The Dodge Dart is a line of large passenger cars produced by Dodge from the 1959 to 1976 model years in North America, with production extended to later years in various other markets.

Chrysler first used 'Dart' name plates on two Italian styled show cars, in 1956 and 1957, before it became a Dodge model name.

The production Dodge Dart was introduced as a lower-priced full-size model in 1960 and 1961, but became a mid-size car for one model year for 1962, and was then reduced to a compact for two generations, from 1963 to 1976.

The Dart nameplate was resurrected for a Fiat-derived compact car that was introduced in 2012.

Common 2015 Dodge Dart problems

Based on the complaints from owners of the 2015 Dodge Dart, several common problems have been reported:

  1. Electrical Issues (UConnect System): Owners have experienced constant connection issues with the UConnect system, leading to devices not being recognized, weak Bluetooth pairing, and system shutdowns while driving. The system's brightness at night has been reported as distracting, posing safety concerns.
  2. Battery Problems: A prevalent issue is the Dart's battery losing charge while the car is in motion, necessitating frequent battery replacements to prevent potential mishaps.
  3. Exterior Lighting Packing Issues: Substandard packing of headlights and tail lights has caused moisture to enter the units, leading to short circuits and, in extreme cases, fires due to short-circuiting.
  4. Mechanical Issues (Abnormal Engine Oil Consumption): The Dodge Dart has been known to burn engine oil at an abnormal rate, with reports of stalling and loss of power at highway speeds, posing safety risks to drivers.
  5. Transmission Issues: Common complaints include pressure plate malfunctions causing slipping gears, clutch pedal depression leading to neutral revving, and loss of momentum, resulting in close calls. Post-warranty expiration, owners bear the cost of pressure plate replacements.
  6. Equipment Issues (Bubbling on Stock Tires): Many owners have reported stock tires bubbling up, damaging sidewalls. This issue has been widespread, prompting rumors of new stock tires in newer batches.

These problems highlight significant concerns with the 2015 Dodge Dart, ranging from electrical and battery issues to mechanical and equipment-related challenges. Owners have faced safety risks, inconvenience, and financial burdens due to these recurring issues.

POWER TRAIN PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-08-19
  • VIN: 1C3CDFBB2FD
  • Components: POWER TRAIN
  • Summary: After purchasing the car used, the car got stuck in reverse and would not start or shift into/out of gear or park. The dealership determined that it was "shifter cable bushing broken out of cable eyelet" which we saw was on a recall list for these vehicles. Upon further investigation, we discovered that the recall work HAD been done while with a previous owner. However it appears that even the recall work has failed. The necessary part to fix the issue is on back order and more than one shop has confirmed that they are unable to get the part to make the repair. I spoke with a representative from Chrysler and they said that since the VIN doesn't pull up a recall, they won't help us with this issue. The car, which was purchased 6 days prior to the incident, now sits at the dealership and if it ever gets fixed will cost over $700 for repairs. Since it seems to be a failure of recall work, I'm hoping an investigation can be opened and that we and other owners could get some help with this.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-08-07
  • VIN: 1C3CDFBB8FD
  • Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
  • Summary: I’ve noticed a few times where the key fob would get stuck in the ignition of the car when I turn it off, I would have to turn the car back on and sit it in for at least 5 minutes before the fob would come out. Then the bushing cable got disconnected, the key fob stopped working I had a buy a new one and I’m still having the same issue of the fob getting stuck in the ignition. The first this issue happened was in 2023 and it’s still happening, just found out that I can file a complaint about it

UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-06-20
  • VIN: 1C3CDFBB2FD
  • Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
  • Summary: I have a back up camera as original equipment with the vehicle. For several years now, the camera will intermittently work. Many times, the camera comes on then quickly goes out. I have no picture to assist me when backing out of the driveway, the parking spot, or other situations. I need to crane my head, neck and body around to make sure the way is clear. I use the mirrors and even had my passenger get out of the car and assist in backing out of a parking spot. When I took the car to the dealership, I was told I would need to buy a new camera which costs hundreds of dollars. This week I found out there is a recall on Dodge, Jeep and Chrysler vehicles regarding the back up camera. However it does not cover the year of my vehicle which is 2015. I am wondering why my vehicle is not included. IS it because those model years are more likely not to be operating on the road??? Is it not still a safety issue? Please let me know what I can do. I like my car and it isn't junk yet.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,EXTERIOR LIGHTING,ENGINE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-05-21
  • VIN: 1C3CDFBB4FD
  • Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,EXTERIOR LIGHTING,ENGINE
  • Summary: I have a warning light on my car for P1065 and P1061 codes. These two codes comes and go away on their own. It usually occurs after starting the car and driving it for a few minutes. This causes the car to shake and slow down suddenly in the middle of the road. The car stops to shake only when I shut it off and turn it back on right away. Another issue is that my car key get stuck in the ignition sometimes after shutting it ofand I have to wait a few seconds for the key to come off or press the button on the gearshift handle a few times to make it come out. I wonder if this is related to the Transmission Shift Cable Bushing safety recall repair that was done a few years ago on dodge dart vehicles Lastly, I have been getting the "parking light out" warning messages on my car dashboard but all the light appears to be working fine. I have looked up these issues online and they appear to be common problems faced by Dodge Dart owners.

SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-03-01
  • VIN: 1C3CDFBB9FD
  • Components: SERVICE BRAKES
  • Summary: The brake booster failed mid drive leaving us without any braking assist, which means to stop the car, it took a lot longer to come to a stop which is a significant safety concern. There is a loud hissing noise only when applying the break. You can find air being blown out of the booster when you press the pedal. Brake assist is completely gone, so even keeping the car stopped while in drive requires significant pressure. Communicated with a local dodge dealership and they weren’t able to give an answer on the issue. This car shows that it was manufactured 03/15 There was a previous recall for this same model, but a year earlier. There does feel as if there is oil on the plunger of the booster. This was part of the previous recall. And as it says in the previous recall, there are no parts available to repair this. Recall: [XXX] Chrysler Group LLC (Chrysler) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Dodge Dart vehicles manufactured February 27, 2012 to January 23, 2014 and equipped with either a 2.0L or 2.4L engine. In affected vehicles, engine oil from the vacuum pump may seep into the brake booster, damaging a component within the brake booster. Recall consequence Internal damage to brake booster could result in a loss of brake assist, lengthening the distance needed to stop the vehicle and increasing the risk of a crash. Recall action Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the brake booster grommet for the presence of oil. If no oil is found, the vacuum tube assembly will be replaced. If oil is found, the vacuum pump, vacuum tube assembly, brake booster and master cylinder will be replaced. Parts are not currently available to remedy the vehicles. Owners will be sent an interim notification and then will be sent a second notice when remedy parts are available. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is [XXX]. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

POWER TRAIN PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-03-08
  • VIN: 1C3CDFDHXFD
  • Components: POWER TRAIN
  • Summary: Driving down the highway, I pushed on the gas pedal and my engine began to rev. I looked at the dashboard, and the dashboard showed I was in park. I looked down at my shifter, and the shifter was positioned in drive but the light on the column was showing I was in park. I was able to get pulled over and stopped. I moved the shifter into park and back into drive. Transmission remainder in park. I turned the car off and repeated the steps. The transmission remained in park. After the 4th attempt, I left the car off for more than a minute. The transmission finally shifted into drive. Less than an hour later, I was turning through a busy intersection, and the engine began to rev again. This time, the transmission did not show it was I park and the gear shifter was in the drive position. Due to not having enough moment to continue further, I wound up stopping in front of a car that was attempting to make a right hand turn onto the highway. This time, after putting the car in park and moving the shifter back into drive, the car engaged and I was able to move out of the way of the car that was trying to turn onto the highway. My safety was put at risk as momentum was the only thing that got me through the remaining part of the busy intersection. Going down the road or making a turn in a busy intersection and potentially being stuck in the middle of either is asking for a wreck to happen. At this point, I had only had the car for a week in which I bought it from the dealership and it still had under 100,000 miles. There were no warning messages/lights and no other indication of something was wrong. Both incidents occurred on March 8, 2024 between 3 and 4pm eastern time. The dealership stated the vehicle had been inspected prior to purchase and after stopping by the dodge dealership (owned by same person, different dealership), the service department stated spark plugs had been replaced as well as a cv valve back on 2/24.

SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-06-06
  • VIN: 1C3CDFEB6FD
  • Components: SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

Shop is replacing brake booster, had to pay out of pocket (same as recall R63, but my model year did not fall into it), just wanted to report in hopes that this model year will fall into the recall, and prevent this happening to others! " The brake booster on your vehicle may experience engine oil migration from the vacuum pump, through the vacuum supply tube, and into the brake booster. Prolonged brake booster diaphragm exposure to engine oil could cause the diaphragm to fail. This could lead to a loss of brake booster assist and/or an air leaking sound. A loss of brake booster assist could require the driver to apply additional brake pedal force to stop the vehicle. The lack of brake booster assist could change the braking characteristics of the vehicle and cause a crash without warning."

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-05-19
  • VIN: 1C3CDFEB4FD
  • Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE
  • Summary: I was driving the other day dropping off food for a customer and as I shifted my car from park to drive it wouldn’t change gears. Now let me remind u I’m stuck in the middle of these strangers driveway as they’re trying to leave their home and I cannot switch into reverse so I had to keep my foot on that break pedal the entire time. Thank god they were very understanding ( because who knows what could’ve happened) and said they were leaving for something that wasn’t very important and would go another day. Come to find out it was my CABLE SHIFTER WHICH I HAD ALREADY HAD REAPIRED PREVIOUSLY AS A RECALL. I haven’t even been able to drive the car because it will not shift into any gear. It’s currently just sitting across the street in my apartment complex as I have no way to work or anywhere for that matter. I called the same dealership (I took it to the first time I had the recall done)as soon as the incident happend to see if I could just get it repaired AGAIN (which I shouldn’t have to) and they told me that there was no way I was gonna be able to drop my car off at the dealership because they were extremely backed up so it would take 4 WEEKS before they could have anyone even look at the car. I described what it was doing over the phone to him and he said it most definitely was the cable shifter. And not only that but he also told me that even with it sitting here or there they don’t even have the part to fix the vehicle at the moment. This isn’t even the least of issues with this vehicle that I haven’t even owned for 2 years. There were never any warning lights or anything that popped up on the dashboard.

