2021 Hyundai Accent problems
The Hyundai Accent (Korean: 현대 엑센트), or Hyundai Verna (현대 베르나) is a subcompact car produced by Hyundai. In Australia, the first generation models carried over the Hyundai Excel name used by the Accent's predecessor. The Accent was replaced in 2000 by the Hyundai Verna in South Korea, although most international markets, including the US, retained the "Accent" name. The "Accent" name is an abbreviation of Advanced Compact Car of Epoch-making New Technology.
The Accent is produced for the Chinese market by Beijing Hyundai Co., a joint venture with Beijing Automotive Industry Corp. For the Russian market it was assembled by the TagAZ plant in Taganrog until 2011, and since 2011 it was assembled by the HMMR plant in Saint Petersburg and sold under the new name Hyundai Solaris. In Mexico, the Accent was marketed until 2014 by Chrysler as the Dodge Attitude, previously known as the Verna by Dodge. In Venezuela, Chrysler marketed these models as the Dodge Brisa until 2006. The Brisa was assembled by Mitsubishi Motors at its plant in Barcelona, Venezuela. Since 2002, the Accent had been the longest-running small family car sold in North America. In Puerto Rico, the second and third generations were sold as the Hyundai Brio.
In 2008, Hyundai Accent was named the most dependable subcompact car by J.D. Power and Associates.

Common 2021 Hyundai Accent problems
The Hyundai Accent, a budget-friendly commuter car, has received critical acclaim from U.S. News. However, it is not without its problems, one of which involves airbag issues. The most recent complaint in CarProblemZoo involved a 2020 Hyundai Accent that got rear-ended on a freeway near Dallas, Texas. Despite the impact pushing the vehicle towards the guard rail on the right side of the freeway, the airbag failed to deploy. Another user on the site complained about a 2014 Hyundai Accent on behalf of a contact who sustained near-fatal injuries as a result of airbag failure. There are 119 complaints dating as far back as the 2004 model. Hyundai has issued a recall for 2015 Accents manufactured between September 15, 2014 and February 10, 2015. At extremely low temperatures, the occupant detection system (ODS) may be unable to detect the presence of a child restraint seat in the front passenger seat, resulting in front airbag failure. Affected models will receive an ODS software update, free of charge. If you suspect an issue with your Accent’s airbag system, don’t hesitate to call your trusted mechanic and have him inspect your vehicle.
Another problem reported is the Hyundai Accent’s throttle position sensor (TPS) failing, causing the car to randomly speed up and slow down. The TPS works together with the vehicle’s fuel management system to ensure the correct amount of fuel is delivered to the engine. If your Hyundai Accent randomly slows down or accelerates, you should ask your mechanic to take a look at your TPS.
Transmission failure has also been a common issue for some 2004 Hyundai Accent owners, with users complaining about gear shifting not being a smooth experience.
In addition to these problems, the 2021 Hyundai Accent has been reported to have issues with seat belts and steering.
Lastly, the 2021 Hyundai Accent may have problems with its tires, as indicated by a light on the dashboard. This light means you may have an issue with one or more of your tires – the air pressure is too low, too high or you have a slow leak or flat.
It is important to note that while these problems have been reported, they do not necessarily indicate widespread issues with the Hyundai Accent. It is always recommended to consult with a trusted mechanic or dealership for any vehicle-specific concerns.

I have had to visit the dealer twice to have this problem fixed and paid out of pocket. This started to happen ever since my last service at a Hyundai dealership. I suspect that this is because of low quality or defective lugnuts/studs that are being used, which is causing the lugnuts to be stuck and break off while trying to remove them. 2 of the lugnuts and studs in the vehicle had to be broken off to be removed last week (11/28/22). Yesterday (12/04/2022) during a tire change, another lugnut/stud broke off during removal. Hyundai should look into this faulty lugnuts/stud problem and have it resolved.

STEERING,WHEELS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-05-25
- Number Of Injuries: 1
- VIN: 3KPC24A60ME
- Components: STEERING,WHEELS
- Summary: The car seems to have sort of an alignment problem. Steering keeps going to the left and I constantly have to pull steering to the right. Even with both have on steering wheel the car goes to the left lane. If I make a left turn the steering seems to want to stay to the left and I get the feeling the car is going to flip over. It's like there is a gap in the steering wheel. A miscommunication between the steering and front axle kind of. They tried to fix it three times without any success, and now they are ignoring me, they don't answer my calls. I only drive it to work because I have to. The dealer says it's not that bad. Well maybe it's not that bad to drive it around the block but to drive it one hour everyday is a problem for me, even my right hand and arm start to hurt after half hour of constant dragging. Dealer told me all there accents drive the same. Well for me it means they all have same problem probably. Mechanics told me they get lot of cars with same problem. I am sure they are aware of it. I even took a video while driving to demonstrate defect and definitely it's not safe to drive. They tried to align the car three times at two different dealers with no success. Dealers repair files attached.

