2017 Buick Regal problems
The Buick Regal is a line of mid-size cars marketed by Buick since 1973. For nearly its entire production, the Regal has served as the premium mid-size/intermediate offering of the Buick product range. Introduced as a submodel of the Buick Century, the model line is currently in its sixth generation. From the 1970s to the 1990s, the Regal served as the Buick counterpart of the Pontiac Grand Prix and Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme.
Originally introduced as a personal luxury coupe, the Regal was later expanded to a full model line. To showcase its success in NASCAR racing, from 1982 to 1987, Buick introduced the Buick Regal Grand National, Regal T-Type, and the limited-production Buick GNX. During the 1990s, while the four-door sedan superseded the two-door coupe entirely, forced-induction engines made their return, with superchargers replacing turbochargers.
For 1999, the Buick Regal inaugurated the sale of GM vehicles in the Chinese market, with the 1997 design lasting through 2008. Following the 2004 model year, Buick retired the nameplate in North America, with the Regal replaced by the Buick LaCrosse.
For 2008, Opel introduced the Opel Insignia as its largest sedan, with Buick rebranding the model line as the Regal for the Chinese market. For 2011, GM reintroduced the Regal to North America, rebranding the Insignia sedan for North America. For 2018, Buick introduced the second-generation Opel Insignia, sourcing all production from Germany; alongside a first-ever liftback sedan, the Regal TourX was the first Buick station wagon in 22 years.
After 2020, as the division shifted away from car model lines, Buick ended sales of the Regal in North America.

SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM

- VIN: 2G4GR5GX7H9
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
- Summary: I was driving on the interstate going up the mountain and my 2017 Regal started to choke going up the incline. I was pressing my gas to the floor and nothing when this happened I quickly pulled off to the side when I tapped my brakes they felt as if I was pressing on a concrete block. I was able to stop but it was pretty scary. I had no cell phone reception going up this mountain in the dark late at night, I had to slowly drive the car home which was a good 20 minutes to go. Turns out according to my dad my brake vacuum pump busted apart so he replaced the part, he bought a GM certified part. This happened again just this past week it’s been a month and a half since the first incident. I had to spend $600 on the same part and I took it to the dealership this time. The mechanic said the part I had gotten must’ve been a faulty part he couldn’t see what the issue was and why it again for the 2nd time going up the same mountain pretty much at the same spot it happened the first time. The only difference was this time I had no other issues happening I was using cruise control hardly used my brakes the entire trip when I pulled off the exit I tapped my brakes and again it was like I was pressing on concrete. Seems odd that this happened so close together. I’ve had a lot of issues with this car once it hit 100k in miles. Electrical issues, just weird random things happen briefly and then it’s fine.

- Summary: I PURCHASED A CPO 2017 BUICK REGAL SPORTS TOURING EDITION ON 11/13/2020. ON 12/12/2020 I TOOK IT TO GET WASHED AT A HAND CARWASH AS I DO WITH ALL MY VEHICLES. I HAD TO WAIT FOR MY REAL LICENSE PLATE TO ARRIVE AS THE PAPER/TEMP ONE WOULD HAVE BEEN RUINED. AFTER THE CAR WAS FINISHED, I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF CONDENSATION WITH IN MY PASSENGER SIDE HEADLAMP. AFTER ARRIVING HOME, I RESEARCHED AND FOUND THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR APPROX. 10 YEARS WITH THESE SPECIFIC VEHICLES. I WENT AND LOOK AT THE CAR AGAIN AND FOUND THERE TO BE A CRACK IN THE HOUSING WHICH APPEARS TO ME TO BE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. THIS IS MOST DEFINITELY A SAFETY HAZARD AS MY RESEARCH SHOWS THAT IT HAS BEEN BLOWING PEOPLES BALLAST AND BULB CAUSING A DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR BOTH DRIVER, PASSENGER AND OTHERS AROUND INCLUDING PEDESTRIANS. IT ALSO SHOWS THAT WIRES WITH THESE HEAD ASSEMBLIES HAVE BEEN MELTING MAKE IT MORE LIKELY AS A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD. I CHECK THE DRIVER SIDE AS WELL AND IT APPEARS TO BE ON THE VERGE OF CRACKING AS WELL AS THE PICTURES SHOW.

