The fourth-generation Honda Integra (chassis code DC5), produced by Honda, was introduced in Japan on 13 April 2001, and produced from July 2001 until August 2006. It was introduced in North America on 2 July 2001 as the Acura RSX, the name a part of Acura's naming scheme changing the names of its models from recognizable names like "Integra" or "Legend" to alphabetical designations in order for buyers to build more recognition to the marque, and not the individual cars.
Chassis and drivetrain
In concordance with the introduction of the Integra's platform mate, the seventh-generation Civic being introduced in 2000, the Integra joined the Civic in abandoning Honda's traditional double wishbone suspension at both ends and adopted MacPherson struts in the front and trailing arm type suspension in the rear along with the new K-series engine supplanting the B-series.
The K-series engine features intelligent VTEC (or i-VTEC), which electronically adjusts valve lift and duration between separate cam profiles, as well as valve timing with the implementation of a continuously variable sprocket, giving the 2.0 L engine a flatter torque curve relative to previous VTEC implementations which only adjusted valve lift and valve duration.

I PUSHED THE GEAR SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL AND THE REVVES DROPPED IMMEDIATELY AND THE CAR STOPPED THEN. THERE WAS NO REASON FOR THE ENGINE TO SPEED UP, I WAS BRAKING LIGHTLY AS I APPROACHED THE PARKING SPACE AND I CONTINUED TRYING TO BRAKE UNTIL IT FINALLY STOPPED. I WAS AT NO TIME ON THE GAS PEDDLE, THERE WAS NOT CARPET OR OTHER OBJECT TO INTERFERE WITH THE GAS PEDDLE. WHEN I MOVED THE SHIFT LEVER TO NEUTRAL THE ENGINE DROPPED TO A IDLE IMMEDIATELY. The brake booster may be unable to maintain a vacuum when the brake pedal is depressed, decreasing brake assist.
- Consequence: With reduced braking assistance, the vehicle may require additional brake pedal force to prevent a lengthened stopping distance, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the brake booster assembly. If necessary, the dealers will replace the booster assembly free of charge. I was so pleased with the car's handling and performance! It has a 5-speed Tiptronic automatic with a 2.0 L4 Vtec engine, and it handles like a dream. Making lane changes is a breeze. Even though the car is pretty light, it doesn't need a huge displacement engine to go fast. Although, a turbo would be a nice aftermarket upgrade for those who have the type-s model. I'm not usually a fan of 4-cylinder engines, but this one is quite a bit larger than most (most are 1.6 L). It's also quite torquey for one as well (you can get it to squeal on brisk acceleration). The '05/'06 models have upgraded lighting and wheels, which give it a more luxurious look than previous years.

It's been a joy to drive, and I've put 6100 miles on it with no problems. I use it for work, and it's great for maneuvering in tight spots and making quick turns. The acceleration is good for getting onto the highway. The sunroof is positioned quite far forward, so I would recommend getting a visor. It would be nice if the aftermarket armrest between the front seats was more easily available. This car is not ideal for families, but a trunk liner is a must-have. I hope Acura considers making a hybrid model in the future, as it would be fantastic!

At exactly 1500 miles, the syncros in 3rd gear went out. However, the dealership was quick to respond and gave me an RSX loaner immediately. The next day, they aired a replacement transmission and installed it without any issues. I enjoyed driving the non S-Type with automatic for comparison and was back in business within 24 hours. I am very satisfied with their service and have not encountered any other problems (5590 miles now). Despite my hard driving style, I am still getting 28-29mpg. I absolutely love the interior, although the stereo could be better. It lacks highs and lows and I think it must be a BOSE. The volume is also not very impressive.

My mom finally bought me the rsx type s and I absolutely love it! It's so much fun to drive and the shifter is incredibly smooth. I especially love the high revving i-vtec engine. The dealer was really nice and even gave me a spoiler and wheel locks for free! I've driven the WRX before, but the shifter is nowhere near as smooth as the rsx type s. Overall, I think the rsx type s is hella fun to drive!

I previously owned a Mitsubishi, but unfortunately, my current car has been causing me a lot of trouble. It has had several issues such as transmission problems, rattles, squeaks, and noises. Additionally, the stereo was incorrectly wired. Recently, the engine stopped working, and upon researching online, I discovered that many other owners have experienced similar problems. It's been a frustrating experience, and unfortunately, the engine is not covered under warranty, so my parents will have to pay $10,000 to fix it.

I've been driving this car since I was 16, and now at 26, I still can't bring myself to let it go. It has been incredibly reliable, with only the A/C compressor failing twice. However, I have noticed that it has developed a few rattles over time. The tweeters, dash, trunk, doors, glove compartment, and more all seem to rattle. Despite this, I still love my car and can't imagine parting with it. I even replaced the 2002 stock seats with ones from a 2005 model, which are much more comfortable and supportive.

I appreciate the care put into this car, but it has already had a new motor put in and there are a lot of rattles in the dash. However, overall, the car is fun to drive and has great fuel economy. So, all things considered, I would rate it as an alright car.

This car has been a frustrating experience for me. I have had to replace several parts, including the oil pump, vtec pressure switch, and vtech actuator, and now the timing chain is stretched at only 83,000 miles. Unfortunately, finding replacement parts has been a challenge, with many being special order or dealer-only. The cost of replacing the timing chain is also quite high. Despite these difficulties, I am confident in my decision to move on from Acura and explore other options.

The Base RSX does not come with a center console armrest, which can be uncomfortable during long drives, especially during the holidays. Additionally, it lacks traction control and the torque rating is lower than expected, making it feel heavy and slow. The seats are also quite firm, which may not be ideal for drives longer than 90 minutes. Unfortunately, there is a transmission whine that started around 55K and despite dealer servicing, the volume of the sound has not improved. Rust is also showing up in the rear wheel wells at 90K. The radio is below average for a stock system and the steering system has started clunking at around 95K, which can be concerning. The hood latch also requires frequent adjustment, which can be time-consuming. However, despite these issues, the car has an attractive design that many people love.
