The Chevrolet Express (also known as the GMC Savana) is a series of full-size vans produced by General Motors since 1996. The successor to the Chevrolet G-series van, the Express is produced in passenger and cargo variants. Alongside the standard van body, the line is offered as a cutaway van chassis; the latter vehicle is a chassis cab variant developed for commercial-grade applications, including ambulances, buses, motorhomes, and small trucks.
In production for a single generation since 1995, over 2.5 million examples of the Express and the Savana have been produced. One of the longest-produced designs in American automotive history, the Express/Savana are rivaled only by the Jeep Wagoneer and Dodge Ram Van for longevity.
Since 1995, General Motors has assembled the Express and Savana at its Wentzville Assembly facility (Wentzville, Missouri). Also, since 2017, GM has sourced commercial cutaway-chassis production from Navistar through its Springfield Assembly Plant (Springfield, Ohio).

The recall involved inspecting the clearance between the frame rail and fuel tank housing and reworking the frame rail if necessary, free of charge.

In 2005, Chevrolet recalled certain trucks, sport utility vehicles, and vans equipped with Bosch Hydro-Boost Brake Assemblies due to a potential issue with the hydraulic brake booster pressure accumulator cracking and separating from the Hydro-Boost assembly during normal operating conditions. This issue could lead to a loss of brake assist, increasing the risk of a crash. The recall involved testing the Hydro-Boost assembly for functional operation of the two-function valve and replacing the assembly if necessary, free of charge.
- Wheel Bearing Assembly Retaining Nut
In 2002, Chevrolet recalled certain vans built without a wheel bearing assembly retaining nut, which could lead to a possible bearing separation. If this were to occur, the ABS system would be disabled, and the driver would notice a grinding noise, a decrease in the vehicle speed, and the steering will pull in the direction of the affected brake assembly. This could result in a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash. The recall involved inspecting the wheel bearing assembly and replacing it if necessary, free of charge.
- Front Safety Belt Buckles
In 2003, Chevrolet recalled certain vans with a gross vehicle weight of less than 8,500 pounds due to a potential issue with the front safety belt buckles. During a crash sufficient to deploy the safety belt pretensioner, the front safety belt buckles may not release after a crash, or may cause the buckle to unlatch in a crash, resulting in an increased risk of personal injury. The recall involved replacing the front driver and passenger side safety belt buckle, free of charge.

THE TRAILER WAS HITCHED TO A 2007 CHEVROLET EXPRESS 2500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE. UPON INSPECTION IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE EXPERIENCED A SLIGHT BULGE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TREAD. THE TIRE WAS REPLACED BY THE RETAILER. THE CONTACT EVENTUALLY EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE ON ALL FOUR TIRES. EACH FAILURE WAS ON THE REAR PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE TIRES. ON JULY 19, 2015, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE BEFORE THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR TIRE EXPERIENCED A BLOW OUT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE TIRE AND VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,226.

I TRIED IT AT LEAST TWICE AND THEN GOT BACK TO STEERING. AT THE TIME MY ASSUMPTION WAS THAT THE ENGINE HAD STALLED, EVEN THOUGH THAT HAS NEVER OCCURRED PREVIOUSLY. I MADE THE LEFT TURN, BUT I WAS BECOMING ANXIOUS ABOUT MY SPEED. I CHOSE TO SWERVE AGAINST THE ONE EARTH BANK AVAILABLE, AND THAT RESULTED IN AN OVER TURNING OF THE VEHICLE. ONCE BACK ON ITS WHEELS THE VEHICLE STARTED, RAN, AND DROVE WITH NO EVIDENT ABNORMALITIES. AT 97,000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AFTER REPLACEMENT. ALL FOUR STEEL RIMS WERE HEAVILY RUSTED INSIDE AND OUT. COOLING LINE WAS REPLACED AS WELL AS ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS.
