The Kia K900, a luxury sedan introduced in 2015, has had limited sales in the U.S. market, making it difficult to pinpoint specific model years to avoid based on a large number of complaints. However, there are a few issues that have been reported by owners, including engine problems.
Three complaints about the engine are the worst issues reported for the 2019 Kia K900, according to CoPilot. While there isn't an overwhelming number of reliability issues with this model year, these engine problems are worth noting.
The Kia K900 ranks 16th in reliability out of 24 Kia models, with owners making 23 complaints over 8 model years, mostly about steering issues.
In 2018, the Center for Auto Safety successfully petitioned U.S. regulators to seek recalls for Hyundai and Kia vehicles due to fire risks, which led to the recall of over 9.2 million vehicles, including some Kia K900 models.
In November 2021, Hyundai and Kia recalled nearly 3.4 million vehicles in the U.S. due to engine compartment fire risks, which could occur while the vehicles are parked or being driven.
In summary, while there aren't an overwhelming number of complaints about the 2019 Kia K900, engine problems are worth noting. Additionally, the Kia K900 ranks relatively low in reliability compared to other Kia models, with various complaints about steering issues and other problems. POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2020-11-23
- VIN: KNAS34J6XK6
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN NOV. '20. THE FIRST TIME THAT THE TEMP DROPPED BELOW 65, ON THE FIRST "AUTO STOP" OCCURENCE AFTER REACHING OPERATING TEMPERATURE, AFTER ABOUT A SECOND OF THE ENGINE TURNING OFF,A LOUD BEEP OCCURRED AND A MESSAGE POPPED UP SAYING THE SYSTEM HAS SHUT DOWN AND I NEEDED TO SHIFT INTO N OR P AND PRESS THE START BUTTON TO RESTART THE ENGINE. IT ACTUALLY REQUIRED PRESSING THE BUTTON TWICE WHILE THE LOUD BEEP CONTINUED, STUCK IN TRAFFIC. IT WILL DO THIS UP TO 4 TIMES IF IT'S BELOW ABOUT 65 AND THE VEHICLE HAS SAT FOR HOURS OUTSIDE.TO THIS DATE, THE MFG. HAS YET TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE SHUT DOWN. A DTC WAS NEVER STORED. A CONTINUOUS MIL ILLUMINATION NEVER HAPPENED. IT'S BEEN TO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES. I CALLED KIA TWO DAYS AGO AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD CALL THE DEALER AND HAVE THEM PUT PRESSURE ON KIA'S OWN TECH LINE. NO CALL HAS BEEN RECEIVED.I BELIEVE THAT A LOSS OF MOTIVE POWER IN TRAFFIC REPRESENTS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN AND REGARDLESS OF THE ACTUAL MALFUNCATION CAUSING THE SHUT DOWN, THE SHUT DOWN FAILURE MODE OF THE SYSTEM, VERSUS JUST RESTARTING THE ENGINE WITH A MIL ILLUMINATION AND A STORED DTC IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN AND THAT HYUNDAI MOTOR GROUP SHOULD BE MADE TO IDENTIFY ALL SUCH KIA, GENESIS, AND HYUNDAI MODELS WITH SUCH A SYSTEM AND BE MADE TO RECALL THEM AND REPROGRAM THEM TO NOT ALLOW A REMOVAL OF MOTIVE POWER WHILE BEING DRIVEN IN TRAFFIC, IN ADDITION TO ADDRESSING THE ACTUAL MALFUNCTION IN MY K900. OR IF THEY CAN'T, THEY NEED TO BE MADE TO DEACTIVATE THE SYSTEM PERMANENTLY, RESTATE FUEL ECONOMY ESTIMATES, AND REIMBURSE DRIVERS.

I have owned both a 2016 and a 2019 K900. Unfortunately, I was involved in an accident and had difficulty finding parts due to the low number of K900s sold in the United States. While I understand that Kia may not prioritize the K900 as much as other models, I was disappointed with the level of customer service I received when trying to resolve the issue. Overall, the car is decent, but I have noticed some wear and tear over time. When it was brand new, it was very nice, but I have noticed some corners being cut during production. It would be great to see Kia put more effort into promoting this automobile, as I believe it has a lot of potential. Thank you for your time.

I have owned both a 2016 and a 2019 Kia K900, and unfortunately, my experience with the company's customer service has not been satisfactory. As a luxury car brand, they seem to be ill-equipped to cater to their customers' needs. When my car was involved in an accident, I was informed that it would take 5 and a half months to repair, which was a frustrating experience. The representatives at Kia Consumer Affairs were not very friendly or helpful, which made the situation even more unpleasant. It appears that the company, which is based in South Korea, may not be fully aware of the issues with their customer service in the United States. Given the limited number of K900s sold, it seems that they may have difficulty meeting the needs of American consumers. Based on my experience, I would not recommend purchasing a Kia, especially if you are looking for a luxury car.
