The fifth-generation Honda CR-V is a compact crossover SUV manufactured by Honda since 2016, replacing the fourth-generation CR-V. It was first unveiled on 13 October 2016 in Detroit, United States. Honda began producing the CR-V at East Liberty, Ohio at the East Liberty Auto Plant in November 2016 and at Greensburg, Indiana at the Honda Manufacturing of Indiana plant during February 2017. The fifth-generation of CR-V is available in 5-seater and 7-seater variant in markets other than North America.

Sales began in the U.S. on 21 December 2016 as a 2017 model year. While most North American market cars are made in the ELAP, HMIN or HCM plants, some, albeit relatively very few, are assembled in Saitama, Japan.
The fifth generation CR-V was also launched in Thailand on 24 March 2017 and in Indonesia on 27 April 2017 at the 25th Indonesia International Motor Show. Indonesian models went on sale on 17 June 2017. The Indonesian model top trim (Prestige) is equipped with 5-spoke 18-inch Modulo alloy wheels not seen in other markets.
In the Philippines, the 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine manages 120 PS and 300 Nm of torque.
The 158 kW (212 hp; 215 PS) CR-V Hybrid was unveiled at the 2017 Auto Shanghai in China in April 2017.
On 12 July 2017, Honda Malaysia launched the fifth generation CR-V with four trim levels. After two years, Honda Malaysia launched the CR-V Mugen Limited Edition.
The fifth generation CR-V was also launched in Japan on 30 August 2018 and went on sale on the following day, making it the return of the CR-V for the Japanese domestic market after a two-year hiatus since the fourth generation CR-V was discontinued there in August 2016. It was previously displayed on 27 October 2017 at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show, announced on 29 September 2017.
The European market CR-V was shown at Geneva Motor Show in March 2018 and went on sale in September, including a seven-seat variant. The CR-V hybrid, which was previewed at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, went on sale in early 2019 with a fuel economy comparable to diesel competitors. Honda expects sales to split equally between gasoline and hybrid in three years.

Hi there! I recently purchased the CR-V Touring Hybrid in Sonic Grey and I'm loving it! I was looking for a comfortable, quiet, and fuel-efficient vehicle for my daily commute in the San Diego area to replace my high mileage 2014 BMW 328d. After ~2000 miles, I'm nearly matching the 36-38 MPG that I got in the 328d in mixed driving. On my commute, which is mostly non-highway, I have easily achieved 40 mpg, so it is possible under real-world conditions to achieve the mileage listed. The spacious interior is really outstanding and very comparable to luxury brands - the seats, the leather-wrapped steering wheel, hands-free lift gate and door locks. I think it compares very well in several areas to a BMW X3. The CR-V Hybrid is not far behind in acceleration at 8 sec, and it does work harder on steep inclines, but that's to be expected. A noticeable feature of Honda hybrids is the Acoustic Vehicle Alert System (AVAS). It is mostly noticeable at low speeds or while in reverse. Perhaps the ground clearance amplifies the sound a bit relative to other hybrids, but it is easy to get used to. Overall, I'm extremely happy with this purchase and look forward to commuting with it for years to come. Pluses: near-luxury comfort interior, cargo space, fuel economy, CarPlay integration. Minuses: Acceleration past 40 MPH, voice recognition of GPS.

I was in need of a spare car for my family and kids to drive, as we were replacing a 14-year-old SUV that one of my college-bound kids was taking with them. We were looking for something that could haul stuff on weekends and be safe for the other kids to drive during the week (or take to school if COVID cooperates). We compared this car to the Hyundai Santa Fe, but we were unimpressed with the Hyundai dealer and the car felt too big and fancy for our needs. The price with the hybrid and all features didn't seem comparable either. We test drove a non-hybrid EX-L and while we were impressed, we didn't like the engine and CVT sound effects. So, we tried the Hybrid Touring in the color we liked and it felt more solid, partly due to the extra 200lbs from the battery and larger 19” wheels. We negotiated a 10% discount to match the EX-L hybrid list and we are very happy with our purchase. I was shocked at how large the CRV is compared to mid-size SUVs. It has as much room inside and out as any other mid-size SUV we own. The performance in suburbia is just right, but we would like more power at speed on the highway. However, we can deal with the hybrid's daily capabilities. The oil changes every 3-5k miles are more annoying than the 10k we are used to, but I believe this car will last for many years without issue. The fully loaded Touring is only missing a 360 camera and panorama roof compared to luxury SUVs.

