Dodge Magnum problems
The Dodge Magnum is a nameplate used by several Dodge vehicles, at different times and on various markets. The name was first applied to a large Chrysler B platform-based 2-door coupe marketed from 1978 to 1979 sold in the United States and Canada. From the 2005 to the 2008 model years, the nameplate was revived for a Charger-based station wagon on the rear-wheel drive Chrysler LX platform, produced in Canada and sold on the American and Canadian market.
In Brazil, the Magnum was a top-of-the-line version of the local Dodge Dart, produced from 1979 to 1981.
In Mexico, the Dodge Magnum was a sporty rear-wheel drive two-door car based on Chrysler's M-body (American Dodge Diplomat/Plymouth Gran Fury). From 1983 to 1988 Dodge marketed a sporty two-door K-car as the "Magnum", with an available turbocharger engine from 1984 on.

Common Dodge Magnum problems
The Dodge Magnum, a mid-size station wagon produced from 2005 to 2009, has been known for several common problems across its two generations. One of the most prevalent issues is oil consumption, particularly with the first-generation (2005-2007) models equipped with the 2.7-liter V6 engine. This problem is often caused by worn-out piston rings and valve seals, leading to the engine burning oil at a faster rate than usual. This can result in decreased engine performance and potential engine failure if not addressed.
Electrical problems are another common issue with the Dodge Magnum, particularly affecting the power windows and door locks. These problems are often caused by faulty switches and motors, making it difficult to lock or unlock doors or roll down windows, especially in extreme weather conditions.
Brake problems, including premature wear of brake pads and rotors, have also been reported by many Dodge Magnum owners. This issue can lead to decreased stopping power and even brake failure if not addressed, posing a significant safety concern.
Suspension problems, such as worn-out ball joints and sway bar links, have also been reported with the Dodge Magnum. These issues can cause the vehicle to handle poorly and make it difficult to control, particularly at higher speeds, posing a risk to the vehicle's stability and safety.
In addition to these common problems, there have been reports of engine misfires caused by faulty ignition coils, transmission problems such as slipping and hard shifts, and fuel system issues, including clogged fuel injectors and a faulty fuel pump in the second-generation (2008-2009) models.
Airbag failures have also been a significant safety concern with the Dodge Magnum, with reports of airbags failing to deploy in the event of an accident.
The engine has been known to have issues with overheating and oil consumption, while the power train can experience problems with the transmission and drivetrain. The gasoline fuel system has been known to have issues with leaks and fuel pump failure.
The Dodge Magnum has had its fair share of problems, and potential buyers should be aware of these issues before making a purchase. Regular maintenance and inspections are crucial to prevent and address these problems, ensuring the vehicle's safety and reliability.

- Date Of Incident: 2023-08-01
- Date Complaint: 2024-08-22
- VIN: 2D4FV47TX6H
- Components: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: This is the second time I have been stuck on the side of the road showing that my car has a quarter tank of gas and it just dies on me. I was rescued with some fuel and it started right back up again. Upon checking for recalls for this issue, I came across some 2005 to 2006 Dodge magnums or chargers with fuel tank recalls. I called Chrysler and they are saying my vin does not apply to the fuel tank recall. How is it, I am having the same exact issue as those vin’s affected by this recall. I think it is something to look into. I have gone on Dodge forums and read people’s stories about the same issue as I am having and I am sure they are unaware of the steps they can take with the NHTSA to file a complaint where an investigation could be imminent. Please advise. This has happened more than once so now I consider an empty tank when I am at a quarter tank reading on my gas meter.

