The medium-duty version of the Ford F-Series is a range of commercial trucks manufactured by Ford Motor Company since 1948. Derived from the smaller F-Series pickup trucks, the medium-duty range is currently in its eighth generation. Initially slotted between the F-Series pickup trucks and the "Big Job" conventionals, later generations were slotted below the L-Series "Louisville" trucks; the last two generations are the largest vehicles produced by Ford since its exit from the heavy-truck segment.

The medium-duty F-Series has been used for an extensive number of applications, offered as a straight (rigid) truck and a truck-tractor (for semitrailers) in multiple cab configurations. Prior to the production of the Ford C-Series, the model line was also offered in a cab-over engine (COE) configuration; a cowled-chassis variant (the Ford B-series) was used for bus production.

For the 2000 model year, the medium-duty F-Series has been branded as part of the Ford Super Duty range, consisting of the Class 6–7 Ford F-650 and F-750; Class 8 versions of the F-750 have been produced since 2011. The current generation of the medium-duty F-Series is manufactured by Ford in its Ohio Assembly facility (Avon Lake, Ohio), replacing a joint venture with Navistar International named Blue Diamond Truck Company LLC located in General Escobedo, Mexico.

Common 2005 Ford F750 problems

The Ford F750 2005 has been reported to have several common problems, which include engine issues, electrical problems, and transmission issues.

One of the most common engine problems is with the spark plugs. The spark plugs on the 6.8 Triton V10 engine, which is used in the F750, have been known to blow out, particularly in pre-2002 models. This issue can be caused by overheating, low oil levels, or driving on low oil. Ford may argue that this issue could have been caused by the owner, making it difficult to prove otherwise.

Another engine problem reported by F750 owners is poor gas mileage. The 6.8 Triton V10 engine is known for its poor fuel efficiency, which can be a significant issue for those who use the F750 for long-distance hauling or heavy-duty work.

The F750 has also been reported to have electrical problems, particularly with the back window and seats. The back window on the 2004 model has been known to fail to stay in place, while the seats, particularly the air ride bucket seats, have been reported to be uncomfortable. Electrical problems can be difficult to diagnose and repair, particularly if the dealer is not familiar with the F750's electrical system.

Transmission problems have also been reported by F750 owners. The Allison transmissions used in the F750 have been known to have issues, particularly with the torque converter. This issue can cause the transmission to slip or fail, which can be a significant safety concern.

In addition to these common problems, the F750 has also been reported to have issues with the transmission control module. This module is responsible for controlling the transmission's functions, and if it fails, it can cause a variety of issues, including poor shifting, slipping, and even complete transmission failure. A bad transmission control module can be difficult to diagnose and repair, particularly if the dealer is not familiar with the F750's electrical system.

Overall, the Ford F750 2005 has several common problems that can be significant safety concerns and can be costly to repair. It is essential to keep up with regular maintenance and address any issues as soon as they arise to prevent further damage and ensure the safety of the vehicle's occupants.