This is an excellent value and a great sedan. The only complaints are related to front seat comfort on longer trips and rear seat comfort for most people all of the time.

The car's transmission required maintenance after 17000 miles, and there were issues with the calipers for the front brakes. Additionally, the headlights were weak, and the dealer was unable to provide a fix or recommendation. Despite these challenges, the car is a great sporty option. It is important to note that servicing the car at dealerships with ties to law enforcement may result in hacking or vandalism to the vehicle with the dealer's assistance. However, the issues with the car were resolved, with parts being replaced by law enforcement, rendering them useless. The wiring was also changed by the police department, and the transmission was reworked through the dealer to prevent shifting into 4th, 5th, or 6th gears. Overall, the car is a reliable and enjoyable option for those seeking a sporty ride.

The computer screen in this car is not as user-friendly as other cars I have driven.

Great car... 2016 Buick Regal Turbo 11 FWD. It's super fast, quiet, and smooth. It's also great in the snow and has the most beautiful interior I've seen, even nicer and cleaner than Lexus and other so-called luxury cars. I love it!

In September 2022, I purchased a 2016 Buick Regal with over 94,000 miles after my 2014 Nissan Sentra was deemed a total loss. While I did notice some shaking in the car, I didn't think much of it at the time. Unfortunately, I experienced some issues with the car in the following months, including difficulty starting in cold weather and acceleration problems. Despite some repairs, the car continued to have issues, including shaking and stalling. Ultimately, I decided to trade in the car and regret not keeping my trusty 2000 Ford Taurus with close to 176,000 miles. The Taurus performed just as well on a 200 mile round trip and had similar gas mileage. I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to share that I recently purchased a 2015 Toyota Yaris with over 123,000 miles on it, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. It's been such a great upgrade from my old Buick!

I purchased this car because it had only 29000 miles and I absolutely love the interior. However, when driving on back roads where I live, I can feel and hear every bump. Additionally, there is a constant noise coming from the motor. While it is smooth on smooth roads, my 2004 Cadillac actually drives smoother. Unfortunately, I am now stuck with this car. Prior to this, I had a 2016 Buick Regal which had a persistent issue with water pooling in the trunk. Despite the authorized Buick dealer's efforts to fix the issue, my husband and I were frustrated when we discovered that they had drilled holes in the bottom of the trunk to get rid of the water (which the dealer denied). Buick is aware of the number of holes in the trunk. Eventually, we grew tired of dealing with the people who sold us the car and decided to trade it in for a Caddy.

I purchased my 2016 Regal brand new and was pleased with the car, particularly the turbo engine. As someone who drives frequently for work, I have put a lot of miles on the car, and unfortunately, it has required multiple visits to the dealer. Despite these issues, I am confident in the quality of my vehicle and am grateful to have purchased an extended warranty. However, I am currently experiencing another overheating issue, which is understandably frustrating. I am in communication with the dealer and am confident that we will find a resolution. It is worth noting that all maintenance has been done at the dealer.

I wish I had test driven this car more before buying it. I noticed a lot of road noise and not enough leg room for a tall driver. I bought it used with 5000 miles and paid way too much, but still a lot less than a new one. I don't think it's worth paying over $30000 for a new one. The car feels like a cheap economy car, more like a Kia or Hyundai than a Buick. If you're considering this car, I recommend taking it for a test drive for at least an hour on the interstate to get a better sense of the road noise.

Four months ago, I leased a 2016 Buick Regal 4-cylinder turbo. Although it looked good inside and out, and my wife loved the red paint job, I found the ride a little too stiff and the blind spot monitoring in the side view mirrors lacked an audible signal, which I have in my other cars and has literally saved my life. However, I decided to go ahead with the lease. Unfortunately, in less than 1500 miles, the transmission blew! As a 79-year-old, I don't need the hassle of another problem sometime in the next 3 years of the lease. Although Buick and the dealer make you sweat blood to get a new one, I guess I'm stuck. My advice is to stick with Japanese cars to avoid my mistake!