- Date Of Incident: 2024-07-03
- Date Complaint: 2024-07-08
- VIN: 2D4GV582X5H
- Components: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: I have an 05 Dodge Magnum RT 5.7L Hemi, that intermittently stalls after filling the gas tank, and continues to do this until gas goes down a little. After dealing with/living with this problem for a while, I finally took my car to a shop and told them what was happening. They told me I needed to replace the right fuel pump module, which I did. This was 02/19/2016, at a cost of $287.94. The car had78,728 miles on the vehicle at this time. This did not fix the problem. I told the shop this, and I was told they couldn't find any other problem. After which I learned to live with it by not filling the tank up all they way. Recently I was not paying close enough attention when putting gas in, because I was washing my windshield. The car filled up until the pump clicked off. Upon leaving the gas station in morning rush hour traffic, my car immediately stalled. I was nearly rear ended. it took about 10 to 15 seconds to restart it. I was able to make the next green light to merge onto freeway, so I didn't need to slow down. (I should mention that the stalls only occur at slow speeds and stops, after the car has been filled with gas.) I had to slow way down to merge, and my car again stalled. I finally go it to start again only to have this happen 6 more times in stop and go traffic in 1 mile! Even though I was able to get to the right shoulder of the freeway until I could turn off, I caused major traffic delays. After telling a a co-worker about this, he told me he has the exact same car, which had the exact same problem. He then informed me there was an lifetime warranty to fix this problem, and his was fixed under this warranty a couple of months ago. I have found information regarding this warranty on-line, but nothing comes up when I enter my vin, even though it is the exact same year, make, and model of all the other cars that were fixed. I keep my car in top shape. It has no other issues than this...and I have been dealing with it since 2015!

- Date Of Incident: 2023-12-30
- Date Complaint: 2023-12-30
- VIN: 2D8GV58205H
- Components: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: The malfunction to report is after fueling the vehicle will stall out. There is the sign of the fuel sending unit and fuel pump cycling after the ignition is turned on. This only occurs after topping off the fuel. The safety of operation is the stalling may occur while driving as well as at sitting still. When driving and the vehicles stalls causes the steering wheel to stiffen and the must come to a complete stop, placed in park, turn off the ignition and wait for the possible reset. The problem has not been reviewed on my particular vehicle but has been reported by other 2005 Magnum owners. No other manufacturing process has inspected my vehicle. And there are no warning lights that come to indicate there is a problem.

Dodge Magnum 2008
- Date Of Incident: 2023-08-11
- Date Complaint: 2023-08-14
- VIN: 2D4FV37V68H
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: Vehicle purchased pre-owned/used Sept.7th 2022 from dealership. Had 3 open recalls which were addressed. Said recall in question is 14v567000 ignition switch problem. I have had vehicle back at dealer now 3 times for continued problem of ignition sticking in the start mode as it keeps turning over & you have to physically turn ignition off or cycle it to stop the sticking problem. Dealer has changed the ignition module 3 times & problem still exist. 3 modules in less than a year. I do understand that this is not a dealer problem as they are only the repair facility. I have called Chrysler corporation with the issue & they keep sending me back to the dealer. This is a faulty/defective part that falls completely on Chrysler & there engineering, design, development, testing, & production that is clearly not being done or accomplished. Safety issue clearly needs to be addressed at the highest level. I have seen many complaints concerning this recall that appear to not have been fixed from repeated failures. 1st attempted fix recall Sept 2022, 2nd attempted fix, Oct 2022, 3rd attempted fix Aug 2023. I have just taken said vehicle back to the dealer to hopefully address this issue again.

- Date Complaint: 2022-09-28
- VIN: 2D4GV58295H
- Components: POWER TRAIN,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: The vehicle stalled during normal use traveling about 35 miles an hour right after an intersection. MY husband was able to safely make it off the road as we live in a small town he did this by feathering the accelerator pedal. He is a mechanic so he was able to get it home by lightly tapping the pedal. If he pressed the pedal too hard the car stalled without warning so he lightly tapped on it and made it 2 blocks to our home where it has set in the driveway ever since. We spent over $1000 replacing parts such as the throttle body and the fuel pump and sending unit, egr, pcv, crankshaft sensor, plugs, injectors, intake seals, air intake temperature sensor and throttle body which include the throttle position sensor. Before we went for the cam sensor I decided to look up the issue and found so many with the same problem as us. We are veterans on a semi fixed income with a 10 month old daughter and this is our only vehicle we live in a super hot place in northern Arizona and can not afford further repairs as every part seems to be quite expensive. I don't have the fear of it dying while transporting my daughter again as it won't even stay started since the first incident. Additionally there are no codes or dash indicator lights staying on. We will be contacting Dodge in Kingman Arizona today.

