1997 Cadillac Eldorado problems
The Cadillac Eldorado is a luxury car manufactured and marketed by Cadillac from 1952 until 2002 over twelve generations.
The Eldorado was at or near the top of the Cadillac line. The original 1953 Eldorado convertible and the Eldorado Brougham models of 1957–1960 had distinct bodyshells and were the most expensive models that Cadillac offered those years. The Eldorado was never less than second in price after the Cadillac Series 75 limousine until 1966. Starting in 1967 the Eldorado retained its premium position in the Cadillac price structure, but was manufactured in high volumes on a unique, two-door personal luxury car platform.
The Eldorado carried the Fleetwood designation from 1965 through 1972, and was a modern revival of the pre-war Cadillac V-12 and Cadillac V-16 roadsters and convertibles.

Only had to do oil changes. No problems whatsoever.

I have the ETC. 300HP instead of 275. I drove both and I must say, the difference in power is quite noticeable! At 35mph, I can even break the front tires loose on dry pavement. On a recent trip from OKC to Branson, I got an impressive 28.99mpg with the cruise set at 75mph, which is even better than my brother's Mazda 323 4 cylinder! Although, he did have some trouble keeping it at 75 ;>). The only issue I have encountered is with the power antenna, which unfortunately broke. As it is a Cadillac, the replacement cost was quite high... A BUNCH!
-
This car is extremely fun to drive, although the 300hp ETC tends to 'nosetail' at full push. If you get it with the Bose system, the ride only gets better. It may lumber in evasive maneuvers, but the sheer 'push you back in your seat' feeling is impressive. While this car may depreciate badly, it's still a great buy in any used condition. As for reliability, it's too much fun to even think about the fact that this car has 3 fuseboxes.
-
Bought it used and I've enjoyed every mile. It's a strong and comfortable car, very solid.
-
Your 1997 Cadillac Eldorado is elegant, classy, and attractive, but unfortunately, it has terrible gas mileage.

You'll love the exceptional performance and handling of this car, but it's worth noting that the Northstar engine tends to consume a lot of oil. Unfortunately, the cost of fixing it may exceed the value of the car.
Amani Gleason 2024-11-09
I own an Eldorado touring coupe, and while it certainly looks great, I've had some issues with it. Unfortunately, the AC has gone out three times since I bought the car, which is a real problem when you live in Florida. Additionally, the Service Engine Soon Light and digital sensors seem to have a mind of their own, turning on and off unpredictably. I've also had trouble with the water hose belt getting tangled, causing the car to overheat, even after taking it to the dealership to replace the belt and pulleys. Overall, I've been disappointed with Cadillac for this one.
Osborne Spinka 2024-10-11
What a beautiful and sporty car full of speed! However, it seems that some unexpected issues have arisen without any clear explanation. Fortunately, the service personnel have been working diligently to fix the problems, and although it has taken some experimenting, they have managed to solve numerous issues. The first problem was a whining sound from the front of the vehicle, and the second problem was the car dying at any speed. Although it took 2 months to fix, the service personnel were able to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, the problem has returned, but I am confident that the service team will be able to fix it. Additionally, the car has had a cracked head and the steering broke on a trip, but the service team was able to address these issues as well. Overall, I appreciate the hard work and dedication of the service personnel in ensuring that my car is running smoothly.
Jarrell Waelchi 2024-03-22
I recently purchased a used car that initially seemed dependable, but unfortunately, the radiator started leaking due to cheap plastic. Additionally, the check engine light came on and while waiting for diagnosis, the mechanics speculated that it could be a major issue with an oil valve. However, it turned out to be a clogged EGR tube, which they informed me was a common problem. Although the car uses more oil than expected and gets lower than anticipated mpg, I am also disappointed that the A/C cools less than it should for a Caddy and warning lights go off and on without any apparent reason. The A/C even stopped working in the middle of winter, and I am unsure if it's worth fixing. I also had to fix the turn signal lever. Overall, I wish I had known about these issues before deciding on a Caddy. Despite these problems, I am hopeful that I can find a solution and enjoy my car in the future.
