2020 Hyundai Santa fe problems
The Hyundai Santa Fe (Korean: 현대 싼타페) is an automobile produced by the South Korean manufacturer Hyundai since 2000. It is a five-door crossover SUV that either has front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. It is named after the city of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and was introduced for the 2001 model year as Hyundai's first SUV. The Santa Fe was a milestone in the company's restructuring program of the late 1990s because the SUV was a hit with American buyers. Between 2006 and 2012, the Santa Fe was positioned between the smaller Tucson compact crossover and the larger Veracruz.
The third-generation Santa Fe introduced in 2012 was available in two versions, which are regular (short) and extended long-wheelbase version. The short model was sold as the Santa Fe Sport in North America (three-row seating was not available) and simply Santa Fe in global markets (three-row seating was standard or optional), while the extended long-wheelbase model is called the Santa Fe in the US, Santa Fe XL in Canada and called the Hyundai Maxcruz in South Korea. The fifth and current generation was released in 2023 and omits diesel engines in favor of petrol hybrid powertrains.
As of 2022, the Santa Fe is positioned between the smaller Tucson – which the Santa Fe shares platform with – and the larger Palisade in Hyundai's global crossover SUV line-up.

Common 2020 Hyundai Santa fe problems
The 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe has been reported to have several common problems by its owners. These issues include excessive battery drain, hesitation while accelerating, and the rear A/C not blowing.
Excessive battery drain is the most widespread complaint among 2020 Santa Fe owners, particularly within the first 1,500 miles of ownership. This problem is caused by electrical accessories that continue to draw power even when the vehicle is turned off, which can drain the battery. The diagnosis for this issue costs around $150, and the repair can range from $20 to $200.
Hesitation while accelerating is another problem reported by 2020 Santa Fe owners, usually occurring around the 6,000-mile mark. This issue is often due to a dirty mass air flow sensor that fails to function correctly. Replacing the sensor costs approximately $200, depending on local labor rates. However, if the sensor fails early in the ownership experience, it may be covered under Hyundai's 10-year/100,000-mile warranty.
The rear A/C not blowing is another issue that some 2020 Santa Fe owners have experienced, particularly within the first 1,000 miles. This problem is usually caused by a disconnected piece of ductwork from the front A/C compressor to the rear vents. This issue is typically repaired under warranty, but if it occurs outside of the warranty period, it can cost around $250 to fix.
In summary, the 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe has some common problems, such as excessive battery drain, hesitation while accelerating, and the rear A/C not blowing. These issues are similar to those found in other midsize SUVs, with average repair costs as the vehicle ages.

- Number Of Injuries: 1
- Crash: 1
- VIN: 5NMS33AD9LH
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: I parked my 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe in a hospital parking garage on the morning of July 30, 2024. I was getting ready to leave after my doctor’s appointment. I slowly reversed my car and hit a pillar behind me. As I put the car into drive to come forward slowly, the car accelerated forward at a very fast speed. I took my foot off of the gas and kept pressing the brake pedal, but the car kept speeding forward on its own and I crashed headfirst into a concrete wall. The impact cracked the concrete barrier on the outside of the parking garage. The air bags deployed, causing fractures in my sternum and L1 vertebrae. This accident occurred near the elevators/stairs and cars were all around. IF a person had been walking in my path to get to their car, he/she would have been severely hurt or killed. I was able to frantically steer the accelerating car into a handicap parking space and crash into the concrete wall, thus avoiding other cars. If that space was not available, my car could have crashed into another car with people inside. We were just told that the car is going to be totaled. If necessary, it could be inspected before that happens. I thought that I was going to die… the car was out of control. I do not want this to happen to others with this type of car…or put others in its path at risk.

- Summary: Sitting in parked vehicle. Opened the rarely-opened panoramic sunroof. Heard unusual sound,. Looked next day and noticed a stationary glass panel forward of the sunroof had shattered all the way around but had not collapsed (yet--have tape on it to keep it intact until repairs can be made). Hyundai does not consider this to be a warranty issue. The warranty states in the "What is not covered" section: "- Action of road elements (sand, gravel, dust or road debris) which result in stone chipping of paint and glass." Dealer documented it and basically said "too bad". Since the issue being reported was NOT caused by road debris etc., This should be a warranty coverage matter. Similar instances have happened to others (entire sunroof) and has been reported. This glass should be LAMINATED--not tempered--but is not. This could be a major safety concern.

