2000 Jaguar Style problems
The Jaguar E-Type, or the Jaguar XK-E for the North American market, is a British front mid-engined sports car that was manufactured by Jaguar Cars Ltd from 1961 to 1974. Its combination of exceptional aesthetics, advanced technologies, high performance, and competitive pricing established the model as an icon of the motoring world. The E-Type's claimed 150 miles per hour (240 km/h) top speed, sub-7-second 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) acceleration, largely unitary body construction, front and rear independent suspension with disc brakes, mounted inboard at the rear, and rack-and-pinion steering, distinguished the car and spurred industry-wide changes.
The E-Type was based on Jaguar's D-Type racing car, which had won the 24 Hours of Le Mans for three consecutive years beginning in 1955.
The E-Type employed what was, for the early 1960s, a novel design principle, with a front subframe carrying the engine, front suspension and front bodywork bolted directly to the body tub. No ladder frame chassis, as was common at the time, was needed and as such the first cars weighed only 1,315 kg (2,899 lb).
It is rumored that, on its debut on 15 March 1961, Enzo Ferrari called it "the most beautiful car ever made", but this statement is not fully confirmed. In 2004, Sports Car International magazine placed the E-Type at number one on their list of Top Sports Cars of the 1960s. In March 2008, the Jaguar E-Type ranked first in The Daily Telegraph's online list of the world's "100 most beautiful cars" of all time.

Common 2000 Jaguar Style problems
The Jaguar S-Type, produced between 1999 and 2009, is known for its luxurious design and performance. However, like any vehicle, it has its common problems that owners have reported over the years.
- Rear Suspension Bushings: The Jaguar S-Type's rear suspension bushings are fluid-filled and called Hydra bushes. They are more of a wear item and tend to wear out relatively quickly. Every S-Type I've ever seen has either had them replaced or needed them replaced. This includes the rear shock lower bushing and the three bushings on the rear lower control arm. Only two of those three are Hydro bushes, the largest one usually is fine and doesn't need to be replaced.
- Automatic Climate Control: This is another super common problem with the Jaguar S-Type. The climate control valve (CCV) in the engine compartment is the first component to fail. It is an overly complicated system, over-engineered, and there are two components that typically fail. The CCV is one of them, and it can be replaced with an aftermarket catalytic converter or sourced from a salvage yard.
- Failed Fuel Pump: The fuel pump is a common failure point in the Jaguar S-Type. A fuel pump failure can be fixed by replacing the electric fuel pump part for about ten dollars, which can keep the car running for years without having to replace the entire assembly.
- Sticking Electronic Parking Brake: The electronic parking brake in the Jaguar S-Type is unnecessary and over-engineered. With age, the cable system can rust, causing the caliper to seize once the electronic parking brake is engaged. The cables can be replaced, lubricated, or the e-brake can be avoided altogether.
- Drooping Headlights: The Jaguar S-Type is equipped with auto-leveling HID headlights. Sometimes, this system fails, but typically, it's not the auto-leveling system itself that fails. Instead, it's a plastic support on the inside of the headlamp that can be fixed with a 50-cent sheet metal screw.
- Water Leaks: There are two main areas susceptible to water leaks in the Jaguar S-Type. One is in the trunk, which can usually be fixed with a little bit of silicone caulk. The other area is in the engine compartment, which can cause serious problems, such as misfires due to water in the spark plug wells or water leaking down through the hole in the firewall onto the computer and then down on the on the carpet in the passenger footwell.
These are some of the most common problems reported by Jaguar S-Type owners. Regular maintenance and inspections can help prevent or address these issues, ensuring the longevity and reliability of the vehicle.
Are early 2000s Jaguars reliable?
The 2000 S type is “much worse than average” according to Consumer Reports. People do not but a Jaguar because they want a reliable car. People buy a Jaguar because they want a Jaguar. If you concerned about reliability you must be concerned with cost of repairs.
Which is the best engine in Jaguar S Type?
Don't be put off by the 2.5-litre engine. It may be the entry-level unit, but it's powerful enough for most drivers. The 3.0-litre offers greater performance, while the V8 models are smooth and torquey. But if you can live with V8 fuel bills, you can probably afford the superior diesel.
What is the life expectancy of a Jaguar S Type?
Owns this car
Jaguars are consistently among the best-handling cars of their kind and the Jaguar on this year make a very good car, reliable. The Jaguar usually last with 125,000 or 150,000 miles can be a good investment, since you're likely to clear 200,000 miles or more.