I've only had my Accent Limited for about a month, but I'm already loving this little car! The car is so quiet and rattle-free, and it feels really well-built and solid. I'm also really impressed with the technology in this car, especially considering how affordable it is. I was able to sync my phone with the car before I even left the vehicle, which is something I could never do with Ford's complicated Sync system, even after three years of trying! While I can't speak to the car's reliability just yet, I haven't encountered a single problem so far, which is a huge improvement over my previous car. I'm really looking forward to many happy years with my Accent! And with 5000 miles on the clock, it's still running flawlessly! In fact, it's been over a year now and I still haven't had any problems. Two years in and it's still running flawlessly - zero problems!

Great news! This small car boasts excellent fuel economy and a very smooth ride.

So glad to hear that you're enjoying your car! It's great to hear that you're getting such good gas mileage, averaging 39mpg on both street and freeway driving. The 7inch infotainment system with Apple car play sounds like a great feature. It's wonderful to hear that even after 22,000 miles, your car is still an awesome commuter!
-
For a small car, it's great how roomy it is inside. Plus, the gas mileage is fantastic!

I purchased my wife's 2018 Accent SE in 2019. Although it was a rental car with 16,000 miles, it looked very clean and was only $12,200 out the door. We have now driven 45,000 miles without any issues and are about to pay it off. This little car handles, accelerates, and brakes better than any other subcompact at this price point. On trips, I have gotten as much as 43 mpg with the Accent. When I was looking for a car for my business, I considered many different vehicles, but the Accent won the decision again. The 2021 Accent SE was only $16,150 out the door, and you cannot find a new car this good for that price anywhere else.

I sold my 2013 Toyota Corolla to my son to replace his 1999 Ford Escort and bought a 2018 Hyundai Accent for myself. The Accent seemed like a great car during my test drives, with a six-speed manual transmission and a 1.6-liter engine that was easy to get used to. It shifted smoothly and had sufficient power, and I was pleased to see that the average MPG was 47 for my combination of highway and city driving. Although the ride is fairly firm, it's quieter at highway speeds than the Corolla. Unfortunately, at around 140 miles, the car started running rough and the Check Engine light came on. It felt like the car was running on two cylinders, but the dealer replaced the spark plugs and the car has been running smoothly ever since. I'm happy to report that at 21,000 miles, the car is still running well and I'm getting 43-44 MPG. Overall, I'm pleased with my purchase and hope that the long-term reliability will be good.Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to let you know that I haven't been able to add many miles recently, as I'm now working from home 3 days a week.

It sounds like you had a mixed experience with your car. While it had great gas mileage, it seems like the manual transmission was difficult to handle and lacked some important safety features. It's understandable that you chose the 6sp for its unique features, but it seems like it may not have been the best fit for your needs. It's frustrating when a car doesn't perform as expected, especially when you have experience driving manual transmissions. I hope your next car is a better fit for you!

This new car has some quirks. It rides a bit rough and you can hear every sound inside and outside the car. Additionally, there is no console between the seats like my 2016 model. When you back up, the radio can go wonky. Lastly, when it rains, water can get between the door and the frame, which has caused all 4 of my doors to freeze shut. Despite these issues, I still enjoy driving it.

I was shopping for an Elantra, but I found that the Accent Limited had a catchy new style and lots of equipment. I already have an Elantra SE that is well-equipped, but it doesn't offer everything that the Accent Limited does. I think the sport mode is particularly nice on the highway when you're in manual shift due to stop-and-go heavy traffic. The electric shift 6-speed is actually in a manual mode, so be sure to watch and upshift manually. The Limited came with high-quality, low-profile tires and large rims, which gives it a nice stance and good handling. If you don't have extra funds to purchase wheel locks, see if you can finance them as a dealer add-on. You can feel comfortable inside, as it is larger than the previous Accent models I test drove. If you like gadgets, this is the car for you.

If you love the feeling of wet grass under your feet, or don't mind keeping your windows up due to the interior components, then this car might be for you. However, it's worth noting that some components, such as door handles, cup holders, and interior trimming, may be prone to breaking in colder temperatures.
