2006 Dodge Magnum problems
The Dodge Magnum is a nameplate used by several Dodge vehicles, at different times and on various markets. The name was first applied to a large Chrysler B platform-based 2-door coupe marketed from 1978 to 1979 sold in the United States and Canada. From the 2005 to the 2008 model years, the nameplate was revived for a Charger-based station wagon on the rear-wheel drive Chrysler LX platform, produced in Canada and sold on the American and Canadian market.
In Brazil, the Magnum was a top-of-the-line version of the local Dodge Dart, produced from 1979 to 1981.
In Mexico, the Dodge Magnum was a sporty rear-wheel drive two-door car based on Chrysler's M-body (American Dodge Diplomat/Plymouth Gran Fury). From 1983 to 1988 Dodge marketed a sporty two-door K-car as the "Magnum", with an available turbocharger engine from 1984 on.

Common 2006 Dodge Magnum problems
The 2006 Dodge Magnum has been reported to have several common problems by its owners. These issues span across various components of the vehicle, including the airbags, fuel and propulsion system, engine, powertrain, and fuel system.
One of the most significant problems reported is with the airbags. There have been instances where the airbags have failed to deploy in the event of an accident, posing a significant safety concern.
The fuel and propulsion system has also been a source of concern for Dodge Magnum owners. There have been reports of the system failing, causing the car to stall or lose power while driving. This issue can be particularly dangerous, especially when driving at high speeds or in heavy traffic.
The engine of the 2006 Dodge Magnum has also been reported to have problems. Ignition issues have been a common complaint, with some owners experiencing difficulties starting the car or keeping it running smoothly.
Powertrain problems have also been reported by Dodge Magnum owners. There have been two powertrain recalls for the 2006 model, one of which covers missing torque retention crimps that can lead to the rear axle hubs loosening and causing the halfshaft to disengage from the wheel hub.
Lastly, the fuel system has been reported to have issues with leaks and fuel pump failure, which can lead to the car stalling or not starting at all. This issue can be particularly problematic, especially when driving long distances or in areas where fuel stations are scarce.
In summary, the 2006 Dodge Magnum has been reported to have several common problems, including airbag failures, fuel and propulsion system malfunctions, engine issues, powertrain problems, and fuel system faults. These issues can significantly impact the safety and reliability of the vehicle, and potential buyers should be aware of these problems before making a purchase.

Depend and Reliable
Our Magnum is currently at 230,000 miles, and it still has a lot of life left! The interior has held up very well and the durability of thw car has been way better than we expected (being that this was the 1st Dodge we owned). I definitely recommend the 2008 Magnum!

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM

- VIN: 2D4FV47TX6H
- Components: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: This is the second time I have been stuck on the side of the road showing that my car has a quarter tank of gas and it just dies on me. I was rescued with some fuel and it started right back up again. Upon checking for recalls for this issue, I came across some 2005 to 2006 Dodge magnums or chargers with fuel tank recalls. I called Chrysler and they are saying my vin does not apply to the fuel tank recall. How is it, I am having the same exact issue as those vin’s affected by this recall. I think it is something to look into. I have gone on Dodge forums and read people’s stories about the same issue as I am having and I am sure they are unaware of the steps they can take with the NHTSA to file a complaint where an investigation could be imminent. Please advise. This has happened more than once so now I consider an empty tank when I am at a quarter tank reading on my gas meter.

AIR BAGS,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-09-27
- VIN: 2D8GV77386H
- Components: AIR BAGS,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: The engine in my 2006 dodge Magnum has begun stalling out after fueling precisely as described in NHTSA action number PE13016. The first time it happened I was in the middle of a U-turn at a busy intersection. The engine died and I lost power steering and power brakes. I was able to brute-force the steering wheel and narrowly avoided hopping the curb and hitting the light pole on the corner. This light pole might have just as easily been a pedestrian. I called my local Dodge dealer (Ontario Dodge, Ontario California) to explain the problem and arrange to bring the car in. I let them know that I was aware that this issue was addressed under NHTSA action number PE13016 and should be covered under the lifetime warranty extension. I was told by the service adviser that I am required to drop off my car and that it would be 7-10 days before they would look at it. I suggested that they put me on a list and I could bring my car in 7-10 days at a time when they were able to look at it. They were unwilling to do this. They're insisting that my car sit in their lot for 7-10 days before they will even look at it. This isn't a scheduling issue. I can go on their website today and schedule my car for any other service tomorrow. No, this is a punitive action. Clearly they don't want to do the repairs and they're hoping I'll just go away by making it unreasonably difficult; not to mention expensive considering that a rental car will now be required. Chrysler and their dealers are not acting in good faith with regards to their agreement with the NHTSA and PE13016. In my experience and opinion they're doing whatever they can to evade these repairs. I'm a little disappointed that a full recall wasn't ordered. The agreement the NHTSA made with Chrysler left them with a little too much wiggle room in my opinion.

