ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2015-04-23
- VIN: 2C3HD46R8YH
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: I WAS LEAVING WORK WHEN THE INCIDENT OCCURRED AND MY LIFE LITERALLY FLASHED IN FRONT OF MY EYES . I ENTERED THE FREEWAY VIA THE MERGE LANE AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH. WHEN I ENTERED THE FREEWAY I SLOWLY INCREASED MY SPEED TO 50 MPH. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 3 MILES ON THE FREEWAY THE ENGINE MADE A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE AND SHUT OFF. AT THIS POINT I LOST ALL CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, I COULD NOT STEER. MY VEHICLE SCRAPPED OFF THE JERSEY BARRIER AND I PUSHED THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. I THEN PUSHED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AS HARD AS I COULD CAUSING ME TO SKID SIDEWAYS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THERE WAS A VEHICLE BEHIND ME THAT HAD TO SWERVE OUT OF THE WAY TO AVOID HITTING ME AND IN DOING SO HE COLLIDED WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. I CAME TO A STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD FACING THE WRONG WAY ON THE ROAD. LUCKILY THERE WERE NO INJURIES BUT THIS COULD HAVE BEEN WAY WORST. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC WHO ADVISED ME THAT THE ENGINE FAILED DUE TO SLUDGE BUILDUP IN THE ENGINE. HE ALSO STATED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS ENGINE MADE BY CHRYSLER. I HAVE CHANGED MY OIL EVERY 3K MILES AND I HAVE PAPERWORK TO PROVE THIS. I CANNOT FOR LIFE OF ME UNDERSTAND HOW A KNOWING PERSON OF THIS PROBLEM CAN TURN AN EYE TO IT WITHOUT DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT. THIS SITUATION COULD HAVE GONE THE OTHER WAY, CAN WE PLEASE DO SOMETHING BEFORE IT DOES. WHAT IF IT HAPPENS TO YOUR FATHER OR YOUR MOTHER OR YOUR KIDS. THERE HAS TO BE SOMETHING WE CAN DO HERE! THANKS *TR

TOOK TO MECHANIC WHO TOOK TO CHRYSLER DEALER WHO SAID THERE WAS A RECALL BACK IN 2000 REGARDING THE FACT THAT THERE WAS A RECALL CONCERNING THE SEAT BELTS AFFECTING THE AIR BAG LIGHT. NO ONE COULD FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR EXCEPT THE AIR BAG LIGHT CONTINUES TO GO ON EVEN WHEN THE SEAT BELTS ARE NOT CONNECTED. IT IS REALLY BOTHERING ME AS I DRIVE AND THIS NOISE KEEPS BINGING AND THE LIGHT STAYS ON. WHAT IS THE SOLUTION??? *TR
STRUCTURE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2013-04-21
- VIN: 2C3HD46R7YH
- Components: STRUCTURE
- Summary: THE LIFTS ON THE HOOD AND TRUNK HAVE BOTH BEEN REPLACED BECAUSE OF FALLING. THE DOOR AND HEADLIGHT TRIM IS GOING TO HAVE TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT HAS PULLED COMPLETELY OFF THE DOORS AND HEADLIGHTS BECAUSE OF SHRINKAGE, THEN WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 65 MILES AN HOUR THE HOOD MOLDING CAME FLYING OFF AND WENT OVER THE TOP OF THE CAR AND LANDED IN THE DITCH. THESE ARE DEFECTS WHICH I FEEL CHRYSLER SHOULD REPLACE. *TR
ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2010-09-01
- VIN: 2C3HD46RXYH
- Components: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
- Summary: I BOUGHT MY CAR BRAND NEW FROM THE DODGE/CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP. I WAS DRIVING WHEN I HEARD A TICKING COMING FROM THE ENGINE, I USED MY CELLPHONE TO CALL MY MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT IT WAS PROBABLY MY TIMING CHAIN BUT THAT IF IT'S JUST TICKING IT'S NOT IMMINENT DANGER OF BREAKING. I ARRIVED TO WORK AND UPON LEAVING WORK, I WENT TO START THE CAR AND IT WOULD NOT START. IT MADE A GRINDING SOUND, I SAW SMOKE COME FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I CALLED A TOW TRUCK COMPANY AND HAD THE CAR TOWED TO MY MECHANIC. MY MECHANIC STATED THAT THE ENGINE WAS BLOWN AND WOULD COST $6000.00 TO REPLACE IT. I HAD THE CAR TOWED HOME ( 2 TOWING FEES AT THIS POINT AT $90.00 EACH). I CALLED A MECHANIC THAT SPECIALIZES IN INTREPID/CONCORDE REPAIRS AND HE ADVISED THAT I SHOULD TOW THE CAR TO HIM AS IT MIGHT NOT BE COMPLETELY BLOWN. ANOTHER TOWING FEE ($90.00) AND ANOTHER MECHANICS OPINION, YES THE ENGINE WAS COMPLETELY BLOWN AND THIS MECHANIC STATED THE REASON FOR FAILURE WAS OIL SLUDGE. I ASKED WHAT I COULD HAVE DONE TO PREVENT THAT FROM HAPPENING AND HE STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD DO, IT'S A KNOWN DEFECT IN THAT PARTICULAR ENGINE AND THAT IF I WERE TO HAVE IT REPAIRED, IT WAS HIS ADVICE TO NOT PUT A 2.7L ENGINE BACK IN, BUT RATHER A 3.2 OR 3.5L ENGINE IN AS THEY DID NOT HAVE THE DEFECT OF THE 2.7L. I NOW HAVE A PAPER WEIGHT IN MY DRIVEWAY AS I DO NOT HAVE THE FUNDS TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. I HAD TO BUY ANOTHER CAR AND NOW HAVE A CAR PAYMENT TO A CAR THAT I DON'T EVEN REALLY LIKE MUCH. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY I WAS SOLD A VEHICLE WITH A KNOWN ENGINE DEFECT AND WHY CHRYSLER WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. *TR
ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2011-04-05
- VIN: 2C3HD46R9YH
- Components: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
- Summary: HELLO, I WOULD JUST LIKE TO TAKE THE TIME TO EXPLAIN THE SITUATION WITH MY YEAR 2000 CHRYSLER CONCORDE LX. I AM A COLLEGE STUDENT AND I PURCHASED THIS CAR ROUGHLY A YEAR AND A HALF AGO WITH 41,000 MILES ON IT. THE CARFAX VEHICLE REPORT STATED THAT THE CAR HAD PERFECT ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AND IT WAS OWNED BY ONE FEMALE OWNER OVER THE COURSE OF ITS LIFE. AFTER OWNING THE CAR I NOW HAVE ABOUT 65,000 MILES ON THIS CAR, WITH PERFECT ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. I AM EXPERIENCING THE SYMPTOMS OF THE ENGINE SLUDGE PROBLEM THAT THESE 2.7 LITER ENGINES EXPERIENCE. MY RPMS ARE DROPPING TO LOW REVS AT IDLE, AND MY MECHANIC SAYS THAT THE ENGINE WILL EVENTUALLY SEIZE WHILE DRIVING. AT THIS POINT I NO LONGER DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND LEAVE IT STATIONARY IN MY PARENTS GARAGE. TO REPLACE THESE ENGINES THEY COST AROUND 4,000 - 10,000 DOLLARS. THAT IS MORE THAN THE PRICE OF THE VEHICLE ITSELF. THERE IS CLEARLY A DEFECT IN THE ENGINE DESIGN, AND ANY QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH CAN SHOW THIS. THERE ARE HUNDREDS UPON THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE IN PUBLIC FORUMS AND ENGINE ORIENTED WEBSITES. I ONLY HOPE THAT THIS ORGANIZATION INVESTIGATES THIS SITUATION, AND TAKES IT SERIOUSLY. *TR

