1995 Chevrolet Van problems
The Chevrolet Van or Chevy Van (also known as the Chevrolet/GMC G-series vans and GMC Vandura) is a range of vans that was manufactured by General Motors from the 1964 to 1996 model years. Introduced as the successor for the rear-engine Corvair Corvan/Greenbrier, the model line also replaced the panel van configuration of the Chevrolet Suburban. The vehicle was sold both in passenger van and cargo van configurations as well as a cutaway van chassis that served as the basis for a variety of custom applications.
Produced across three generations (1964–66, 1967–70, and 1970–96), the model line was sold under a wide variety of model names under both the Chevrolet and GMC brands. The first two generations were forward control vehicles (with the engine placed between the seats); the third generation adopted a configuration placing the engine forward of the driver. The second and third generations shared powertrain commonality with the C/K pickup truck model line.
After the 1996 model year, GM retired the G-Series vans, replacing them with the GMT600-platform Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana.

Common 1995 Chevrolet Van problems
The 1995 Chevrolet G20, also known as the Chevy Van, has been a popular choice for those seeking a reliable and durable vehicle for long trips and towing purposes. However, like any other vehicle, it is not without its common problems. Here are some of the most frequently reported issues by owners:
- Power Window Motor Failure: One of the most common problems with the 1995 Chevrolet G20 is the failure of the power window motors. Several owners have reported that the driver's side window motor has gone out three times, and the passenger side window motor has gone out twice. This issue can be frustrating and requires replacement of the faulty motor.
- Decreased Fuel Efficiency: As the vehicle ages and accumulates miles, the fuel efficiency tends to decrease. The 1995 Chevrolet G20 originally offered 15 miles per gallon (mpg) in the city and 19 mpg on the highway. However, due to excessive mileage, the fuel efficiency drops to around 12 mpg in the city and 14 mpg on the highway.
- Mechanical and Electrical Issues: As with any aging vehicle, the 1995 Chevrolet G20 may experience various mechanical and electrical issues. These problems can range from minor issues like air and electric window motor failures to more significant problems like timing issues and EGR valve faults. These issues can be resolved by repairing or replacing the faulty components.
- Engine Performance Issues: Some owners have reported engine performance issues, such as hesitation and knocking under low RPM acceleration. These symptoms can be caused by faulty EGR valves, TPS sensors, or timing issues. However, with proper diagnosis and repair, these issues can be resolved.
- Fuel Gauge Indicator Issues: After replacing the fuel pump, sender assembly, and fuel filter, some owners have reported that the fuel gauge indicator at the dash is stuck on 1/2 tank. This issue can be caused by a faulty sender in the tank, a bad gauge, or a bad electrical connector. To address this issue, it is necessary to diagnose and repair the faulty component.
- Lack of Power in New Engines: Some owners have reported a lack of power in new engines installed in their 1995 Chevrolet G20 vans. This issue can be caused by various factors, such as cooling system problems, alternator issues, or faulty intake and exhaust manifolds. To resolve this issue, it is necessary to diagnose and repair the underlying problem.
In conclusion, the 1995 Chevrolet G20 is a reliable and durable vehicle, but it is not without its common problems. These issues can range from minor inconveniences like power window motor failure to more significant problems like engine performance issues. However, with proper maintenance and timely repairs, these issues can be effectively addressed, ensuring the longevity and reliability of the vehicle.