Congratulations on your new Santa Fe Limited AWD 2.0 for your daughter! I am glad to hear that you had a great experience with the car and that it exceeded your expectations. The car's fit and finish, as well as the amount of equipment it has, are impressive. The car feels spacious and comfortable, and the sunroof and back windows are great features. The cargo area is also very spacious. It's great to hear that the car is almost as quiet as your Lexus LS500 and Lincoln Aviator Black Label. The fuel economy is also impressive, averaging about 26 miles per gallon after 325 miles. The Santa Fe Limited 2.0 has a lot of extra equipment, such as ventilated seats, a heads-up display, power folding seats, and power front seats with power 4-way lumbar on the driver's side, which makes it a great value for the price. I highly recommend checking out the Santa Fe before purchasing a small-mid size SUV. Well done, Hyundai!

I love it! The calypso red color is stunning, and the turbo charged engine is impressive. The two toned leather seats are a nice touch, and the wireless charger in the front and back is so convenient. The power lift gates are also a great feature. Overall, this car exceeds my expectations and I finally feel like I have everything I want and more!

As many reviews online have stated, this vehicle offers great value for money and a luxurious feel despite not being a luxury car. I personally love everything about it - the smooth driving experience and the solid feel on the road. Additionally, it comes with a plethora of safety features which is always a plus.

Your SUV is actually a 2020 Santa Fe Limited 2.0 turbo, 4 cylinder limited. It's very quiet, maneuverable, and comfortable, with loads of options and lots of room. I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying it and that it fits your needs better than your previous car. It's a quality-built vehicle that you can be proud of!

I love this SUV! I'm still trying to figure out all of the extra features, but so far it's been great. The only thing I've noticed is that the back seats don't move back and forth. It seems strange that this feature isn't included on the limited model when it's available on lower trim levels.

I have experienced some issues with the acceleration of this car. Occasionally, when I press the pedal to accelerate, the car does not move forward at all, which can be dangerous if it happens on a highway. I want to emphasize that this is not a delay, but a complete loss of acceleration and power. I have had this car for about a month and I would advise caution when considering purchasing it. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I purchased a 2020 Santa Fe 3 weeks ago and have been experiencing some hesitation when starting from a stop. Additionally, I've noticed that the RPM is sometimes higher than normal on the highway. While I wouldn't purchase a Hyundai again, I plan to continue driving this one until the warranty is finished (5 years, 60,000 miles). Hopefully, I won't experience any accidents during that time. It's frustrating that these problems have been occurring for many years. Thank you for listening to my experience with Hyundai!

My wife and I decided to purchase the highest trim available for this vehicle due to its impressive features and the best warranty in the US automotive industry. Although there are some negative aspects, I would like to focus on the positive ones for my review. The vehicle has a powerful drivetrain, but the gas pedal may be a bit too soft, which can make the driving experience less responsive. Additionally, it would be great if the vehicle had parking sensors up front. The engine noise is noticeable, especially during initial acceleration, but it is not a major issue. However, the ) The rear wiper doesn't quite go a full 180 degrees. 3.) The seat cushion isn't very comfortable, especially after a long trip. This is actually a big issue, unfortunately, it's something you only notice after owning the vehicle for a while. Finally, 4.) You can't set seat presets while the car isn't in Park.

I recently purchased a nicely appointed SUV, but unfortunately I have experienced a major shortcoming in terms of power. The base engine is severely underpowered and cannot maintain speed even on slight inclines, let alone on interstate exits with inclines. This power shortage also results in loud engine noise in the cabin. If I had to do it again, I would probably opt for the turbo engine. Despite this issue, the vehicle has good features, although some of the features the salesman said were included were not. Additionally, there is an annoying email alert every time I park in my garage that the door is unlocked. However, overall it is not a bad car and the gas mileage is better than expected. As a side note, I had some difficulty turning off the alerts and the owners manual is outdated. I hope this information is helpful.

I recently test drove a 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe and was hoping to like it, especially with the cash back, customer discounts, and APR%. The Santa Fe has sleek lines and nice appointments, all at an affordable price point. However, my experience driving it was disappointing. In my opinion, the 2.4 engine and transmission were not up to par. The shift points were off and the lack of power made me feel unsafe and lacking in confidence. After driving it, I was concerned that the car would need a new transmission within a year. Unfortunately, after researching online, I found multiple complaints about this engine/transmission package. While I appreciate the effort, I have to say that I won't be purchasing a Hyundai Santa Fe.