I BOUGHT MY CAR NEW IN 2000 I LOVE THE CAR BUT HATE THIS PROBLEM.

I love my 2000 Chrysler! The leg room is fantastic, and I was pleasantly surprised to get 26.5mpg on my 120 mile commute from Eugene to Salem every day. It's the only big car I need.
-
Hi there! As the original owner, I've always taken great care of my cars. I'm thrilled to say that this vehicle has exceeded my expectations, and I'm incredibly grateful that it has a reliable 3.2 motor instead of the infamous failing 2.7. It's got plenty of pep, and with a few accessories, it's a real head-turner around town. While there are a few downsides, such as the wipers having a mind of their own and the door weatherstripping shrinking, I've learned to live with them. I've also had to replace the factory radio a few times, and the chrome lettering is peeling off like many other Chryslers. Despite these minor issues, I would highly recommend this car overall. Thanks for reading!
-
I love my Chrysler Concorde LXI! It has a smooth ride, nice handling, and sporty looks. Although, I did receive a ticket today for not having a front license plate, which is a shame because there is no room for it. Additionally, my car has had the radio replaced twice due to shorting out, but thankfully it was under warranty.
-
This is my second Concord since 1998. I really like it, but the finishing on the inside is quite poor.

I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying the looks, performance, dependability, and ride of your vehicle. The stereo sounds great, and it's wonderful to hear that everyone loves riding in it. Additionally, the trunk is impressively spacious.

I purchased this car used 3 1/2 years ago with 65,000 miles on it. Despite regular maintenance and religious oil changes every 3000 miles, the 2.7 L engine has failed, which is quite disappointing. Unfortunately, the repair cost of $4000 is not feasible for me, and many shops won't even work on this engine because they don't want to warranty it. Although the best offer I've had for the car is $50 after tow cost, I remain confident that I will find a better deal. Overall, I believe that this car has not lived up to my expectations, but I am optimistic about finding a better vehicle that meets my needs.

We purchased this car brand new and absolutely loved it. For the first 120,000 miles, we had no issues whatsoever. However, we did experience some trouble with the door locks making a bad noise when in use, and unfortunately, the engine eventually blew. It has come to our attention that a significant number of 2.7L engines have failed, and there may be a class action lawsuit against Chrysler. If you are considering a Concorde, we strongly advise against getting the 2.7L engine. We have heard of engines failing as early as 15,000 miles. While we have owned several Chrysler vehicles in the past, we have decided not to purchase another one. It is a shame, as we have a relative who works for the company.

I saved for months to buy this car and was initially impressed with its spacious back seat and large trunk. However, I soon encountered a series of issues, including a malfunctioning A/C, power windows, and rubber seals around the doors. Additionally, the 2.7 engine began to experience a ticking sound, which I later discovered was due to a well-known issue with engine sludge. As a result, the car's performance and horsepower were severely impacted. I was disappointed with the reliability of this American car and it is unfortunate that I may have to consider purchasing a foreign car in the future.

I purchased a used car from a private seller and was initially impressed with its appearance and performance. However, the car has been plagued with frequent breakdowns, leaving it stationary in my driveway. Currently, the car is at a dealership and requires a new engine, which will cost $5000 due to a thrown rod. Despite having less than 75,000 miles on the engine, it has been unreliable. In contrast, my 1990 GMC Suburban with 200,000 miles on the original engine and transmission has proven to be much more dependable, albeit less visually appealing. The engine issue is just one of many problems, both minor and major, that I have experienced. As a result, I have learned a valuable lesson and will not be purchasing a Chrysler again. I am now interested in exploring Honda vehicles.
