The fifth generation ES used body styling marketed by Lexus as L-finesse and debuted in early 2006 as a 2007 model. The sixth generation ES debuted in the first half of 2012 as a 2013 model, and features increased cabin dimensions due to a longer wheelbase which is shared with the full-size XX40 series Avalon.

WITH A LITTLE BIT OF GLUE AND TRANSPARENT TAPE I WAS ABLE TO START THE CAR AND DRIVE IT TO THE LOCAL LEXUS DEALER ON ATLANTIC BLVD.IN JACKSONVILLE, FL.THE SERVICE MANAGER SEEMED UNCONCERNED ABOUT MY PROBLEM, AND SPOKE MOSTLY ABOUT THE REDESIGNED SWITCH PRESENTLY AVAILABLE, AND WAS TOTALLY UNCONCERNED ABOUT MY PROBLEM. THE AMOUNT OF ADHESIVE AGENT APPLIED BETWEEN THE OUTER RING AND THE TORSIONAL RUBBER DAMPER (INNER RING) IN THE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY MAY BE INADEQUATE. IF THE ADHESIVE IS INSUFFICIENT, THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT THE OUTER RING MAY BECOME MISALIGNED AND IT MAY NOT PROPERLY ROTATE WITH THE INNER RING, CAUSING NOISE AND/OR ILLUMINATION OF THE BATTERY DISCHARGE INDICATOR LIGHT.
- Consequence: IN SOME CASES, THE BELT FOR THE POWER STEERING PUMP MAY BECOME DETACHED FROM THE PULLEY WHICH COULD RESULT IN A LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND A SUDDEN INCREASE IN STEERING EFFORT, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
- Remedy: TOYOTA WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEALERS WILL CHECK THE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY TO IDENTIFY WHETHER IT WAS PRODUCED BY THE U.S. SUPPLIER. The new 5-speed transmission seems to be causing some issues, such as shifting either hard or with hesitation. In slow traffic, the transmission falls out of gear and then surges and jerks to find the right gear. Unfortunately, Lexus has not yet found a solution for this problem with this particular model, despite it being recognized by their dealers and service departments.

This is a luxury car, not a sport car. I'm so glad I got to drive it! I would definitely consider buying another one in the future. The comfort and feeling of safety and reliability are what come to mind when I think about this car. It was definitely worth every penny. By the way, I used to own a Lexus.

This is my second Lexus, and I also have a new 05 Highlander Limited. I keep coming back to their products because of the exceptional build quality and bullet proof reliability. The black exterior and interior of this Lexus look great and are easy to maintain. The ES has a smooth ride and predictable handling, although it may not be the most exciting to drive.

Hey there! I just wanted to share my experience with my 2005 Lexus es330. I bought it back in 2014 with 82000 miles and it's been an absolute gem ever since. With 290,000 miles on it now, I've only had to replace the alternator in 2019. Can you believe it? The paint still looks great too! Even during the pandemic, I drove it almost every day for 14 months without an oil change and it never let me down. I also know someone who bought a 2003 es300 with 330,000 miles 6 years ago and they've had the same great results, only needing to replace the alternator. This car is truly amazing and takes care of you, even if you don't take care of it. It's a beast that just keeps on going! Everyone I know who has one says the same thing, 'you can't beat it.' It's no wonder every car company needs to take a page out of the Lexus playbook!

Hi there! I wanted to share my experience with my Lexus that I bought this summer. I've been having some trouble with hesitation and jerking when starting to accelerate, which has been a bit frustrating. The dealer mentioned that this is normal for a V6 engine, but I'm not so sure. The car's tires, transmission, and gas mileage are subpar, and it lacks performance for its price. Additionally, it struggles with traction in snowy conditions, and the original tires had to be replaced quickly due to their inability to handle wet conditions in New England. However, the new tires provide excellent traction, albeit with increased noise and a slightly stiffer ride. Overall, the tire replacement was a worthwhile improvement.

I bought the ES330 for its ride comfort, which it definitely delivers on. However, I did find that the fuel economy was not as good as I expected based on the sticker ratings. Additionally, I noticed that the engine/transmission function was not very smooth and there was a lot of jerking when shifting. It's still too soon (only 13K miles) to speak to the overall quality, but I'm trusting that the market over the years will prove me right. If comfort wasn't my main priority, I probably wouldn't buy another ES330, as it's just not as high-performing as I'm used to.

I have experienced the same transmission issues as others, and it has been a frustrating experience. During my 5,000 mile checkup, I raised my concerns to the dealership. However, their response was dismissive, stating that it was a common complaint and that I would eventually get used to it. Unfortunately, even after driving 63,000 miles, I have not adjusted to it. As a result, I have decided not to purchase another Lexus. This is disappointing as it is my second one. Additionally, the cup holder is quite flimsy and has broken. The cost to repair it is $380, which seems excessive given the quality of the car.