- Components: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: I PURCHASED A 2006 DODGE MAGNUM LAST WEEK ON 4/4/2019 ODOMETER READING AT 109, 545. 2 DAYS AFTER I PURCHASED THE CAR IT NEEDED FUEL AND I FILLED THE GAS TANK. I THEN LEFT THE GAS STATION. WITHIN LESS THAN A MILE THE ENGINE STALLED AS IF IT WERE TRYING TO SHUT OFF. THIS HAPPENED 4 TIMES WITHIN 1 MINUTE AND LESS THAN A MILE FROM THE GAS STATION. SINCE I WAS MERGING ONTO A HIGHWAY, I COULD NOT JUST PULL OVER. I CONTINUED OFF THE MERGE AND INTO THE HIGHWAY. THEN IT STOPPED. WITH HESITATION I CONTINUED DOWN THE HIGHWAY. ABOUT 20 MILES DOWN THE HIGHWAY LATER AND DRIVING AT THE SPEED LIMIT OF 70 MPH, I ACCELERATED ON THE GAS PEDAL TO GO UP A SMALL HILL AND MAINTAIN THE SPEED LIMIT OF 70 MPH. THE CAR AGAIN TRIES TO STALL OUT AND SHUT OFF AND IT CONTINUED TO DO THIS 3 MORE TIMES. I HAD TO DRIVE YET ANOTHER 50 MILES TO MAKE IT HOME AND I WAS VERY UNEASY THE WHOLE TIME. I DID MAKE IT HOME WITHOUT ANY ADDITIONAL INSIDENTS. THE INCIDENT WAS VERY UNSETTLING. I DREAD WHAT HAPPENS THE NEXT TIME I PUT GAS IN IT AS THIS SEEMED TO BE THE TRIGGER OF THE INCIDENT. I WENT HOME TO RESEARCH THE ISSUE AND SURE ENOUGH THIS A COMMON COMPLAINT AMONG DODGE MAGNUM OWNERS. APPARENTLY THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL FOR AN ISSUE WITH THE GAS TANK. MY VIN DOES NOT SHOW UP OR QUALIFY FOR THE RECALL BUT IS INDEED HAVING THIS SHARED PROBLEM. I FEEL IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE FOR ANYONE ON THE HIGHWAY. CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY AND OR DEATH TO MYSELF, MY PASSENGERS AND ANY OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED AND ADDRESSED! ESPECIALLY AFTER FINDING THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER 2006 DODGE MAGNUM OWNERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM! TO REPLACE THE GAS TANK BY A CERTIFIED DODGE MECHANIC IT WILL COST ABOUT $2,000 IN PARTS AND LABOR. HOW DO I GET HELP WITH THIS RECALL ISSUE EVEN THOUGH THE VIN ON MY CAR IS NOT SHOWING IT IS ELIGIBLE OR INCLUDED IN THE RECALL??

What a fantastic excuse to buy a hotrod and claim it's for the family! The performance is truly amazing, just as expected. When you step on the gas, you sink into the deep bucket seats. Other drivers and curious onlookers can't help but give you a lot of looks and compliments. It's both fun and functional, with plenty of room in the front for me and my boys in the back, which was especially important for me since I'm 6-4. It's a real sleeper for people who don't recognize what the SRT-8 badge means, and I've routinely smoked other unsuspecting sports cars. It's always great fun!

I am so glad to hear that you are enjoying your Magnum SXT AWD! It sounds like you made a great choice with the 3.5L V-6 engine, which provides an impressive 250 HP. The AWD system also seems to be doing a fantastic job of keeping the car firmly planted on the road, even during hard cornering. It's great to hear that you're getting good gas mileage too, averaging between 17.5-19.0 mpg. The style of the car is also a standout feature, with an abundance of elegance and attitude in the interior. Overall, it sounds like you made an excellent purchase and I'm thrilled to hear that you've never been happier with any car before!

I own a 2006 RT with the Hemi and let me tell you, it's one heck of a car. I couldn't complain any day of the week because at the end of them all, I have my Magnum to run to. Dodge did something not too many have, and that's impress me.

I love the power of the v8 Hemi. It performs better than I expected. Lots of room, very comfortable. The sound system is also great.

Your car, a 06 Magnum SRT-8, is perfect for road racing. It has great acceleration and stopping power, and is perfect for night driving. The car looks amazing, and when you back up, it's impossible not to take a good look. However, there is a blind spot in the back. The only issue you've noticed is that when driving down long straight roads, the long wheelbase and ten inch tread in the front make it easier for the car to veer off course than smaller tread tires. But the car's unbelievable cornering ability more than makes up for it. You've wanted to own a car like this since 1962, always coveting the big cubic inch Dodges and Plymouths. Even though it was a bit expensive at 4,600.00, owning it has been a long time coming.

Hey there! Since you've had this car, you've had to replace the water pump, upper control arms, tie rod ends, gas tank, and thermostat in less than 4 months. That's quite a lot! Let's see how we can help you get your car running smoothly again.

I am disappointed with the Magnum. Dodge should allocate more funds towards the materials used in their cars rather than advertising. The car feels cheap and I regret not investing in the Hemi performance package for a better engine.

As a skilled mechanic, I purchased my 2006 Dodge Magnum 3.5 High Output AWD with confidence, performing a thorough vehicle check beforehand. While the car initially provided everything I needed, I have since encountered several mechanical, programming, and electrical issues, which have required a total of $4,500 in repairs. Despite these challenges, I remain committed to restoring my car to its optimal condition. For example, when my throttle failed at 70,000 miles, I took decisive action and replaced the entire intake system at a cost of approximately $2,200. Even with additional expenses such as the $300 battery replacement, I am confident in my ability to maintain and improve this exceptional vehicle.
