The Buick Rendezvous is a mid-size crossover SUV that was sold by Buick for the 2002–2007 model years. Introduced in the spring of 2001, the Buick Rendezvous and its corporate cousin, the Pontiac Aztek, were GM's first entries into the crossover SUV segment. The Rendezvous featured a four-speed automatic transmission with a V6 engine and optional all-wheel-drive (Versatrak). The SUV used the same platform as GM's short-wheelbase minivans, the Chevrolet Venture and Pontiac Montana. The Rendezvous provided a passenger- and load-carrying capacity not seen in the Buick lineup since the discontinuation of the Buick Roadmaster Estate station wagon in 1996.
Technology and notable features
It was Buick's first truck in its lineup since 1923, and the Rendezvous was billed as a combination of the best attributes of a minivan (large cargo capacity, seating for up to seven), a luxury automobile (ride, handling, smoothness) and a sport utility vehicle (truck styling and available all wheel drive).
The Rendezvous was produced at General Motors' Ramos Arizpe, Mexico assembly plant, where it shared an assembly line with the Pontiac Aztek. Like the Pontiac Aztek, the Buick Rendezvous is based on a shortened version of GM's second generation U platform minivans. In lieu of four-wheel drive, the Rendezvous offered Versatrak, a full-time, fully automatic all-wheel drive system which provided sure-footed traction in inclement weather and could handle moderate off-road surfaces.
Buick benchmarked their Park Avenue sedan as the prototypical target for ride and handling for the Rendezvous. In order to provide a luxurious and responsive car-like ride, all Rendezvous came equipped with a fully independent rear suspension system regardless of optional content or trim level.
The Rendezvous' instrument cluster detailing featured teal illuminated needles and numbers set in a silver face accented by chrome trim rings that was meant to evoke the luxurious look and feel of an expensive watch or designer bracelet. On the uplevel CXL model, a driver information center on the instrument panel provided the outside temperature, compass functions, a trip computer that included readings of fuel economy, range and fuel used. An optional second generation heads-up display was also available. This was also available in the CX model. An optional tire inflation monitoring system provided readings of tire pressure and warned if out of the specified range.
The Rendezvous boasted the ability to carry seven passengers when equipped with a third-row bench, a class-leading feature that Buick brought to market before its competitors, and was able to carry within its interior a standard 4 x 8' sheet of plywood.
In support of the Rendezvous' intended role as a versatile accoutrement for busy people with families, it provided a center console with storage space and power points for a laptop computer as well as a separate spots to hold a purse, a cell phone, pager or other small items that the owner would want to keep organized and readily accessible as well as an optional rear cargo organizer system and rear seat stereo system controls with headsets.

- Summary: I bought my car from a used car lot. I had it about 3-4 months and out of the blue it overheated very quickly, the warning light was on, some type of loud buzzer was going off so I pulled over and let it cool off, it took about 45 minutes but it started back up. I checked all the fluids and coolant levels and everything was ok. This continued to happen for about 3 weeks, quickly overheat, lights, alarms pulled over, checked fluids over and over. After about 3 weeks it would quickly overheat and then shut off on its own and several times it happened so fast I barely got off the road.i took it to a mechanic that drove it around a little until it overheated which at this point only took about 3 minutes to happen. He said there was air in my radiator and he released it and it was fixed, I drove about 3 miles and it overheated again so I returned to the same mechanic and after about 6 minutes he came and told me it was a head gasket but they didn't repair those there so I called the next closest mechanic who looked at the car for about 3 minutes, stuck an air hose in the radiator and he said it was blowing out gas fumes from the radiator meaning I had a cracked head. I had to tow it 200 miles to my house, my wife drove it back and forth to work which was only 1 miles from home, she was able to do that for about a month and then the engine would start stalling at different times such as slowing to turn, pulling in to park, and some times it would stall while driving in busy 4 lane roads. Well, a little over a month went by with all these things happening all the time and finally one day she came home from work and started to pull in the parking spot and it shut off again, we had to push it into the spot but once it shut off that day it has never started since

THE NEXT DAY WE WERE NOTIFIED THE TRUCK WAS NOT WORTH REPAIRING THE DAMAGES WERE OVER 1,000 FOR POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. I TOOK IT TO GET AN OIL CHANGE AND WAS ASKED TO COME INTO THE SHOP TO BE SHOWN THAT THE ANTIFREEZE WAS LIKE YOGURT IN THE RESERVOIR. WE WERE TOLD THAT WE NEEDED A COOLANT FLUSH. THIS LED TO BEING TOLD THAT WE NEEDED A NEW RADIATOR; BYPASS HOSE; AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST, HEAD GASKET JOB AMOUNTING TO APPROXIMATELY 1600.00. WE WERE TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO OPEN RECALL BUT YET THERE WAS LITIGATION GOING ON REGARDING DEX-COOL ANTIFREEZE AND THAT IT WAS CAUSING ALL OF THE PROBLEMS THAT WERE AND ARE HAVING WITH THIS VEHICLE.

IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE STALLED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO REPLACED THE BATTERY BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

NONE OF THE START UP LIGHTS WORKED (OIL, BRAKE, SERVICE ENGINE, SEAT BELT), SO I KNEW SOMETHING WAS WRONG. I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND TRIED RESTARTING IT AND IT WOULDN'T START. I KEPT TRYING TO START IT FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES. I FINALLY GAVE UP AND WENT INSIDE. I CAME BACK OUT AND TRIED TO START IT AGAIN ABOUT 15 MINUTES LATER AND IT STARTED UP JUST FINE AND EVERYTHING WAS WORKING INSIDE. ON MONDAY, JULY 13TH 2005, I TRIED TO START IT AND NOTHING HAPPENED. I WAITED ABOUT 10 MINUTES AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP LIKE NOTHING WAS EVER WRONG. I FEEL LIKE THERE'S A PROBLEM WITH THE IGNITION SOMEWHERE. I'M AFRAID OF WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF THE CAR STALLS WHILE I'M DRIVING IT. THE ABS SEEMS TO COME AND GO AS IT PLEASES AS WELL, I DON'T KNOW IF THERE HAVE BEEN ANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THAT.

- Summary: CERTAIN DELPHI FUEL PRESSURE REGULATORS, P/NOS. FP10020-11B1, FP10026-11B1, AND FP10027-11B1, SOLD AFTER JANUARY 9, 2007, AS AFTERMARKET EQUIPMENT FOR VARIOUS PASSENGER VEHICLES LISTED ABOVE. THE UNIVERSAL PRESSURE REGULATORS (UPR) WERE PRODUCED WITHOUT AN O'RING AND RETAINER.
- Consequence: FUEL MAY LEAK, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A FIRE.
- Remedy: DELPHI WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND REPLACE THE UPR FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON APRIL 23, 2007. OWNERS CAN CONTACT DELPHI AT 877-411-8770.

TESTING HAS INDICATED THAT THE AFTERMARKET LEATHER SEAT COVERS CAN CAUSE THE PASSENGER SENSING SYSTEM TO MALFUNCTION.
- Consequence: IF THE PASSENGER SENSING SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONS, THE FRONT AIR BAG ON THE PASSENGER SIDE MAY BE DISABLED WHEN IT SHOULD BE ENABLED, OR ENABLED WHEN IT SHOULD BE DISABLED. IN EITHER CASE, IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH THAT REQUIRES AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT, A FRONT PASSENGER'S LEVEL OF INJURY MAY BE INCREASED.
- Remedy: BECAUSE A REPLACEMENT LEATHER SEAT COVER THAT IS COMPATIBLE WITH THE PASSENGER SENSING SYSTEM IS NOT AVAILABLE, GENERAL MOTORS (GM) WILL REPURCHASE THESE VEHICLES IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE TERMS STATED IN GM'S LETTER TO OWNERS. THE RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 6, 2006. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT GM AT 1-877-477-1022 TO BEGIN THE PROCESS OF REPURCHASING THEIR VEHICLE.

Although my experience with this vehicle was not ideal, I can confidently say that the issues I encountered were not reflective of the overall quality of the car. Within 6 months of purchase, I had to replace the entire steering column, and there were also problems with the transmission, heated seats, and electrical system. Unfortunately, the CD player also stopped working. Despite these setbacks, I remain confident in the brand and its commitment to producing high-quality vehicles.

When my wife and I were looking for a new car, we wanted something that was both spacious and fuel-efficient. After considering various options, we decided on a crossover. We were initially interested in luxury brands like Lexus, Acura, and BMW, but when we saw the Rendezvous, we were immediately impressed. We ended up getting a great deal on a year-old GM exec CXL AWD with all the features we wanted except for the Nav and upgraded engine. The ride is incredibly smooth and quiet, and we're happy with the combined 23-24 mpg we're getting on 87 gas. The only downside is that the base engine can be a bit sluggish if you need to accelerate quickly, but it's more than adequate for everyday driving. Overall, we're very satisfied with our choice of car.

When we first purchased this vehicle, I wasn't too keen on it. However, the more I drove it, the more I fell in love with it! It has ample space for all of the kids' sports gear, and the back seats even recline to allow them to relax on longer trips. Plus, with drink holders, storage space, and plenty of extras, it's the perfect family car. Despite its size, the gas mileage is actually pretty good - I can get about 300 miles to a tank full. Overall, I highly recommend it!

Before the grandchildren, this was a perfect vehicle for me, my adult children, and labs. However, now there are two infants that need to have car seats rear-facing, which leaves no leg room for any other seat as it requires the seat in front of it to be shoved all the way forward. In all other regards, this has been a joy of a vehicle.

Easy to handle and makes my sore back feel better. I don't have to shake my legs after a couple of hours of riding. I am 75 years old.

I would advise against purchasing one. From my personal experience, I have had numerous issues with mine despite it only having 66k miles. I have had problems with the bearings, steering, premature brake failure, ABS, AWD system, and even the heater stopped working. While some of these issues were covered by warranty, I had to fight for others under my extended warranty which they mysteriously lost.

There are some great features to this car, but unfortunately, there have been a few issues. For example, there have been some minor problems such as interior flooding due to sunroof issues, and some scratches on the windows from going up and down. However, the biggest issue was the rear differential needing to be replaced, which cost $3000. It was disappointing that Buick did not offer any assistance or explanation for such a problem in a relatively new car.

Hi there! I wanted to share my experience with the 05 Rendezvous CXL. While it's a great car, I did notice that it may be a bit small for some drivers. Additionally, I wanted to give a heads up about the winter weather - I've had some trouble with my doors freezing in cold or windy conditions. Unfortunately, the dealer wasn't able to offer a fix for this issue. Personally, I ended up installing a remote starter just to make sure I could get into my car. If you have any tips or tricks for dealing with this problem, I'd love to hear them! Just a friendly warning to make sure you ask about the freezing issue before making a purchase.
