Dodge Dart problems
The Dodge Dart is a line of large passenger cars produced by Dodge from the 1959 to 1976 model years in North America, with production extended to later years in various other markets.
Chrysler first used 'Dart' name plates on two Italian styled show cars, in 1956 and 1957, before it became a Dodge model name.
The production Dodge Dart was introduced as a lower-priced full-size model in 1960 and 1961, but became a mid-size car for one model year for 1962, and was then reduced to a compact for two generations, from 1963 to 1976.
The Dart nameplate was resurrected for a Fiat-derived compact car that was introduced in 2012.

- Summary: Vehicle VIN [XXX] transmissions shift cable bushing issue. It's broken now. Under a recall. Took vehicle to Bob Moore Dodge in OKC 09/07/2024. They acknowledge the VIN is under recall. The part is broken today. But the part is not available. Per Bob Moore Dodge the part is not available in OKC, or anywhere in the US and may never be available. The y suggested I try going to another Dodge Dealer in town - 20 miles away, David Stanley Dodge, but even then, they admit David Stanley Dodge does not have the part. And they admit the vehicle may not be safe to drive. Mopar site [XXX] clearly shows the parts are available. So I think there is an issue here. Bob Moore Dodge in OKC just does not want to mess with fixing this issue? Or is the Mopar site wrong? So it's a Dodge vehicle. Broken down now. Transmission shift cable no longer attached to the transmission. Recall on this exact issue. I'm told it's not going to be fixed today, tomorrow and perhaps never. Bob Moore Dodge in OKC contact is Aarron -844-710-0566. 7420 NW Expy in OKC. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Dodge Dart 2015
- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-19
- Date Complaint: 2024-09-05
- VIN: 1C3CDFBB2FD
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: After purchasing the car used, the car got stuck in reverse and would not start or shift into/out of gear or park. The dealership determined that it was "shifter cable bushing broken out of cable eyelet" which we saw was on a recall list for these vehicles. Upon further investigation, we discovered that the recall work HAD been done while with a previous owner. However it appears that even the recall work has failed. The necessary part to fix the issue is on back order and more than one shop has confirmed that they are unable to get the part to make the repair. I spoke with a representative from Chrysler and they said that since the VIN doesn't pull up a recall, they won't help us with this issue. The car, which was purchased 6 days prior to the incident, now sits at the dealership and if it ever gets fixed will cost over $700 for repairs. Since it seems to be a failure of recall work, I'm hoping an investigation can be opened and that we and other owners could get some help with this.

- Date Complaint: 2024-08-01
- VIN: 1C3CDFBA5DD
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: My car has an extremely bad rough idle. I’ve had an alignment done, new tires, new spark plugs. I’ve done so much work to this car. I have done some extremely deep research and it is a VERY common issue in the 2013 Dodge dart. One thing I also read, is it could be caused due to all of the ground point nuts being painted over, not creating a strong circuit for the ground. That should be a recall because I cannot physically replace all of those nuts. If that’s not the issue, there needs to be an investigation to figure out why this car feels like it will stall out, or I’m going to lose a tire going 65 on the interstate. Something isn’t right with this car and the dealership needs to diagnose it for free knowing it’s such a common issue! I have a very trusted, fully certified mechanic, he has looked at my car, and he is stumped too. No one can figure this out

I have attached copy of the receipt.
Dodge Dart 2014
- Date Of Incident: 2024-07-12
- Date Complaint: 2024-07-12
- VIN: 1C3CDFEB7ED
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: I have a few problems to be addressed because this car have a real safety issue. One issue been happening was car sometimes doesn’t start. This problem maybe stalling starting may delay in cases of personally emergency’s. Second, I got a recall letter having emissions issues? During this recall letter I receive my inspection sticker was due, then I got a rejected sticker because it did failed emissions as noticed. I tried getting issue resolve at few of the dodge dealers nearby 3 places that’s the closest which were like almost an hour away, but there were a backlog of part not available? Since those two issues I had and having time to try getting these recalls and issue resolved, dealer said not much of an issue and couldn’t find much issues? Told the dealer I had recall and starter issues also with no check engine light on. The dealer did a diagnose on the car but couldn’t find actual problem but wanted to charge me on so much other things like spark plugs change before they can find the actual issue. I paid for the diagnose about 200+ out of pocket. Came to find out they diagnosed but now check engine light is ON now and I looked under hood myself found they didn’t reconnect the engine coil to spark plug, maybe check and forget to reconnect? I reconnected myself and then no check engine lights. I had to check myself why can’t I start and then check fuse box under hood, found relay was damaged, shorted out reason why car had issues starting. This is after I changed the battery which was problem wasn’t the reason couldn’t start. I did my research on this deeply cause now I have a much bigger issue, which I was losing my brake lines. I almost got into an accident but luckily still have E-brakes. I believe it’s the brake line front driver started leaking now. On top of brake issue, no brake lights came on still.I checked for any recalls or any updates and found there were the same or typical issues? I did checked my car Vin # and it said “0 unrepaired on my vehicle”?
Dodge Dart 2013
- Date Of Incident: 2023-07-06
- Date Complaint: 2024-07-11
- VIN: 1C3CDFCH9DD
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: The service Transmisson lite came on and then it was flashing gear not available and put in N, R, D. but was stuck in N while i was driving on the interstate at 70MPH, I almost got ran over trying to get off the road. The TCM was already replaced. I had replaced the SDU and still does the same thing. This happens often. The car will sit for a while and then it will do it again. It will also rev up like up press the gas pedal down but not touching it, this will happen while setting or after I put it in drive. The Bluetooth isn't working, it will work if the battery is unplugged but then after a day or 2 it stops. I have replaced the spark plugs and ignition coils and it still losses power occasionally. The back up camera doesn't work sometimes also the air condition and the air will come on but shows that it's off. This car is a piece of garbage, and dealers will just keep selling it even though they know it has a lot of issues that they can't seem to fix. Most of the people in the forums all having the same issues that never get fixed! This car needs a total RECALL.

