2019 Chevrolet Corvette problems
The Chevrolet Corvette is a line of American two-door, two-seater sports cars, manufactured and marketed by General Motors, under the Chevrolet marque, since 1953.
Over the course of eight generations, indicated sequentially as C1 to C8, the Corvette is noted for its performance, distinctive styling, lightweight fiberglass or composite bodywork, and competitive pricing. Since the cessation of Ford and Chrysler's competitors, the Corvette is the only two-seat sports car produced by a major United States auto manufacturer and serves as Chevrolet's halo car.
Since its introduction in 1953, the two-seater has steadily moved upmarket. Originally a relatively modest, lightweight 6‑cylinder convertible, subsequent introductions of V8 engines, competitive chassis innovations, and rear mid-engined layout have positioned the Corvette in the supercar class. The first three Corvette generations (1953–1983) employed body-on-frame construction, and since the C4 generation, introduced in 1983 as an early 1984 model, Corvettes have used GM's unibody Y‑body platform. All Corvettes used front mid-engine configuration for seven generations, through 2019, and transitioned to a rear mid-engined layout with the C8 generation.
In 1953, GM executives accepted a suggestion by Myron Scott, then the assistant director of the Public Relations department, to name the company's new sports car after the corvette, a small maneuverable warship. The first model, a convertible, was introduced at the 1953 GM Motorama as a concept car; production models went on sale later that year. In 1963, the second generation was introduced in coupe and convertible styles. Originally manufactured in Flint, Michigan, and St. Louis, Missouri, the Corvette has been produced in Bowling Green, Kentucky, since 1981, which is also the location of the National Corvette Museum.
The Corvette has become widely known as "America's Sports Car." Automotive News wrote that after being featured in the early 1960s television show Route 66, "the Corvette became synonymous with freedom and adventure," ultimately becoming both "the most successful concept car in history and the most popular sports car in history."

POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-17
- VIN: 1G1YB2D76K5
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: My 2019 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, the transmission system along with the torque converter began to malfunction as the car seemed to change from different modes. This malfunction caused the transmission to shudder, which caused a very bad vibration while accelerating and driving between the speed of 25-70mph. These actions or behaviors by the car surely poses a control and stability risks well as a safety risk for everyone on the highway and to myself. This issue was confirmed by the GM dealership I took the car to on 8/23/2024 and they said they could not get to it until 9/9/2024 and they will have to do a triple transmission fluid flush based on a service bulletin (TSB 18-NA-335) which was issued by General Motors. My car gave me no warning by way of lights or messages within the car. I would like to know why this repair is not covered under the service bulletin since General Motors knows this is a issue with the cars.

This malfunction caused the transmission to shudder, creating a noticeable vibration during acceleration and driving. The unpredictable behavior of the vehicle due to the shuddering compromised control and stability, posing a risk to my safety and the safety of others on the road. The problem was confirmed by the dealership's service center, which performed a transmission fluid flush according to the service bulletin (TSB 18-NA-355) issued by General Motors. Although there were no specific warning lamps or messages, the shuddering symptom appeared several months before the repair. The dealership corrected the issue by performing the necessary service, which cost me $853.52, an amount I paid under protest as I believe it should have been covered under the service bulletin. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request, and the dealership, acting as an authorized representative of the manufacturer, diagnosed and addressed the issue.

WHEELS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-11-10
- VIN: 1G1YY3D70K5
- Components: WHEELS
- Summary: My corvette developed a cracked wheel. We took it to the Dealership that put new tires on a week ago because the low air alarm came on. They informed me the wheel was cracked and denied damaging it when putting on the new tires. “It just happens” was their claim. Now we learn there is a class action lawsuit because so many generation C7 Corvettes are suffering unexplainable wheel failures. GM is denying warranty claims and it’s costing the car owners thousands of dollars to replace wheels. The wheel I need is going to be $1200 and will likely be yet another OEM wheel prone to the same problem. Should this not be something in your agencies purview to investigate?

WHEELS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-08-25
- VIN: 1G1YY2D71K5
- Components: WHEELS
- Summary: My factory wheel cracked in two places while traveling to the Corvettes at Carlisle event. I have a little over 18000 miles on my car at this point. I have taken great care of my car and have not hit and rough potholes or obstacles in the road. I have not “tracked” my car either. I have read about many other Corvette Z06 and Grand Sport owners who have suffered the same cracked and bent rim issues with the stock GM supplied wheels. Apparently the wheels are faulty as reported by hundreds of dissatisfied owners. The cracked wheels fail to hold air pressure causing a safety situation while driving at highway speeds. I understand that there is a current class action lawsuit in progress. I feel that GM should stand by their product and replace these inferior wheels with safer, more sturdy ones..especially for the price we paid for the vehicle. At this point, the consumers need the NHTSA to help us with this situation as GM has refused to accept any responsibility at this point. They blame the consumer’s driving habits as a reason for the issue….not the obvious faulting manufacturing of the wheel. I appreciate your attention to this matter and look forward to hearing your response. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Great performance! This is definitely a racing car. In sport mode, the sound is like a Harley! The grip of the tires on the road is fantastic. It's very hard to burn rubber because the car grabs the road and launches like a rocket 🚀

Hey there! I'm so glad to hear that you're enjoying your ride in the Stingray with the top down. It sounds like an amazing experience!
Jeffery Jacobs 2024-11-04
This car is truly a marvel of great build quality. Driving it puts a smile on your face and I always get a lot of compliments everywhere I go. The body style is amazing and it truly looks like a Vette. I have driven 6500 miles so far and have had no issues. The 8 speed auto is great and the transmission runs cool due to the external cooler. This car is very fast, a Z06 without the supercharger. The C7 may be the best Vette yet. It's a great sports car that is so fun to drive and really puts a smile on your face. I am still enjoying it on 10/24/23 and it's doing great.
Leonel Okuneva 2024-11-04
I really enjoyed the performance! Although the automatic transmission should be doing clutch with this much horse power and performance, it still did a great job. The display screen and navigation are a bit outdated, but they still work well. The seats were comfortable for about an hour, and they are very adjustable. While the quality of materials used in the Corvette is not as high as in my BMW or Mercedes, the technology and horse power make it a great bargain.
