2002 Acura Rsx problems
The fourth-generation Honda Integra (chassis code DC5), produced by Honda, was introduced in Japan on 13 April 2001, and produced from July 2001 until August 2006. It was introduced in North America on 2 July 2001 as the Acura RSX, the name a part of Acura's naming scheme changing the names of its models from recognizable names like "Integra" or "Legend" to alphabetical designations in order for buyers to build more recognition to the marque, and not the individual cars.
Chassis and drivetrain
In concordance with the introduction of the Integra's platform mate, the seventh-generation Civic being introduced in 2000, the Integra joined the Civic in abandoning Honda's traditional double wishbone suspension at both ends and adopted MacPherson struts in the front and trailing arm type suspension in the rear along with the new K-series engine supplanting the B-series.
The K-series engine features intelligent VTEC (or i-VTEC), which electronically adjusts valve lift and duration between separate cam profiles, as well as valve timing with the implementation of a continuously variable sprocket, giving the 2.0 L engine a flatter torque curve relative to previous VTEC implementations which only adjusted valve lift and valve duration.

ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2013-09-14
- VIN: JH4DC54872C
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: WHILE DRIVING APPROX 60 MPH FREEWAY, MY CAR SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING STARTED RUNNING VERY ROUGH AND NOISILY AND SHUDDERED, A VERY FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN PERFECTLY MAINTAINED SINCE PURCHASE AND HAD ONLY A FEW WEEKS EARLIER UNDERGONE A 75,000 MILE TUNE-UP. MY MECHANIC DIAGNOSED AND CONFIRMED THE PROBLEM IS A DAMAGED/LOOSENED TIMING CHAIN DUE TO A DEFECTIVE AUTO TENSIONER. THIS IS MY ONLY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION. NHTSA RECORDS DISCLOSES SERVICE BULLETIN #090105 CLEARLY IDENTIFYING A "DEFECTIVE AUTO TENSIONER". THESE REPAIRS WILL COST NEARLY $2,000! WHY IS THIS NOT A RECALL INSTEAD OF A SIMPLE SERVICE BULLETIN WHEN YOUR RECORDS INDICATE NUMEROUS CARS ARE AFFECTED? THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE IN ADDITION TO BEING A FACTORY DEFECT AS THE TENSIONER CAN SEIZE THE ENGINE UPON FAILURE AND CAUSE THE CAR TO LOSE CONTROL, ENDANGERING NOT ONLY MYSELF AND MY PASSENGERS BUT OTHER DRIVERS WHO MAY BE AROUND ME. ACURA OF LYNNWOOD SERVICE MANAGER [XXX] HAS BEEN HOSTILE AND UNCOOPERATIVE AND REFUSED TO MEET WITH ME AFTER I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH HIM, AND WILL NOT AUTHORIZE THE REPAIRS AND THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT AUTHORIZED REPAIRS. I WAS VICTIMIZED ONCE BEFORE BY LYNNWOOD ACURA WHEN THE CAR ENGINE ON MY FIRST RSX BLEW UP (AT 5000 MILES!) DUE TO ERROR OF MECHANICS (DOUBLE-GASKETED OIL FILTER) AND NOW THE REPLACEMENT VEHICLE IS DEFECTIVE. I'VE BEEN TRYING TO GET THIS RESOLVED SINCE SEPTEMBER 2013. PLEASE HELP! *TR

POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2009-01-03

WAS VERY FORTUNATE THAT NO CRASH OCCURRED BUT INJURIES/FATALITIES COULD HAVE EASILY RESULTED. ACURA HAS FAILED TO OWN-UP TO THIS ENGINE/TRANSMISSION FAILURE ISSUE, EVEN IN CASES WHERE THE WARRANTY IS STILL VALID... I FEEL VERY MUCH MISLEAD AS I HAVE COMPLAINED TO MY DEALER SINCE PURCHASE AND THEY ALWAYS REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM... I THINK THE FACT THAT ACURA HAS STOPPED MAKING THE RSX IS AN INDICATION OF THE SEVERITY OF THESE "HIDDEN" ISSUES. *TR

THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE WIRING HARNESS FOR THE SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY AT THE COST OF $500. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT ASSUME ANY RESPONSIBILITY BECAUSE THE VEHICLE EXCEEDED ITS WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,000. Hi there! It's true that the standard RSX may not be the fastest, best looking, or most nimble car out there, but it definitely holds its own. The acceleration, cornering, and braking are all above average, which makes for a really enjoyable driving experience. What really sold me on this car was its reliability and performance. I have no doubt that it will continue to perform just as well three years from now as it does today. While the engine may not be the most exciting at lower speeds, it really comes to life once the rpm's go above 5000. Overall, I'm really happy with my decision to purchase this car and would definitely recommend it to others!
Wyman Murazik 2024-10-29
This car is amazing! I'm only 17 and this is my first car, but I've driven Celicas and Eclipses to compare it to. I feel like I got a great deal! If you're thinking of getting one, I highly recommend getting it with the OEM Under Body Spoilers and the Wing Spoiler! They make the car look so nice and clean, yet sporty at the same time. It adds so much more depth to the character of the RSX, which is already rich. I got mine with leather, and I just had to share my wonderful thoughts with you! I just wanted to tell you how great of a car it is! I've driven 6200 miles up to date and it's still going strong!
King Dooley 2024-10-19
This car is really enjoyable to drive. I find myself smiling as I drive down the road, especially on the twisty ones. It's also great that all the cool kids look at me in awe.
Dylan Casper 2024-10-05
Just got my RSX and I absolutely love it! It handles great, looks good, and the mileage is impressive too. I'm still on their FREE tank with 350 miles (averaging around 26 mpg) in town. Once it hits about 3000rpm, you can really feel the power! And with a red-line of 6800, this car is going to be so much fun!
Hipolito O'Connell 2024-09-09
The Base RSX is a quick and nimble car that comes with only the necessary options. A Type-S without leather would be perfect. Although the sound of the stereo is okay, it would be better if you could switch the display between a clock and CD track/radio program, so you always know what's playing. Unfortunately, the CD compartment is too small and you can only put the CD sideways, which makes it difficult to see the CD names. I suggest not storing CDs in the door or glove department as they tend to resonate. The space above the cup holder could have been utilized for this purpose. Additionally, an accessory CD holder for the glove department and/or doors could be developed. Lastly, the location of the sunroof switch is a bit weird.
