- Summary: My son and I were driving home from work on IH-35 and I noticed smoke coming from under my hood. Then within seconds, flames appeared moving quickly towards the windshield. I attempted to move to the shoulder and after doing so, I was unable to stop since the brakes were no longer working. I had to use the parking brake when it slowed down and then once stopped, my son and I jumped out of the vehicle and within 3-5 seconds, the entire car was overcome with fire which then exploded.

That wasn't the issue.car started to stall while on the highway or in traffic and cut out. Scary when there's semis behind you and you were just going 65 mph in a 70 and I had just got on the highway from the on ramp and was trying to get to speed when it cut out. the crank shaft position sensor coded then so had it replaced and its still rough on acceleration and shifting and it's an automatic transmission.

- Summary: This vehicle has electrical issues none stop. One day it randomly stalled out while still in motion and lost all power. No power at all. It was “repaired” and I had it for 2 weeks and it again lost all power while in motion. It put my life completely at risk as I had to pull over into a parking lot after losing all power turning in the middle of a very busy main intersection. Kia dealership said it was the main wiring harness at first and replaced that but then the second time said that the new harness was out again and needed replaced a second time because of a fuse that was causing too much power therefor blowing the wiring harness again? Now I am having engine and electrical issues months later. I had what appeared to be a need for a tune up. Which was done. It has continued to throw wrong codes and lights come and go on the dash all the time. I’ve gotten several tests done and I always get a code stating misfiring even when there is no light on the dash. The check engine light will come on for 2 weeks then randomly go off for 2 weeks. No matter what it will throw a code as misfiring in the 1&3 cylinders. Spark plugs, coils, air filter. everything has been replaced yet the light still comes and goes and it continues to throw the code. Car has been seen by the dealership multiple times

- Summary: Kia America, Inc. (Kia) is recalling certain 2010-2019 Borrego, 2014-2016 Cadenza, 2010-2013 Forte, Forte Koup, Sportage, 2015-2018 K900, 2011-2015 Optima, 2011-2013 Optima Hybrid, Soul, 2012-2017 Rio, 2011-2014 Sorento, and 2010-2011 Rondo vehicles. The Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU) may experience an electrical short, which can result in an engine compartment fire while parked or driving.
- Consequence: An engine compartment fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury.
- Remedy: Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will replace the HECU fuse, free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed November 14, 2023. Owner notification letters were mailed March 29, 2024 through June 18, 2024. Owners may contact Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542. Kia's number for this recall is SC284.

This car is perfect for regular commuters, such as those who need a reliable vehicle for work or school. When we were searching for a car for our daily job commute, we prioritized fuel economy, safety, warranty, a powerful engine, and a few tech features. Even when driving in downtown Chicago, this car is still fun to ride on the highways. While we didn't focus too much on the interiors, we are still very happy with our decision, especially since our car has almost 100k miles on it now. We compared it to other models such as the Elantra, Civic, Camry, Corolla, Sonic, Cruize, and Focus, but ultimately chose this one for its price, safety ratings, fuel efficiency, and warranty.

This car is a fantastic value! Congratulations on your new purchase! While it's still early days, I'm confident that this model will prove to be reliable. It certainly feels solid and drives much better than its price would suggest. The built-in trip computer is a great feature, and I've heard that adding Cruise is a breeze with a switch kit that costs under $100. It's a shame that some shops try to charge nearly $500 for the same service. I'm also a proud owner of a 2014 Sportage, which I think is a great value for a crossover. My son is still driving our 2004 Spectra, which has an impressive 190,000 miles on the clock, and my daughter loves her 2015 Soul. We've had no complaints about any of these cars, and they've proven to be very reliable for their cost.

My daughter recently purchased a Kia Rio, but unfortunately, we experienced a sidewall blowout and were surprised to find that there was no spare tire or jack included. Instead, there was only a small pump and some compound that was not suitable for repairing sidewall damage, which is the most common type of damage to modern radial tires. It was disappointing to learn that the salesman at Courtesy Kia (Henderson, NV) did not inform her of this. Additionally, it was frustrating to spend over an hour navigating the phone maze to reach roadside assistance, only to be told to purchase a new tire ourselves and wait for assistance to arrive. This situation is not only a rip-off, but also potentially dangerous, especially in Nevada where being stranded on a remote road in the summer heat could be life-threatening.

1. The electronic odometer is too cluttered. It would be better to have one place for each output, with clarity. A separate boxed odometer display would be ideal, and the large gear-shift suggestion should be tamed and put in a corner of the instrument display area. A notification of the current gear with the shift suggestion appearing as a smaller digit with an up or down arrow would also be helpful. 2. While tire pressure sensors are great, it would be even better if they could tell me the actual pressures when I ask. It would also be useful to know the real coolant temperatures, not just H/C. 3. An inbuilt outside temperature and compass above the rear-view mirror would be a nice addition. Making the rear-view mirror wider would also be helpful. 4. I prefer having keyed doors and trunk. 5. The radio/clock panel should be less multi-functional. Providing a little real-estate for each output (time, radio frequency) and keeping it there all the time would be better (time always, radio state when the radio is on, etc.). 6. The car is a bit too noisy with respect to both engine and road noise. 7. You can hear the valves tapping when standing outside by the hood. 8. The acceleration could be improved. 9. While the car is long enough, it is too narrow. Widening it by 6 inches would give each front passenger 3 more inches. 10. Putting rubber fill-in cord around the rear window would be a good idea. 11. The manual transmission shifts smoothly. 12. The AC controls have a weird automatic state when the temperature control is set to max 'blue' that overrides all the other controls, recirc, etc. Maybe giving that state a separate notch on the temperature control labeled MaxAC would be helpful. 13. The radio needs a bit more DX (distance tuning ability). 14. We want cruise-control with the manual transmission car! 15. The pillars, seat headrests, and small rearview mirror make blind spots for cars coming alongside, which is hard to deal with.
