The fourth-generation model marked the switch to a mid-size car platform using the N3 platform which is shared with another three corporate siblings, the Hyundai Santa Cruz, the Hyundai Mufasa and the fourth-generation Kia Sorento. - Fire: 1
- VIN: KM8JUCAC9DU
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: I recently had a car accident, which has made dealing with my car issues even more stressful. On April 23rd, I went for a recall appointment at Kerry Hyundai in Florence. While the anti-rust recall was covered, the mechanic informed me that the remedy for my specific issue wasn't available. This was surprising, as I received a letter stating that the remedy for my Tucson, identified by its VIN, was available as of April 3, 2024. This seems like clear negligence, and I need assistance from www.safercar.gov. Here is the message I sent and the responses from the Kerry representative. Unfortunately, I can't attach the screenshot. **Recall Notice:** - Date: 2024-04-03 - Manufacturer recall issued - NHTSA: #23V651000 - Recall: #251 ABS FUSE REPLACEMENT (VARIOUS MODELS) - Status: Remedy Available I urgently need an appointment before 9 am at the soonest available time for my 2013 Tucson recall. Despite my visit for another recall and this recall on April 23rd, the agent's responses were negligent. They claimed the Tucson is not under Hyundai Recall Number: 251 as of April 23, 2024, which contradicts the recall notice. Here are the responses: - "So I just checked it will still stay on there because there's no fix for this vehicle yet." - "It's only for the Sonatas and Santa Fe Sport." - "The vehicle listed in this is how we can proceed but the Tucson is not yet available."

My car is currently unsafe to drive (I am a mother with a young child and I will not risk their safety). UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-04-02
- VIN: KM8JUCAC2DU
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: UNKNOWN. I am writing to express my dissatisfaction regarding Hyundai Motor America. They have told us our car is subject to catching fire and not to park in in our garage or near other dwellings. We have contacted them numerous times and they keep pushing off a date for repair. Now they say, “maybe June.” Isn’t there a timeline for this? For a car to catch fire, 8 months seems excessive to me. The Consumer Protection Division of the NHTSA has indicated that I should contact you to let you know that I wish to continue this case. The information they gave me is below: Re: Hyundai Motor America****** File No: [XXX] Thank you for your help. VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-02-20
- VIN: KM8JU3ACXDU
- Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE
- Summary: We experienced engine failure of a 2013 Hyundai Tucson on 2/20/24. There were no warning lights displayed on the instrument panel. There was an unidentified noise and a loss of power/compression. We are in the process of learning the difference between a Service Campaign and a Recall Notification and I can’t say we understand it yet. We were not notified nor aware of potential engine failure issues. The research we’ve been able to obtain regarding Service Campaign 966 (“SC966”) appears to exclude the 2013 Tucson model unless it has a Theta II engine. The service department at Dick Smith Hyundai stated that if we would have had our car serviced at the dealership, we would have been informed of SC966. As we are the second owner of an eleven-year-old vehicle, we do not typically have it serviced at a dealership. Oddly enough, we received a notification regarding the knock sensor on 3/18/24 almost one month after we contacted Hyundai Customer Support and after the vehicle was towed to Dick Smith dealership and we spoke with the service department. We have been informed by the local dealership (Dick Smith Hyundai service department) that it is unlikely that the engine will be replaced under the Hyundai Class Action Lawsuit, or any open Recalls and it will be 2-4 months before a decision is rendered regarding the matter. We are also being charged a diagnostic fee for their services of approximately $200.00. Regardless of the recall coverage, our experience with this vehicle engine seems to mimic the exact same symptoms and issues as the Make/Models that are included in the published Recall notice by Kia/Hyundai, and we would like to make this known to protect other consumers and to see if there is any recourse and/or assistance for us.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-03-07
- VIN: KM8JUCAC4DU
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: I am writing to express my serious concern regarding a safety issue with my Hyundai vehicle, and the apparent lack of resolution from Hyundai despite repeated attempts to seek assistance. Last year, I received a notification from Hyundai about a critical safety issue concerning the EMERGENCY FIRE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM ("ABS") MODULES, which could potentially leak brake fluid internally and lead to an electrical short over time. This electrical short poses a significant risk of engine compartment fires, both while the vehicle is parked and during operation. Naturally, upon receiving this alarming notice, I expected Hyundai to promptly address and rectify this potentially life-threatening issue. Unfortunately, my concerns have only heightened as my local mechanic recently discovered a leakage in my vehicle, which aligns with the exact problem outlined in the aforementioned notification. This discovery has left me deeply troubled and anxious about the safety of my vehicle and the potential risks it poses to my well-being and that of others on the road. Despite my numerous attempts to seek assistance and resolution from Hyundai, I have encountered nothing but frustration and disappointment. Every time I reach out to Hyundai's customer service, I am met with vague responses and reassurances that they are unable to provide a solution to the problem. This lack of urgency and accountability on Hyundai's part is unacceptable, especially considering the gravity of the safety issue at hand.
SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC PROBLEM

