- Summary: warning light came on checked code p0442 came up stating a small vapor leak in fuel system. replaced fuel cap , smoke test and found that the evap vent solenoid was leaking. Remove and replace fuel tank vent valve program module. Still smelled fuel. Took vette to a dealership had them do a multipoint inspection they pinpointed and diagnose the problem as the left side fuel tank module and all necessary gaskets and seals needed to be replace at a out of this world price. I believe this to be a safety risk.

This safety issue was the direct result of a faulty part from the factory [leaking fuel pump flange assembly] that manifested itself in a very strong fuel smell, both in the vehicle while driving, as well as in my garage. It was caused by raw gasoline leaking out of the primary fuel pump that was cracked and leaked out of the fitting on the top of the fuel tank. [NOTE: GM had previously acknowledged the problem in a service advisory bulletin on Jan 17, 2017 #N150682 but was not subject to a recall]. I believe this problem should have resulted in a recall, not just a Service Advisory Bulletin. This vehicle could have very easily caught fire, while driving down the highway or idling in traffic; not to mention the fact that a buildup of gasoline fumes in the confined space of a garage could have caused an explosion and / or fire. Either or both situations could have resulted in loss of life to the driver, passengers or other innocent bystanders as well as the destruction of property. There were no warning messages on the Driver Information System of the car.

Unfortunately, the condition of the platic part failing is not predicable and might not be detected within the date range GM set. My 2009 Corvette is now experiencing the issue--vapor detection which means there is a small but maybe unnoticed amount of fuel actually leaking at the top of the fuel cell. Fuel leaking in area immediately above the exhaust might well result in a fire while being driven and garaged. GM should have made repairs regardless of the Company date range. GM should make repairs regardless of when the vehicle might demonstrate a hazard situation do to a part failure.

Dealer first said my car would be covered and not to worry, but after disassembling and confirming this common issue, they then tell me I'm not covered and must pay out of pocket. My car is in pieces and they are waiting for a back ordered pump. My car has 45000 miles but is more than 10 years old so I must now pay $2,700. to correct a potentially deadly and well documented fuel system defect. Why is there no recall for this extremely hazardous defect?

A Special Coverage Adjustment was issued by Chevrolet, ref #N150682, GWM #2015682 in January 2017 which extended the factory warranty to 10 years or 120,000 miles. I purchased this vehicle in July 2020 which exceeds that extended warranty. The fuel odor is a major problem as the vehicle is parked inside a closed garage and the vapors are strong enough to enter the house. Also the fuel odor is present inside the cabin as the vehicle is being driven. Chevrolet has not issued a recall on the dangerous problem and is unwilling to work with me on what will end up being an extremely expensive repair. Their best estimate is that the plastic OEM fitting on the downstream side of the fuel pump has a minor fracture causing fuel to spew out on top of the fuel tank where it eventually evaporates, leaving no evidence of fuel leaks under the car. This problem has been acknowledged by GM as the factory warranty was extended to cover repairs of a known factory issue causing the fuel leaks.

I purchased my first Corvette in 1969, followed by a convertible in 1989, and another in 2007. However, this is my first coupe and I must say, it is the best one yet! The LS3 engine is incredibly powerful and much quicker than the LS2 in my 2005 model. The standard options are too numerous to list, but I opted for the 6-speed automatic transmission and standard rear. The arctic white exterior with beige interior is simply stunning. I also added the Z-51 package, which provides an even smoother ride than my wife's 2005 Cadillac STS Northstar. She's quite envious, just like anyone who hasn't had the pleasure of owning a Corvette. As a former CUMMINS Engine Dealer, I understand torque and I'm impressed with how well the traction control works. I've been a Corvette enthusiast for 33 years and this was a great find with only 11,200 pampered miles. At 69 years old, I've never had any trouble with any of my Corvettes. Plus, no one dares to challenge me at a traffic light!

I bought my Vette brand new in August of '09 and had the pleasure of driving it in the '09 National Corvette Caravan to break it in. It was an absolutely wonderful experience and I'm happy to report that I haven't had any problems with my Vette. I've had her for almost five months now and I can confidently say that her acceleration is truly breathtaking and her handling and maneuvering are remarkable. The styling is also a real head-turner and Vettes are unmistakable on the road. I waited most of my life to have one and finally my dream has come true. These C6 and C5 generations are extremely well-built and are definitely keepers. I plan to keep mine and allow it to grow old right alongside me (I'm now 49). I absolutely love my Vette and it's my pride and joy. Words cannot adequately describe the exhilaration I feel when driving it.

If you want to compare different brands in its class, just test drive a current vette in any form and you will see how remarkably apparent its value is. I personally purchased an 'o8zo6 coupe and felt the bug of exhilaration during the few thousand miles I put on it. Although the 505hp.7.0ltr was impressive, I traded it in after six months for a 580hp.t-top cyber-grey 6spd. callaway-vette with a super-charged 6.3l(LS3). I also added the lightest road wheel available, some oversized brakes, a short-throw shifter, sport seat package and multi-pro suspension system. The result is a vehicle that equals the ZR1 in the quarter mile and is warrantied 3yrs/36000mile powertrain for much less dinero.

I have always loved Corvettes. While my 2002 model had some electronics issues, my 2006 model was a significant improvement despite some quality problems. However, my 2009 model is even better than the 2006 one. It is impressively quiet and solid, making it a great value for the price. With 430 hp for $43,000, it's definitely a win.