Hi there! I wanted to share my experience with my car. I was the only owner and bought it brand new. Unfortunately, I had some issues with the heater core which caused toxic fumes in my cabin. It was not a pleasant experience and even made me physically ill with headaches and dizziness. Despite this, I decided to trade it in for a VW. Thanks for listening!

Hi there! If your car has reached 80,000 miles, it's time to replace the coils, plugs, and plug wires. Additionally, you mentioned that you had to replace the bushings in the lower control arms at 86,000 miles, and now you need to replace the shocks and struts in the front and rear. Don't forget to get an alignment after the replacements! You also mentioned that the rear and front rotors needed to be replaced. I hope this helps!

When I purchased this car, it seemed like a good choice. I traded in my 2010 Dodge Charger because I wanted better gas mileage and safer winter driving (it was rear-wheel drive - in Denver CO). Although the take-off acceleration is sluggish and the drive can be choppy, the Dart handles nicely and is relatively quiet for a small car. The turbo is great and the gas mileage is decent. However, I have experienced some issues with the brakes and check engine light. Despite these frustrations, I did get 53 avg mpg on the open road. Overall, while this car may not be a worthy replacement for the Neon, it has its positive aspects.

I bought a 2015 Dodge Dart a year and a half ago. Unfortunately, I have had to replace the front axles, front and rear shocks, and it burns oil at a high rate. The car has shut off on me a few times due to low oil levels, which is frustrating. I spend around $20 a week on oil for the car alone, which adds up quickly. I use it a lot for work, so it's disappointing that it keeps turning off and not starting. On the other hand, I also own a 2004 Nissan, which has been trouble-free despite being older. I am not very happy with my Dodge Dart and will not be buying another one. I am unable to trade it in as the dealers I have approached have offered me around $3000 for it, while I still owe $13000 on it. Unfortunately, I am stuck with it until it's paid off.

This car had an engine light on when we started it and was quite dirty, as if it had been sitting for over a year without being driven. During the test drive, we noticed that the vehicle shakes when idling and makes a loud grinding sound when turning right. It's important to test drive and check the CAR FAX before purchasing any used car. We also test drove two other cars from the same dealership, and unfortunately, they also had major problems when driven.

I purchased my Dart 4 years ago with 36k miles on it. As a delivery driver, I put a lot of miles on it, and it held up incredibly well. Despite the heavy stop-and-go traffic and highway driving, the car was an absolute tank. While I may have been lucky, I couldn't be happier with its performance. However, there were a few electrical issues that I encountered. The radio often doesn't work, and the entire console won't even turn on. Additionally, the car frequently tells me that the parking light is out, even though I've checked and there's nothing wrong. Another issue is the oil problem that other drivers have mentioned. It's true that the car will stall if the oil is low, which can be a major inconvenience if you're blocking traffic. Finally, the car is quite low to the ground, and I found myself scraping it constantly. Despite these issues, I loved the car dearly and it was a mechanical beast. I'm just looking forward to having a working radio again!

This is a heavy car, but it has excellent handling and is quite roomy, with ok fuel economy.

It's 2021 and I now have 25k~ miles on it. It has been very reliable. I never had any malfunction with the GT model. Just regular synthetic oil changes. It drives very well. Feels very balanced on the road and doesn't sway, heavy and fun to drive with stick. Gas mileage has been 23mpg/avg mostly non-highway mileage. Dodge quit making them supposedly because the cost to make them was rather high and they couldn't sell them for high enough margin to compete with other 4-cylinder market.

This car is great at accelerating when you need it to. I absolutely love driving it and it's also very affordable when purchased used.

I recently purchased the SE model and I absolutely love it! On my first trip, a 320 mile journey to western New York, I had a blast driving it. The 2.0L engine with a manual transmission is a joy to drive, although I do agree with the review that acceleration can be a bit sluggish. The back window defroster isn't as strong as my previous cars, and I have noticed some ice forming while driving in between the lines of electricity. However, the cabin heat is excellent and warms up quickly, although I do have to dial it back significantly. Overall, I still stand by my review and love the car! The convenience package is a great addition, and the rear stabilizer bar and traction control make for a smooth ride at highway speeds around curves. The stereo is fantastic with great sound from the four speakers. While the front seats aren't the most comfortable, I haven't sat in the back yet. The car also has an oil monitor, gas monitor that tells you how many miles you have left in the tank, tire monitor for tire pressure, and other features that I haven't activated yet. Unfortunately, it's been too cold to try out the bluetooth connection.
