2022 Genesis G70 problems
The Genesis G70 (Korean: 제네시스 G70) is a four-door compact executive car manufactured by the Korean luxury automaker Genesis, a luxury division of Hyundai Motor Group.
The G70 debuted on September 15, 2017, at a global launch event in Seoul's Olympic Park. It is Genesis Motor's third model and was designed to compete with compact executive and entry-level luxury saloons and sedans. The Genesis G70 was named the 2019 North American Car of the Year.
Overview
The Genesis G70 was under development for several years and was previewed by the Genesis New York Concept and shown at the 2016 New York International Auto Show. The design was drafted by German auto designer Peter Schreyer, who is also responsible for designing the related Kia Stinger. Development of the G70 took place at Hyundai Namyang R&D Center in Hwaseong, South Korea.
The exterior design shares cues from the other two Genesis models, the G80 and the G90. The grille features Genesis' corporate design, with functional air intakes along the bottom and side. The LED headlights operate with separate daytime running lights. The rear has an athletic stance, framed by LED taillights and dual exhausts.
The interior's center console is constructed out of soft-touch plastics, leather & genuine metal accents that are slightly angled toward the driver. The layout has three large knobs for the climate controls, an eight-inch touch screen, and a small electronic shifter. The interior appointments on the G70 include quilted leather seating surfaces, along with brushed aluminum and stainless steel trim.

- Summary: After speaking to the Genesis dealerships closest to my residence, it was made aware to me that the recall part in question, the High-Pressure Fuel Pump, will not be able to be repaired in a timely manner due to the parts not being in stock and that the dealerships I contacted would not be able to provide service for these repairs until November 2024 (If the part is in stock at the time). The dealerships were not able to confirm when the parts would be back in stock but, regardless, they would not be able to perform services for this recall until November 2024. I am aware of the safety issues that this part has if not remedied in a timely manner so, I would like to ensure a quick resolution (Buy Back) can be completed. My vehicle has started stalling at moments of operating the vehicle and has had poor engine performance creating moments of sluggish acceleration. I have also experienced some delays in my engine starting on occasion. I feel as though this jeopardizes the safety and well being of me and anyone else who rides in my vehicle as any more wear and damage to this part could result in total engine failure leaving me without an operational vehicle and, possibly, creating an accident mid drive. I have contacted the following dealerships who both expressed that the parts for this recall are on back order and could not confirm when they would be back in stock along with the fact that they would not be able to provide service on said recall until November of 2024. - Summary: Faulty, headlight. Cracks near the screw in the middle of the headlight plastic, Which causes it to stop working, which is a safety hazard. Upon investigation, there are tons and tons of them for sale online with the same crack from the same screw in the same spot and apparently Genesis is refusing to take the blame for the faulty headlight.

- Summary: Found condensation on both headlights. Took to dealer and they stated that it was caused by rock chips and Genesis will not cover the cost of repair. I talked to Genesis corporate office and they said condensation is normal and they will not repair it. I took my car to a body shop and they said the cracks are coming from where the screws attach to the headlights. All the cracks on the headlights are where the screws are. Now the daytime running lights and the turn signals are not working. This is a safety issue.
EXTERIOR LIGHTING PROBLEM

I had to have the passenger side headlight assembly replaced due to condensation inside of the assembly which can lead to the headlight shorting out. This was replaced by Lee Hyundai in Fayetteville, NC under the warranty. The driver side headlight assembly is now experiencing the same issue and it is set to be replaced again under warranty by Lee Hyundai. After some research online, I have heard from a number of other people who own this same model and year who have replicated experiences with the headlights allowing in moisture.

- Summary: My vehicle is just over two years old and this has happened three times. Every light and warning message on the dash comes on all at once and the vehicle is put into limp mode. Going from 50 miles per hour to a little over 5 miles per hour in just a few seconds. Genesis also doesn't seem to think its an issue considering their dealers have had the car for two months and the only explanation I have been given is, "There is nothing wrong with your car" or "The car is driving great, you can pick it up." I have never felt scared to drive a car in my 10 plus years of driving until I purchased a 2022 Genesis G70.