The contact stated while his son was driving at an undisclosed speed and depressing the brake pedal to come to a complete stop, the vehicle failed to respond and crashed into the rear of another stopped vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The air bags did not deploy. The contact stated that the front end of the vehicle was damaged, and coolant started leaking due to the collision. The contact's son and the other driver did not sustain any injuries. The vehicle could not be driven and was towed to an auto collision shop. A police report was filed. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The failure mileage was approximately 151,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

This car is incredibly reliable and runs like a dream. My wife and I have a loaded limited edition with 52k miles on it, and we absolutely love it. Unfortunately, over the Fourth of July weekend, the engine failed. However, we were able to tow it to our friendly Hyundai dealer in Lakeland, Florida. They were incredibly helpful and gave my wife a loaner car while they worked on our car. After three weeks, they called to let us know that our car was ready, and they had even installed a brand new engine at no charge! We couldn't be happier with the service we received and our almost-new, perfect car.

I bought this car earlier today to replace my 03 Camry. After testing it against the base Santa Fe Sport, I found that while the Sport had a smoother ride, it was slow and the standard options were underwhelming. However, when I drove the Tuscon LTD FWD, I was impressed by the little 2.4 ltr engine's ability to provide plenty of get up and go. The standard features on the LTD are plentiful and useful. I added some options such as mats, cargo net, cargo tray, first aid kit, mudguards and wheel locks. I chose the Garnet Red with Taupe leather interior, and it looks sharp. I got an awesome deal on the car, and I believe it's a very awesome vehicle for the money in today's market. In my humble opinion, this is my second 2013 Hyundai purchased within the last 30 days, and I absolutely love Hyundai.
-
The Tucson is a very stylish midsize crossover. I love the look of this vehicle, it's still hard for me to believe it's a Hyundai. However, the seating could be improved as the seatbelt tends to dig into your hips due to the narrow seat.
-
Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with my Hyundai. I bought it new at the end of 2012 and it has been an absolute favorite of mine ever since. I've been a loyal Chevrolet and Ford customer for over 50 years, but after experiencing some maintenance problems with an Equinox, I decided to give Hyundai a try. I'm so glad I did! With 120,000 miles on it, my Hyundai is still in top-notch condition. I've only had to do some routine maintenance like oil changes, a set of tires, and a new battery. It's such a joy to drive and handles parking like a dream. Plus, it still looks wonderful! The gas mileage is still great and everything in the car works perfectly. I'm eagerly waiting for the redesigned 2022 Tucson to come out this summer so I can purchase another Hyundai. I'm never going back to anything else! Best regards, Janet from Ann Arbor, Michigan

After college sports, wear and tear, neck surgery, and both hips replaced, the Tucson AWD was a great fit. Whether at the beach in North Carolina or during Pittsburgh snow and ice storms.

My wife and I purchased a 2012 Hyundai Tucson from San Francisco Hyundai on December 28th. Unfortunately, less than three months later, we experienced an issue with the engine due to a faulty gasket that caused coolant to leak into the engine. While we were understandably concerned, the service department was knowledgeable about the problem and its solution. However, they were instructed by Hyundai Motors Company to wait until the gasket could be tested. Although we appreciate Hyundai's thoroughness in identifying the issue, we were disappointed that our car had to spend so much time in the shop. It would have been a nice gesture if they had filled up our tank after the repairs were completed.

I purchased this car brand new in May 2013 to replace my 2002 Toyota Sienna, which was unfortunately totalled when rear-ended by another vehicle. However, I have had some issues with the car. The seats got stained within a week when my wet umbrella brushed the seat as I was putting it on the floor. It was surprising to see simple water stains on this cheap fabric. Additionally, at 12,000 miles, my transmission needed replacement! I have previously owned a Toyota Corolla, Celica and Sienna, and I must say that the quality of the Tucson doesn't even come close. This will be my first and last Hyundai car.

Hi there! I wanted to share my experience with you. I bought a car in 2013 for my father and for the first 2 years, we had no problems. However, after 50k miles, we started experiencing some issues with the following parts. It was a bit frustrating, but we were able to get them fixed. Thanks for listening!

The engine failed after 125000 miles, and I paid to have it replaced since it was outside of the Hyundai warranty. Unfortunately, less than a year later, the replacement engine also failed. My mechanic has noticed an increasing number of newer model Tucsons with this issue. It is worth noting that there have been recalls issued for the newer version of this vehicle due to catastrophic engine failure.

The car lost power and stopped on the freeway, despite all fluids being fine. While some may view Hyundai's as disposable vehicles, I am confident that this issue can be resolved with the right expertise.