The Honda vehicle is of solid quality, but unfortunately, it is not rated for towing and Honda does not recommend installing a hitch for a bike rack. If you are a cyclist looking for a small hybrid SUV that is bike-friendly, you may want to consider a Toyota instead. After 8 months of use, I have noticed that the mileage is not as advertised, and I am only getting around 35mpg overall. The car seems to get worse mileage on short haul, low-speed trips around town. Additionally, there are fewer internal storage options compared to the regular fuel vehicle. Therefore, I cannot recommend this vehicle as a hybrid. If you must have a hybrid, I suggest getting a Toyota. After 14 months of use, the gas mileage has not improved, and it is still around 35mpg. Although it is a nice car, it is not a very good hybrid or SUV, especially with its inability to handle a trailer hitch even just for a bike.

The vehicle rides smoothly and offers excellent passenger space. It is important to avoid stomping the pedal and instead get up to speed smoothly. While the hybrid's fuel efficiency is lower than the EPA numbers, it still offers a respectable 33.3 MPG after 600 miles of driving. Although it may take some time to recoup the added cost, this is still a nice vehicle for those in the market for a new SUV. If you are looking for even higher fuel savings, it may be worth exploring other hybrid SUV options. An update on the vehicle's performance: after driving with Economy mode on for the first 800 miles, the MPG was around 33.2-3. However, after turning off the Econ setting and driving about 90 miles, the MPG remained at 33.2. After clearing the trip computer, turning Econ on, and driving 140 miles with about 15 in city/urban areas, the MPG increased to 37.3. It is possible that the engine computer needed time to learn the difference. I will continue to update if there are any significant changes in performance.

The car is pretty and it's my first hybrid. There's a lot to commend it, such as its comfort, roominess, and decent performance. However, I have noticed that the mileage is not as good as Honda advertises. I typically get around 35 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway, even though I don't speed or accelerate hard. While the sport mode is not as responsive as I had hoped, the car still has a nice even acceleration. Unfortunately, the electric mode has been a bit of a letdown, as I only get around 5 miles instead of the 10-15 miles I had hoped for. Overall, I still prefer this car over my Mazda CX-5.

Hey there! I've been a loyal Honda driver since 2003, but I recently had an issue with my car during the 3-year warranty period. The warning lights for the transmission and blind spot indicators came on twice, but when I took it to the dealer, they couldn't find any problems. Unfortunately, it happened a third time and I had to leave my car with the dealer for 2 days. They still couldn't find the issue, but they assured me that they wouldn't let me drive an unsafe car.

UPDATE: I no longer own this car. During the summer of 2021, I took it in for routine maintenance, but due to the high demand for used cars, the dealer offered to buy it from me. As a hybrid, I was disappointed with the poor gas mileage, so I agreed to the offer. The dealer had an electric used vehicle with low mileage, which I purchased instead. I am thrilled to have gotten rid of the CR-V, as it was a waste of money. This was my third CR-V after owning the 2014 and 2017 models. Despite the attractive predicted mileage, I was disappointed to find that I got a full 25% less than the advertised mpg of 40. This was a huge letdown, as my 2017 gas model got the same mileage. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a class action suit against Honda for the CR-V hybrid's estimated mileage. Despite stepping down from a Touring to an EX-L, I am satisfied with the suite of adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and other safety features that make this car semi-autonomous. The CR-V looks sharp and I believe it will remain stylish for years to come. While some reviews criticize its appearance compared to the RAV4, I prefer a more mature look. The engine delivers plenty of power, even if it falls short on mileage.The car's power is immediate and ramps up adequately, making it unnecessary to tromp on the accelerator. Passing ability is surprisingly good, with the car spurting forward when passing on the highway. Despite the mileage being way off from what is advertised, this car is still very enjoyable and reliable. However, the infotainment system is a major drawback. It is slow, making it unsafe as one's eyesight has to be on the touchscreen for too long. The entire system freezes at times, making it inoperable. Despite these issues, this car is still worth purchasing for its performance and reliability.