- Summary: After a recent dealership visit for maintenance, the car began emitting a warning chime every 5 to 10 seconds and replace the tachometer display with "uneven road ahead" or "slippery road ahead". This takes place during the entire time the vehicle is on, at 5 to 10 second intervals. This renders the tachometer unusable. It dramatically decreases the usefulness of the warning chime for anything real since it is constantly going off. It is EXTREMELY distracting in city driving to have a warning alert constantly going off. Genesis is aware of the problem, but has provided no fix and simply says "June" for the purported release of a fix

- Summary: Upon pressing the gas pedal to start the car moving after a light turned green, vehicle shuddered, all dash lights came on and vehicle was unable to do anything but coast at a dangerously slow speed. Check engine light remained lit. I pulled over and turned off the engine and called the Genesis connected service with offered a repair slot. I waited awhile and restarted the car which turned on but remained in “limp mode” without significant gas boost and would not go over 40mph. I returned the car to the used car lot the following day. This car’s odometer read leas than 5K miles at this time, and was a 2022 model year.

- Summary: Popping and cracking sound since the 3rd day I owned the car- a new Genesis G70. It is now at the dealer for the 3rd time and they said the sunroof assembly may need to be replaced. I saw on a forum about Hyundais (Genesis is owned by the same) having issues with exploding sunroofs and the precursor was the sound I am experiencing. I am not alone as I saw on the Genesis forum MANY owners are having the same issue. In addition I am having a popping and cracking noise from the dash which is not being addressed and the car overall is shaky. This all started at 150 miles on the car and I’ve been driving loaners now more than my actual car. I am writing because if there is something inherently wrong with this model something needs to be done and I’ve been getting the run around from the dealership and Genesis corporate has yet to contact me and should have given the dealership is legally suppose to notify them within 7 days and the first work order was established on May 18th I believe. It’s now June 11th and the third time my car is in at the dealership it was purchased at. When I saw that post about sunroofs exploding I got very nervous and I do not want to see that happen to anyone.

- Summary: Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2019-2022 Veloster N, 2019-2023 Genesis G70, 2022-2023 Elantra N, and Kona N vehicles. The fuel pump may fail, which can result in a loss of drive power.
- Consequence: A loss of drive power can increase the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Dealers will update engine control module software. In addition, dealers will inspect and replace the fuel pump assembly, as necessary. All repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed beginning September 9, 2024. Some interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed September 3, 2024. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's numbers for this recall are 262 and 023G.

- Summary: Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2018-2020 Genesis G80, 2017-2022 G90, and 2019-2022 G70 vehicles equipped with a 3.3-liter V6 turbocharged engine. The left turbocharger oil feed pipe may deteriorate and leak oil.
- Consequence: An oil leak in the presence of hot engine components can increase the risk of an engine compartment fire.
- Remedy: Dealers will replace the left turbocharger oil feed pipe, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 3, 2024. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 019G. This recall expands and replaces recall number 19V-538. Vehicles previously repaired under 19V-538 will need to have the new remedy completed.

I see that you have owned a Hyundai for years and have recently decided to purchase a new 2020 G70 3.3T prestige after considering the Audi A4 and multiple BMWs. I am glad to hear that you are enjoying your new car and have had no issues with it at 4900 miles. It's great to know that it gets plenty of compliments and comes with many standard features that people find impressive for its price tag. It's always exciting to drive your G70, even in traffic!

This is the first brand new car I have ever bought and I must say, it was money well spent! I opted for the red exterior with brown leather interior G70 Elite and it is absolutely gorgeous. Although it may not be quick off the line, once the turbo spools up, it gets up and goes! Overall, I am extremely happy with my purchase and would highly recommend this awesome car.

