RECENTLY WE WERE DRIVING DOWN AN INTERSTATE (WITH OUR TWO CHILDREN) AND THE "CHECK POWER STEERING" MESSAGE CAME ON THE DIGITAL DISPLAY, AND RIGHT AFTER THAT THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN/LOCKED UP. WE PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY AT THE NEXT EXIT AND TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT, AS IT SUGGESTED - AND IT FIXED IT TEMPORARILY. BUT IT DID THE SAME THING TWO MORE TIMES ON SECONDARY ROADS AS WE LIMPED THE CAR HOME. LUCKILY WE WERENT FAR AWAY. HER MECHANIC REPLACED THE ENTIRE EPS (ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING) SYSTEM, WHICH WAS PRETTY EXPENSIVE - BUT THIS SEEMS LIKE A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE SINCE WE WERE MOVING AT ABOUT 65MPH WHEN IT OCCURRED. IM LOOKING INTO IF THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL SINCE THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS ON HERE STATING THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO THEM.

I COULD NOT TURN THE WHEEL OF THE CAR TO EXIT MY PARKING SPACE SO I CALLED A TOW TRUCK. THE TOW TRUCK OPERATOR WAS ABLE TO MUSCLE THE CAR ONTO THE FLATBED. MY MECHANIC'S DIAGNOSTIC TEST INDICATED THAT THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING MODULE HAD FAILED. THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF ANY PROBLEM PRIOR TO THIS FAILURE. THE CAR HAS 59K MILES AND IS WELL MAINTAINED. THE WEATHER WHEN THIS OCCURRED WAS CLEAR. I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH ACURA (CASE #05948611) BECAUSE I SEE THAT THIS UNIT HAS FAILED FOR OTHER OWNERS WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION CREATING AN EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD.

FIRST TIME ABOUT 30 DEGREES, SECOND TIME 18 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT - THIS WAS THE FIRST DRIVE OF THE DAY AND HAPPENED AFTER TRAVELING APPROX. 10 FT THE FIRST TIME, AND THEN 100 FT THE SECOND TIME. - AFTER THE FAILURE, BREAKS STARTED TO WORK NORMALLY AFTER PUMPING THE PEDALS AND BREAKING SLOWLY A FEW TIMES. IT ALMOST FELT AS IF THE BREAKING MECHANISM WAS FROZEN, THEN DEFROSTED AFTER SOME USE. - THE BRAKE PEDAL FELT AS IT DID NOT TRAVEL MUCH DURING THE FAILURE. - Summary: 2012 ACURA TSX SPORTS WAGON (~31K MILES) - FAILURE OF ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING (EPS). LAST WEEK I PARKED THE VEHICLE WITH WHEELS TURNED TO THE LEFT AND WHEN I RESTARTED THE CAR AFTER FEW MINUTES, THE POWER STEERING WAS GONE. I TURNED THE CAR OFF, RESTARTED IT AGAIN AND THE POWER STEERING CAME BACK. DID NOT THINK MUCH OF IT. THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT AGAIN (COMPLETE FAILURE) A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO WHILE DRIVING ON A STREET WITH MY FAMILY. I FELT THE STEERING WHEEL "JERK" TO LEFT AND RIGHT AND THEN A COMPLETE LOSS OF THE POWER STEERING. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN THE CAR IN LANE AND PULL IT OVER WITH USING A LOT OF FORCE. TURNING THE CAR ON AND OFF DID NOT HELP. THIS IS A GREAT SAFETY CONCERN. HAD I BEEN DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY OR A CURVY ROAD, COULD HAVE ENDED IN A HORRIBLE ACCIDENT. WITHOUT THE POWER STEERING IT REQUIRES A LOT OF FORCE TO CONTROL THE CAR. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT IS THE EPS UNIT (~$1,200 PARTS PLUS LABOR) . I CALLED ACURA'S MAIN OFFICE WITH MY CONCERN. THEY PROMISED TO LOOK INTO THIS AND TALK TO THE DEALER ABOUT DISCOUNTED FIX (MANUFACTURER WARRANTY JUST EXPIRED). I CHECKED THE INTERNET AND THERE IS OVER A HUNDRED OF SIMILAR EPS COMPLAINTS FOR ACURA AND HONDA. THERE WAS AN INVESTIGATION OPENED UNDER HONDA, HOWEVER, IT WAS CLOSED WITHOUT A RECALL. THIS IS A GREAT SAFETY CONCERN AND SHOULD BE A RECALL.

- Summary: Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2009-2014 Acura TSX, 2011-2013 TSX Sport Wagon, and 2010-2012 ZDX and 2008-2012 Honda Accord, 2010-2011 Accord Crosstour, 2006-2011 Civic, Civic Hybrid and Civic NGV, 2012-2014 Crosstour, 2007-2011 CR-V, 2009-2013 Fit, 2010-2013 Insight, and 2009-2015 Pilot vehicles. The front passenger air bag inflator may have been installed incorrectly during replacement.
- Consequence: An incorrectly installed air bag inflator may not properly deploy the passenger frontal air bag in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
- Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the inflator installation and, if necessary, replace the passenger frontal air bag module assembly, free of charge. The recall began July 5, 2019. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are M4O, P4R, T4Q, and W4P.

These vehicles are equipped with certain air bag inflators assembled as part of the frontal air bag modules, and used as original equipment or replacement equipment (such as after a vehicle crash necessitating replacement of the original air bags), may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to higher absolute humidity, temperature and temperature cycling.
- Consequence: An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
- Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger frontal air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began February 16, 2018. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are B0K and L0J.

Congratulations on your TSX Sports Wagon! It's great to hear that you are enjoying it so much. I noticed some negative reviews online, but I'm glad to see that you disagree with them. It sounds like you made a smart choice by getting a 2012 model at a discounted price. While the Ford Escape Titanium and 2014 Mazda CX7 are also great options, I can understand why you preferred the Acura. The Acura's handling and cargo space are definitely impressive. I recently sold my 03' Toyota Tacoma Double Cab and picked up my TSX Wagon at the end of March. I am extremely pleased with my purchase so far. While I did not expect it to be a sports car, I find that it has decent power. The gas mileage is also a huge plus, as it is easily 7-8mpg better than my truck. Although the cargo capacity is less than my truck, I was still able to load a 4 burner gas grill (in box) from Lowes into the back cargo area along with the gas tank and a few accessories. The tech package is quite extensive, and while I only know a handful of voice commands, the navigation works great, the power lift gate is very useful, and the sound system sounds great. Overall, I am really happy with the car.

Try to figure out why VW did not launch the Passat Variant for its new model! The stationwagon segment has so few models in the mid range segment. As a fellow German car fan, I recently had the opportunity to try the Acura for the first time and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed with its driving experience. It reminded me of my Audi A3 - so nimble and tight in curves. Additionally, the interior is simply gorgeous.

Definitely rides like a luxury car without the price tag. I was even able to fit a 60-inch TV in the cargo area! While it can be a bit sluggish on acceleration and I have had some issues with the Bluetooth connectivity, I am still happy with it. Plus, I haven't had any major maintenance costs at 45,000 miles yet. The dealer support has been super helpful too!

Congratulations on your new 2012 TSX wagon! Thank you for sharing your feedback. It's great to hear that you are getting around 33 mpg on flat roads when keeping it under 75mph. For city/suburban driving, 24-25 mpg is still pretty good. The handling and interior comfort are both very good, which is always important. While the performance is average to good, it's not really a sporty car. I understand your concern about the price, but it's good to know that you have had reliable experiences with Honda products in the past. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts!
