- Summary: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2023 Audi S5 Cabriolet, A4 Allroad, Q5 Sportback, A3 Sedan, S5 Sportback, SQ7, TT Coupe, TT Roadster, RS5 Sportback, 2024 A8, E-Tron Quattro, E-Tron Sportback Quattro, Q8, RSQ8, 2023-2024 Q3, Q5, and Q7 vehicles. An electrical connection in the front passenger seat for the occupant detection system (ODS) control module may loosen and deactivate the front passenger air bag.
- Consequence: A deactivated front passenger air bag will not deploy during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
- Remedy: Dealers will replace the passenger seat occupant detection system control module, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 8, 2024. Owners may contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 69GU.

I recently bought a BMW X5, which was quite different from the Allroad I was used to. Unfortunately, it had some minor issues and a poor braking system, so I decided to swap it for the Allroad. I'm glad I did! Before I get into the pros and cons, I want to address a concern raised by another reviewer about a 'clicking' feeling in the pedal when the car is started. This is not a defect, but rather the ABS system testing itself. It happens at around 27 mph and, while noticeable, it doesn't bother me much. I recommend taking a test drive to see for yourself. Now, onto the pros: the steering is very light at low speeds, making city driving a breeze. The Apple Carplay and virtual cockpit are awesome, and I find it very easy to make calls from the car. The driving modes (Offroad all the way to Dynamic) really change the feel of the car thanks to the adaptive dampers, so it's fun to switch them up depending on whether I want a fun or comfortable driving experience. Even with a bulky rear-facing child seat, my 3.5-year-old daughter has plenty of room. My wife (5'3'') and I (5'9'') both have ample legroom in the passenger seat. As for the cons, I drive mostly in the city, and the gas mileage isn't great. I have to be very careful to get 18 mpg (although it's a different story on the highway, where the MPG is awesome). Although it sits higher than a standard A4, the step-in height is a bit lower. But since it's a sporty car, it doesn't bother me too much. Finally, whoever thought that a plastic trunk liner was a good idea should be fired. My bags slide back and forth at every stoplight, which drives me absolutely bonkers. I'm planning to buy a rubber Weathertech liner for Christmas (not exactly what I want to do after spending $40k on a car). Overall, I'm very happy with the car. The technology, comfort, ease of getting my daughter in and out, and styling have won me over. Plus, it's actually a very rare car. While Q5s are everywhere, I might see another Allroad only once every couple of weeks.As a result, people often ask me about the car, which is really enjoyable! I also believe that the resale value will be much higher. Finally, if you are considering purchasing an A5 (which I was), I highly recommend getting the Allroad instead. It is priced the same and has all the features of the A5, but without any of the drawbacks (such as the lack of headroom and smaller trunk space).

This car is such a joy to drive! Its composure and sure-footedness are impressive at any speed. Even when going a little over the speed limit, you won't realize how fast you're going. Thank goodness for the head-up display on the Prestige trim. It's a silent and stealthy car, perfect for those of us who want to do some spirited driving while still being able to take the kids to school. The quiet cabin is amazing too. I hope you enjoy every drive!

The allroad is a fantastic car for anyone living in central Indiana! It handles slick or unplowed roads with ease during the winter months and is an outstanding highway cruiser that always feels connected to the road. The wagon is perfect for hauling bags of fertilizer or soil for the lawn and garden, making loading and unloading a breeze. I have had no mechanical or electrical problems in the 4 1/2 years that I have owned it. While there are a couple of minor complaints, such as the lack of a hitch and the need for acoustic glass on the side windows to dampen wind noise, overall it is a versatile and comfortable vehicle that I highly recommend!

I am so happy with my Allroad! Compared to my previous 2014 Q7 and 2016 Grand Cherokee, I can confidently say that the fit and finish of the 2018 Allroad is superior. It is quiet, powerful, comfortable, fun to drive and very well thought out. The cargo space is ample. My only minor complaint so far is that the cup holders were not well planned, but that is by no means a deal breaker. Update: We just had our first ice/snow event here in the Midwest and the new Quattro w/ Ultra Technology works flawlessly, allowing for a very confident drive. I can detect no difference when the system engages the rear wheels at all. I was skeptical as to how it would compare to the tried and true Quattro system, but I'm not anymore. This car drives incredibly well on all surfaces. Update November 2019: I still absolutely LOVE my car. There have been zero mechanical issues, and gas mileage is incredible on long trips. Often, we saw over 35 MPG when driving over 130 miles loaded up with a family of four. I also can't say enough about how much fun this car is to drive! It has great power and handles better than a wagon has any right to. The Allroad is absolutely GREAT in the winter, too. We get more than our share of snow here and it is no problem whatsoever. I highly recommend this car!

This sounds like a great car! It even has enough room for my dogs in crates. You mentioned that your 2006 Audi S6 just sits in the garage now, but it seems like this car is almost as quick and agile as your S6 with no turbo lag. That's impressive!

The car has a handsome design and excellent mileage, making it a great highway cruiser. However, we found that it was not the best option for snowy conditions, even with 4 new snow tires. Additionally, the ergonomics of the car were ultimately poor, which led us to sell it after only 8 months of ownership and 9500 miles. Getting in and out of the car was difficult without hitting your head or shoulders, and the back of our legs would always hit the door sill trim which sticks out too much. The gear shifter is different from standard automatics, which may be difficult to adjust to if coming from a different vehicle. The cupholders are located under buttons, which can be inconvenient and cause scraped fingers. The MMI (technology) buttons and knob are located between the shifter and the cupholders, which can be a bit confusing. We also found that the radio volume control knob was too easy to hit with a bag, which could accidentally change or turn off the volume. Additionally, the radio display would show the previous station for about 10-15 seconds after changing to a new station, which was a bit strange. Lastly, we noticed a strange click-click sound from under the car on the first acceleration after turning it on. The dealer said it was the anti-lock brakes, but we had never heard that in previous cars with anti-lock brakes. We wonder if it was the new quattro system.

It's a shame that the car drives so well and is extremely quiet, but unfortunately, the entire experience is ruined by a buggy infotainment system. The system takes 2-5 minutes to initialize, the navigation entry is worse than first-generation GPS circa 1990, and the results are not in order of distance. Additionally, the system never returns consistent results, has delayed button push, and completely forgets voice commands. It's disappointing that Audi put this out on the market. I'm only 3 months in and already looking to trade it in.

I did a test drive and unfortunately, it did not leave a good impression on me. The interior materials, especially on the doors, were not the best and had a lot of hard touch plastic. Even the sound of closing the door did not feel very solid. While I understand that it may not be a fair comparison, I have seen more solid interiors from the latest Honda products. In my opinion, BMW could improve on the solidity and quality of their interior materials to match their sleek exterior design.
