a great car. I hope that Lexus will continue to improve their vehicles for all types of weather and road conditions. Thank you for listening to my experience! Best regards, Stanley C. I have driven this car for 3 years with under 11k miles and have had to replace the front brake rotors from aluminum to steel due to a design defect. Additionally, I had to replace a rear shock because of a faulty part. Currently, the front facing A/C vents are not functioning properly, as they are spewing cold air on the driver's side and hot air on the passenger side, even without dual climate control enabled. I have scheduled another trip to the dealership to address this issue.

With only 11k miles and 3 years of easy driving, I have had to replace the front brake rotors from aluminum to steel due to a design defect, and also replace a rear shock due to a faulty part. Currently, the front facing A/C vents are not functioning properly, but I have scheduled a visit to the dealership to address the issue. Despite these challenges, I have enjoyed owning this vehicle and look forward to resolving these minor issues.

The steering can be a bit challenging and the vehicle alignment may cause some issues, especially on wet surfaces. While some dealerships have stated that the car is within spec, I had a less than satisfactory experience with a few of them. However, I must say that Lexus of Tampa Bay went above and beyond to handle correcting the issue and pleasing a customer. Once the issue was corrected, the car has indeed been pleasing to drive and definitely turns heads. If you are a Toyota brand enthusiast, you may want to consider a V6 Camry or a Lexus IS and save some money. Overall, my experience has made me a one-time Toyota/Lexus brand buyer, but I appreciate the efforts of Lexus of Tampa Bay to make things right.

I bought my 2015 Certified Lexus in 2017, and it's an F sport. The suspension, shift points, and throttle response are all changed, making it incredibly fun to drive. For me, 306 hp with the amazing 8-speed shiftable transmission is more than enough. The cockpit is beautifully lit at night, and the gauge package is superb, with digital MPH! I've had all the service done by my Lexus dealer, and it just received its 60k service. Overall, it's a truly amazing vehicle.

With this car, you'll actually look forward to driving somewhere. The color and exterior design are amazing, and you can't beat Lexus quality and engineering. The warranty is also one of the best in the business, so you can rest easy knowing it will last. The car is very fast when you want it to be, and if you want better gas mileage, just switch it to econ mode. What a cool car! It's the best one I've ever owned.

We flew to NC to drive our new car back to So. Fl. Johnson Lexus was the only dealer that had the exact color combo and trim level we were looking for. Unfortunately, the dealers in So. Fl were not easy to deal with. However, Devon and Brett at Johnson Lexus were amazing and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. We absolutely love our new car and are thrilled to have found it!
