Common 1995 Volkswagen Eurovan problems

The Volkswagen Eurovan 1995 is known for several common problems that owners have reported. One of the most prevalent issues is the failure of aging plastic components in the cooling system. These components are susceptible to breaking down unexpectedly, which can lead to cooling system failure and potential engine damage.

Another common problem with the 1995 Eurovan is related to the engine. Some owners have reported experiencing engine surging and pulsating, which can be caused by a loose ground connection between the battery and the chassis. This ground connection serves as the ground path for the ECM (Electronic Control Module), and if it is loose, the ECM may have difficulty finding a ground, leading to engine problems. The solution to this issue is to tighten the fastener connecting the battery and chassis, which can be found below the battery tray.

Additionally, the 1995 Eurovan Camper T4 engine can experience problems when using E10 gasoline, which is a blend of 90% gasoline and 10% ethanol. This ethanol blend can ruin all the seals on the engine and fuel system, clog the fuel filter, and cause symptoms such as hard starting, failure to start, engine sputtering, and poor fuel mileage. To avoid these issues, it is recommended to use pure gasoline or a fuel additive that can help protect the engine and fuel system from ethanol damage.

Lastly, the 1995 Eurovan is known for its handling capabilities in the snow due to its excess weight and weight distribution. However, this excess weight can also lead to other issues, such as increased wear and tear on the brakes and suspension components.

In summary, the Volkswagen Eurovan 1995 has several common problems that owners have reported, including the failure of aging plastic components in the cooling system, engine surging and pulsating caused by a loose ground connection, and issues related to using E10 gasoline. Additionally, the excess weight of the Eurovan can lead to increased wear and tear on the brakes and suspension components.

Negative 1995 Volkswagen Eurovan car reviews

  1. Baylee Kuhlman 2024-11-24

I completely understand Toledo Joe's frustration. I had all the same problems with my CL Eurovan, and even more. Within the first year, the rear A/C unit, battery, horn, and odometer all needed to be replaced. I also had the auto-shift lever get stuck at carparks three times, with the last time resulting in me having to tow it to the dealer. The engine is underpowered and very sluggish, and there is a big thump every time the automatic gear shifts. Additionally, rain seeps through from the window and windshield. While the new Passat looks nice, I don't think I have the courage to try another VW.

  2. Coleman Monahan 2024-07-21

This is my company car. It has a manual transmission, which makes it fun to drive. It fits everywhere and is very reliable, with no problems at all, just regular maintenance service.

  3. Mohammed Jacobson 2024-06-20

I purchased a Eurovan from someone because my wife is a big fan of VWs. Unfortunately, within a year of owning it, we experienced several issues such as transmission problems, stalling, and the A/C stopped working. We also had to replace the catalytic converter and dealt with other minor issues like the door locks not working. The cost of repairs for Volkswagens is quite high. Additionally, the vehicle is underpowered with only about 100 horsepower, which makes it difficult to maintain speed on hills while driving on the highway. After this experience and my wife's negative experience with her Jetta, I have decided not to purchase another VW product again.

Positive 1995 Volkswagen Eurovan car reviews

  1. Foster Christiansen 2024-10-08

I absolutely adore my 17-year-old car, but unfortunately, it has been quite a money pit. Despite my gentle care, it just broke 100,000 miles and is not running as smoothly as it should. I missed out on a $4,500 opportunity, so I am feeling a bit out of luck with my trade-in. I must admit, I am hesitant to purchase another VW due to the high maintenance costs associated with their higher-end models, and the difficulty in finding someone who knows how to work on them. However, if I could replace the engine and eliminate the VW components, I would definitely keep the car.

I love this van! It was such a great deal, especially since I traded in my Honda Gold Wing which was just too big for me to handle.

  3. Eli Kreiger 2024-09-18

I've driven my eurovan across the country and back the first summer I owned it. It was the best vacation I've ever had. This is my favorite VW to date. I drive my VW back and forth to the city every day and it has never let me down. It's a very well-built vehicle.

You've logged an impressive 150,000 miles in your weekender! From Key West to Montana, San Francisco to Maine, it sounds like you've had some amazing adventures. Your traveling machine seems to be a wonderful companion, great for the beach, desert, and mountains (especially with the standard transmission). It's comfortable and economical too! I'm not surprised that people are impressed when you tell them the mileage, most would think it's pretty new. I hope you find a great replacement soon!

  5. Jay Lockman 2024-05-27

I love this car! It has 188k miles on it, but it still runs and looks great. I've been missing my 67 VW Microbus since I sold it in 1978, so I'm planning to add a CD player, some Grateful Dead stickers, and hit the road. The Euro even has heat and great A/C - what a concept! And to Toledo Joe: why not consider buying a Buick instead of whining?