If you're in the market for a slightly used crossover, I would highly recommend considering the Dodge Magnum instead. It's the first Dodge I've owned, and I absolutely love it! It's a fantastic alternative to those boring CUVs. I had been driving Jeeps for 12 years (the last 3 being a Commander), and I was looking for something that was better on gas but more fun on the road. The Magnum has a deeper cargo area than our Nissan Murano ('07 SL), costs less, and is 100% more fun to drive. Even my wife has discovered this and now I have to hide the keys to the Magnum. My daughter is only 3 years old, but she already demands the

I bought this car with the intention of driving it in the snow, but I changed my mind since I still live in the south. As someone in the car business, specifically luxury sales, I fell in love with this car at first sight. It's been a year and I've driven 16,000 miles, and I still love it just as much! I've even chipped it and added a performance filter and exhaust, which has made it an absolute blast to drive. Although I do wish I had bought the RT version.

Overall, it's been a great car for me. While it doesn't perform well in the snow, I park it during the winter and drive an SUV. I absolutely adore the sporty and robust appearance of the car. Despite not appearing so from the outside, the back seat is incredibly comfortable and spacious.

I'm so glad to hear that you're enjoying driving for the first time! It sounds like the kids' friends are really impressed with the Magnum too. And I agree, the ride is incredibly smooth.

Before buying my Magnum, I read every review I could find to make sure I was making the right choice. I was particularly concerned about how the AWD would perform and if the 6 cyl would provide enough power. Even though I live in NY, I found the perfect car in Iowa, but it wasn't easy since they didn't make many '08s with a loaded SXT AWD. However, I am thrilled with my purchase! The AWD works great in the snow and the 3.5 engine moves the car around very well. I am even more pleased with the car and its performance than I expected to be. Right now, these cars are a great buy and I highly recommend them. Don't be afraid of going with the 3.5 V6, it handles the weight of the car just fine and it does not feel underpowered. Also, the blind spots are not that bad either.

This is a perfect fit for me! It combines the best features of an SUV, sports car, luxury car, and an economy conscious car. It performs well and is enjoyable to drive and be seen in. I already own a truck that gets poor gas mileage, so I was looking for something to fill the gap, but I'm not a fan of most cars. This one is a winner!

When we purchased the car used, it was a pleasure to drive with a smooth and quiet ride, and an impressive fuel economy of 22-28 MPG depending on conditions. However, after 5 years, the car has developed some issues such as misfires and rattles in the front end, which have been difficult to diagnose. Additionally, the seats are not as comfortable as we would like, and we experienced some early alignment issues. We also noticed some brake fade and shutter once the discs heat up. Despite these challenges, we remain confident in our ability to address these issues and restore the car to its former glory.

Hey there! Since you've had this car, you've had to replace the water pump, upper control arms, tie rod ends, gas tank, and thermostat in less than 4 months. That's quite a lot! Let's see how we can help you get your car running smoothly again.

This Station Wagon on steroids is a blast to drive, with plenty of power for both highway and city driving. The AWD is also very impressive. However, I did experience some issues with the engine, having to bring the vehicle in twice to Dodge for repairs. The first time, one of my valves broke, and the second time, the engine stalled and the warning light stayed on. I am currently waiting for the results, but overall, I would say that this car is not the most reliable option.

I am disappointed with the Magnum. Dodge should allocate more funds towards the materials used in their cars rather than advertising. The car feels cheap and I regret not investing in the Hemi performance package for a better engine.