I've had my G70 for about 1200 KMs (approximately 1000 miles) - 3 weeks. The car feels solid and taut, handles very well and although you feel every imperfection in the road it is never harsh. The interior is designed for both functionality and style. There are so many features and design details that make everything driver-oriented, accessible and the materials are of excellent quality. The technology is excellent, works well and can be easily turned on/off with physical buttons (thank you Genesis!). The overall luxury sports sedan experience is excellent and you combine that with a price that is more than competitive with the likes of Mercedes C-Class, Audi A4 and BMW 3 series, Lexus IS, etc. and you can see why this vehicle makes so much sense. Of course, no vehicle is perfect, so here are some cons to consider. As you probably know by now, this vehicle is small, therefore if you regularly shuttle more than 1 person around, I would make sure you are okay with the tight dimensions (same with the trunk space). Also, fuel economy is not great if you do mostly city driving like I do (I average about 20 mpg in the city with the AWD model). On a long-distance highway trip a few weeks ago, I got 36 MPG after a two-hour drive. Finally, I noticed a small rattle coming from the touchscreen display on hot days which I confirmed creaks when touched - this should be improved. I strongly recommend you check out the G70!

This car is well balanced and solid, making it a smooth ride around town and a rip-roaring experience on the highway. It can do it all! The heated steering wheel and seats are especially welcome in the cold weather. The AWD is sure-footed, and the car is a head-turner while still being buttoned down and well-mannered. It's on par with German offerings, yet the tech is pleasantly intuitive, and few inputs are required to get what you want. The build quality is bank-vault solid, and the 365HP and AWD can get you going at any speed you want in seconds. If you had any reservations about buying a luxury brand Hyundai, give this car a drive, and you'll be the first one in your neighborhood with the nicest car no one has seen before!

Exterior is looking great! The engine is running smoothly and has good pick-up. However, the interior seems to have cheap plastic everywhere and it gives off a Hyundai vibe.

Although the dealer promises concierge service, complementary maintenance, and a bumper-to-bumper warranty, the support provided is almost non-existent. Unfortunately, the Service Department at the dealer where I purchased my G70 became non-responsive, and the one I have to use is a 2-hour drive each way. The 'complementary' routine maintenance has a 2-3 month wait, and the 'Concierge Service' they brag about is 'geographically limited,' meaning you pretty much have to live next to the dealership. Since they separated from Hyundai, there's really no dealer network to rely on. However, I must say that I love the car - it's better than a C-Class. If you decide to buy a Genesis, just be aware that you may have to rely on yourself for support.

In November 2021, I purchased the 2022 Genesis G70 2.0T AWD Prestige model straight off the truck. I had done months of research and was confident in my choice, so much so that I didn't feel the need to test drive it. However, I encountered some issues with the brand from the very beginning. The pre-delivery inspection and detail of the car were subpar, leaving light 'zebra-stripes' all over the paint due to poor removal of the vinyl shipping wrappers. Additionally, one of the wheels had sustained damage during shipping. It took some time to address these problems, but they were eventually resolved when I switched to a different dealer for servicing. Unfortunately, some other issues arose over the course of a year and a half, such as peculiar electronic glitches and fit and finish issues. Despite these challenges, I am grateful for the experience and the lessons learned.After enduring these problems for a year and a half, I decided to trade in the G70 for a 2023 BMW 430i xDrive Gran Coupe with the M Sport package. It was unquestionably a superior car in many aspects, including quality, fit and finish, and the overall dealership experience. While my experience with the Genesis G70 was not ideal, I believe that there is potential for the brand to improve and compete effectively with established luxury brands like Lexus, BMW, and Mercedes in the future. I hope that Genesis will address the quality and dealership experience needed to achieve this goal. Thank you for considering my experience.

I purchased a new G70 in early May. Although the vehicle experienced a nearly total computer failure six weeks later, I am confident that the dealership will be able to fix the problem. I am looking forward to enjoying my purchase once again.
