Ford F750 problems
The medium-duty version of the Ford F-Series is a range of commercial trucks manufactured by Ford Motor Company since 1948. Derived from the smaller F-Series pickup trucks, the medium-duty range is currently in its eighth generation. Initially slotted between the F-Series pickup trucks and the "Big Job" conventionals, later generations were slotted below the L-Series "Louisville" trucks; the last two generations are the largest vehicles produced by Ford since its exit from the heavy-truck segment.
The medium-duty F-Series has been used for an extensive number of applications, offered as a straight (rigid) truck and a truck-tractor (for semitrailers) in multiple cab configurations. Prior to the production of the Ford C-Series, the model line was also offered in a cab-over engine (COE) configuration; a cowled-chassis variant (the Ford B-series) was used for bus production.
For the 2000 model year, the medium-duty F-Series has been branded as part of the Ford Super Duty range, consisting of the Class 6–7 Ford F-650 and F-750; Class 8 versions of the F-750 have been produced since 2011. The current generation of the medium-duty F-Series is manufactured by Ford in its Ohio Assembly facility (Avon Lake, Ohio), replacing a joint venture with Navistar International named Blue Diamond Truck Company LLC located in General Escobedo, Mexico.

Common Ford F750 problems
The Ford F750 is a popular heavy-duty commercial truck, known for its durability and capability. However, like any vehicle, it is not without its common problems. Here are some of the most frequently reported issues based on owner complaints and recalls.
- Transmission Defects: The Ford F750 has had issues with the 6R140 transmission, which is used in heavy- and medium-duty applications. A recall was issued due to a transmission casting defect in the upper valve body casting, increasing the chances of the main control poppet valve getting stuck wide open. This can lead to restricted lubrication flow to the rear housing bushing, excessive heat generation, transmission fluid leakage, and the loss of torque retention on the abutment plate bolts. Ultimately, the park actuator may be unable to engage the park pawl, increasing the risk of unintended vehicle movement and accidents.
- Powertrain and Automatic Transmission Cooling Unit and Lines: Certain 2021 F-650 and F-750 vehicles equipped with 7.3L gas engines have experienced transmission oil cooler lines contacting the air conditioning compressor pulley, potentially causing a transmission fluid leak. This issue can lead to transmission damage and the need for replacement.
- Electrical System Issues: Some 2011-2020 F-Super Duty, 2015-2019 Transit, 2016-2021 F-650/F-750, and 2018-2020 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 6.7L, 3.2L, or 3.0L engine may exhibit an illuminated MIL with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P207F, P20EE, P229F, P2201, and/or P2202. These codes are related to the fuel system, electrical system, and powertrain, indicating potential issues with these components.
- Equipment Issues: Some 2021 E-Series/F-650/F-750 vehicles may exhibit inoperative RKE key fobs, resulting in key fob replacement or the need for service to program additional key fobs to the vehicle. This issue can lead to inconvenience and additional costs for vehicle owners.
To mitigate these issues, it is essential to follow the manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule, address any issues promptly, and have regular inspections and preventive maintenance performed. This can help identify potential problems early, preventing more significant and costly repairs down the road. Additionally, when comparing the Ford F750 with its competitors, it is crucial to consider various factors such as engine performance, payload capacity, towing capabilities, interior features, and overall value for money to make the best decision for your fleet.

- Model: Ford F750 2005
- Report Received Date: 2005-09-19
- Manufacturer: FORD MOTOR COMPANY
- Components: PARKING BRAKE:DRIVELINE:HYDRAULIC
- Summary: ON CERTAIN MEDIUM DUTY CHASSIS CAB VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH HYDRAULIC BRAKES, THE DRIVE LINE PARK BRAKE ANCHOR BOLT MAY BE SUSCEPTIBLE TO FATIGUE LOADING. THE BOLT COULD FRACTURE OVER TIME DUE TO INSUFFICIENT CLAMP LOAD AS A RESULT OF IMPROPER ANCHOR BOLT PLATING.
- Consequence: IF THE PARK BRAKE ANCHOR BOLT FATIGUES AND ULTIMATELY FRACTURES, THE PARK BRAKE MAY NOT FUNCTION AND THERE MAY BE NO INDICATION TO THE DRIVER OF THE MALFUNCTION WHEN THE PARK BRAKE IS SET. THIS MAY CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO ROLL AWAY WITHOUT WARNING, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE PARK BRAKE ANCHOR BOLT. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 6, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT FORD AT 1-800-392-3673.

- Manufacturer: FORD MOTOR COMPANY
- Components: WHEELS
- Summary: ON CERTAIN CAB CHASSIS VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH ACCURIDE ALUMINUM WHEELS, THE WHEELS WERE NOT PROPERLY PRE-STRESSED. THIS ALLOWS CRACKS TO DEVELOP OVER TIME.
- Consequence: THIS MAY EVENTUALLY LEAD TO WHEEL FAILURE AND POSSIBLY RESULT IN A VEHICLE CRASH.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE WHEELS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MAY 17, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT FORD AT 1-800-392-3673.
