In 1953, GM executives accepted a suggestion by Myron Scott, then the assistant director of the Public Relations department, to name the company's new sports car after the corvette, a small maneuverable warship. The first model, a convertible, was introduced at the 1953 GM Motorama as a concept car; production models went on sale later that year. In 1963, the second generation was introduced in coupe and convertible styles. Originally manufactured in Flint, Michigan, and St. Louis, Missouri, the Corvette has been produced in Bowling Green, Kentucky, since 1981, which is also the location of the National Corvette Museum.
The Corvette has become widely known as "America's Sports Car." Automotive News wrote that after being featured in the early 1960s television show Route 66, "the Corvette became synonymous with freedom and adventure," ultimately becoming both "the most successful concept car in history and the most popular sports car in history."

It seems the part to repair has been discontinued. This represents a safety hazard for all C7 corvettes since the part is label discontinued and the camera is much needed to back to car up safely without causing injury or property damage.

The contact then stated that over time the crack expanded with several other cracks being formed on the passenger’s side of the windshield. The manufacture was notified of the issue and informed the contact that the vehicle was out of warranty. The manufacturer suggested that the vehicle be taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure could not be duplicated. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving, he heard a crackling sound on the passenger’s side of the windshield while driving over bumps in the roadway. The manufacturer was notified a second time of the failure and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 24,000.

- Summary: Previous claim w/NHTSA was filed on wrong vehicle. I am filing this complaint so that it can be associated to the correct vehicle. I was in a passenger side and rear collision resulting in serious injury and permanent impairment which resulted in a total loss of the vehicle and multiple surgeries as well as prolonged and continued impairments and care. I was struck in the passenger side door by a truck crossing 3 lanes into my 4th lane as i sat idol at a stop light, the extreme impact blew holes in the side walls of my tires. i was pushed me into the median in which i ricocheted off of and was hit a second time by the same truck tearing into the hatch and bending the frame of the vehicle declared a total loss. not one of the airbags deployed and the seat belt failed to restrain me. resulting in severe whiplash, TBI, torn rotator cuff and bicep tear, permanent loss of hearing in my right ear and a cranial fracture, back and neck injuries, hip and intestinal blockage(twisted). At the time of the accident NHTSA, dealer and GM ran VIN due to the suspicion of air bags and seatbelt failure there were no known recalls on my vehicle or VIN at the time. the first time i was notified VIN was confirmed on recall due to the vehicle being left in "test" mode was 8/13/2020 which i immediately filed a claim with report of injury related accident with corporate and they opened a claim and 30 days later stated that my claim was outside of the 3 yr statute of limitations. GM and dealer failed to file the recall in a timely manner with known issues as early as 2014 resulting in my vehicle not being repaired prior to the accident. I believe this to be a Repose Statute in Colorado that is 6 years from incident and would like to file a claim against the dealer and GM for failure to properly notify of recall. failure to notify me of the recall is negligence which resulted in permanent injury and impairment as well as continued medical care which could have been prevented.

AFTER ABOUT 400 MILES ON MY TRIP HOME, THE PRESSURE WAS ABOUT 24 PSI. I INFLATED IT BACK TO 45 PSI AND MADE IT HOME SAFELY.

THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP 2 TIMES ALREADY ONCE AT 11K MILES AND SECOND TIME AT 22K MILES WHERE THE CAR SHOULD SHUDDER WHILE CRUISING AT LOW SPEEDS. ALSO IN THE MORNING DURING A COLD START WHEN I WOULD SHIFT THE CAR FROM PARK INTO REVERSE THEN THE CAR WOULD DO A HARD SHIFT. TWICE THE DEALERSHIP CHANGED THE FLUID IN THE TRANSMISSION AND REBUILT THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION SINCE THE CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY. BUT MY CAR'S EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED ON 03/01/20, IN 06/01/20 THE ISSUE CAME BACK. NOW GM IS REFUSING TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY TO FIX THE VEHICLE. WHEN REFUELING, TANK FILLER PIPE ACCEPTS FUEL ONLY VERY SLOWLY. SEVERAL DIFFERENT GAS STATION PUMPS WERE TRIED, ALL KEPT CLICKING OFF EVERY 3 SECONDS (AS IF TANK WAS FULL). - Summary: 2015 Z06 CORVETTE CRACKED 3 REAR WHEELS (20" DIAMETER). ONE AT 24,000 MILES, ONE AT 30,000 MILES AND ONE AT 40,000 MILES. CAR IS ONLY DRIVEN TO WORK ON INTERSTATE QUALITY ROADS. NO IN TOWN DRIVING. ALL WHEEL CRACKED ON THE INSIDE. THE CRACKS STARTED AT THE OUTER EDGE, DOWN THE RIM, THEN TOWARD THE CENTER OF THE WHEEL. WHEN THE CRACK PROPAGATED PAST THE OUTER BEAD OF THE TIRE, THE WHEEL STARTED LEAKING AIR. I HAVE TWO OF THE CRACKED WHEELS PRESENTLY. NONE OF THE WHEELS ARE BENT.
2015 Chevrolet Corvette recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 5 recalls for different components of the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette.
2017-07-10
- Manufacturer: General Motors LLC
- Components: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL
- Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Buick Lacrosse and Chevrolet Spark EV, Caprice PPV and SS vehicles, 2014-2017 Buick Encore and Chevrolet Corvette, Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles, 2015-2016 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Tahoe, Trax, Suburban and Silverado 2500 and 3500 and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL vehicles, and 2015-2017 GMC Sierra HD 2500 and 3500 vehicles. While being previously remedied for recall 16V-651, the affected vehicles may not have received the complete software update necessary to remedy the recall condition. Without the update, certain driving conditions may cause the air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software to activate a diagnostic test. During this test, deployment of the frontal air bags and the seat belt pretensioners would not occur in the event of a crash.
- Consequence: A failure of the front air bags or seat belt pretensioners to deploy in the event of a crash necessitating deployment increases the risk of injury to the driver and front passenger.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will reflash the SDM software. Vehicles that have had a previous air bag deployment will have the SDM replaced. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2017. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. - Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2015 Chevrolet Corvette vehicles manufactured September 26, 2014, to October 2, 2014. In the affected vehicles the toe link outer ball joint on the rear suspension may not have been properly tightened during the assembly process. The Toe link may loosen with the vehicle use and eventually separate.
- Consequence: A toe link separation can result in a reduction in vehicle stability and steering control, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace any damaged parts, free of charge. The recall began February 23, 2015. Owners may contact GM customer service at 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet). GM's number for this recall is 14857.

- Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2015 Chevrolet Corvette vehicles manufactured August 20, 2014, to August 27, 2014. In the event of a driver frontal air bag deployment, the driver air bag module back plate may fracture, allowing the driver air bag to separate from the steering wheel.
- Consequence: An air bag that separates from the steering wheel may increase the risk of injury to the driver in the event of a crash.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver side air bag, free of charge. The recall began on October 29, 2014. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is 14594.

- Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2015 Chevrolet Corvette vehicles manufactured August 20, 2014, to September 4, 2014. In the affected vehicles, only one of the rear parking brake cables may be fully seated and engaged, resulting in the parking brake only operating on one of the rear park brake drums. Without the parking brake working on both rear wheels, the vehicle may roll away if parked on a steep gradient. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems."
- Consequence: If the parking brake cable isn't fully seated and engaged on both of the rear park brake drums, the vehicle may roll away if parked on a steep gradient, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and correct the park brake cable installation, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on October 31, 2014. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is 14620.

GM finally got it right, this is a great car for the road and track. This is my 5th Corvette, and it puts the earlier ones to shame, even my 2003 Z06. I've had it for four years and only put around 6600 miles on it, which included a round-trip from Chicagoland to upstate New York. The car has not been driven in the rain or snow. I must say, I have not encountered any negatives at all, but because of its tight suspension it does not like rough highways.

Overall, the vehicle is incredible for the price. The performance and cockpit make it a joy to drive. I am always happy to handle any errands that are needed, just so that I can spend more time driving.

I had high expectations for this car and it has delivered on all of them! The biggest surprise for me was how smooth the ride is under every day driving conditions. The performance exhaust option is a nice touch as well; this car turns plenty of heads the second you start it up!

This car is amazing! With 460 horsepower, it can launch you from 0 to 60 in 3.8 seconds or less. Plus, it's glued to curves, making for an incredibly fun ride. The striking styling and comfortable interior will make you never want to leave. It's a real head turner!