When I met Gladys D (The Dart), I wasn't quite sure which car to choose. My options were between a Chevy Spark, Kia Soul, Hyundai Accent, Chevy HHR, and a Hyundai Sonata (once I arrived at the dealer, the Sonata was already sold, of course). The Dodge Dart just seemed more logical in my head, only because the other vehicles had already had 90,000 to 100,000 miles and were 11' to 18' models. JEEZ! Gladys had super low miles. I had never had a Dodge before, so I thought, 'What the heck!' Honestly, thus far, I have been really impressed. I feel like a journalist getting payola from other makers. This car has been beyond non-problematic. I was informed during the process that there were two outstanding recalls, which was no big deal. I made an appointment and they were taken care of. I think the review on the Dart is biased. The car is compared to other small cars like Corolla, Sentra, Impreza, and Cruze, yet the Dart has more heaviness, which I like because I feel solid. When I need to punch it, Gladys goes! Great car... I was always taught that if you take care of your car, it will take care of you. America can make a good small car... American car makers just need to stay consistent and stop giving up so quickly.

Shop around to see what else is available in the price range. Please note that the 2.4L GT is not a performance car. However, it would make a decent daily driver. Unfortunately, the cost is too high. Additionally, it may handle poorly on wet or icy roads and there are a lot of blind spots when merging or changing lanes.

I purchased my Dart 4 years ago with 36k miles on it. As a delivery driver, I put a lot of miles on it, and it held up incredibly well. Despite the heavy stop-and-go traffic and highway driving, the car was an absolute tank. While I may have been lucky, I couldn't be happier with its performance. However, there were a few electrical issues that I encountered. The radio often doesn't work, and the entire console won't even turn on. Additionally, the car frequently tells me that the parking light is out, even though I've checked and there's nothing wrong. Another issue is the oil problem that other drivers have mentioned. It's true that the car will stall if the oil is low, which can be a major inconvenience if you're blocking traffic. Finally, the car is quite low to the ground, and I found myself scraping it constantly. Despite these issues, I loved the car dearly and it was a mechanical beast. I'm just looking forward to having a working radio again!

I found this rental to be quite uncomfortable. Unfortunately, I couldn't get comfortable due to my bad back, so my wife had to drive. I tried using a pillow, but it didn't help much. The headrest was also not adjustable and constantly pushed my head forward, which was quite frustrating. Despite the decent gas mileage, the car lacked any kind of wow factor. While it pains me to say it as a Ford enthusiast, you might be better off with a used car from a Japanese brand. I wouldn't keep this car even if it was given to me for free, but that's just my personal preference. If you're over 5'5 and 150 pounds, you might feel a bit squashed in this car. If that's the case, I recommend asking for another car or an upgrade.

I purchased my Dart when it was first released and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately, at 911 miles, all the lights came on and the engine stopped. I took it to the dealer and they had it for two weeks, but ultimately couldn't fix it and didn't know what the problem was. However, they were able to order me a new Dart, which did take over 10 weeks to arrive. During that time, I was in a rental car. Finally, I received my new Dart and kept it in the garage for the winter. Now that it's back on the road, it was doing well until it reached 6000 miles. At that point, the transmission would overheat and struggle to shift, causing the engine to rev up to high RPMs and thump badly, especially in second and fourth gear. Unfortunately, this means it's back in the shop again. I'm hoping for a quick and easy fix this time around!

In my experience, the car I purchased has been disappointing due to frequent repairs. Over the past 5 years, I have had to replace multiple batteries and radios, among other things.

Hi there! I wanted to share my experience with my car. I was the only owner and bought it brand new. Unfortunately, I had some issues with the heater core which caused toxic fumes in my cabin. It was not a pleasant experience and even made me physically ill with headaches and dizziness. Despite this, I decided to trade it in for a VW. Thanks for listening!

Hi there! If your car has reached 80,000 miles, it's time to replace the coils, plugs, and plug wires. Additionally, you mentioned that you had to replace the bushings in the lower control arms at 86,000 miles, and now you need to replace the shocks and struts in the front and rear. Don't forget to get an alignment after the replacements! You also mentioned that the rear and front rotors needed to be replaced. I hope this helps!
