2018 Toyota Land cruiser problems
The Toyota Land Cruiser (Japanese: トヨタ・ランドクルーザー, Hepburn: Toyota Rando-Kurūzā) (also sometimes spelled as LandCruiser) is a series of four-wheel drive vehicles produced by the Japanese automobile manufacturer Toyota. It is Toyota's longest running series of models. As of 2019, the sales of the Land Cruiser totalled more than 10 million units worldwide.
Production of the first generation of the Land Cruiser began in 1951. The Land Cruiser has been produced in convertible, hardtop, station wagon and cab chassis body styles. The Land Cruiser's reliability and longevity have led to huge popularity, especially in Australia, where it is the best-selling body-on-frame, four-wheel drive vehicle. Toyota also extensively tests the Land Cruiser in the Australian outback – considered to be one of the toughest operating environments in both temperature and terrain. In Japan, the Land Cruiser was once exclusive to Toyota Japanese dealerships called Toyota Store.
Since 1990, the smaller variation of the Land Cruiser has been marketed as the Land Cruiser Prado. Described as a 'light-duty' version of the Land Cruiser by Toyota, it features a different design compared to the full-size model and, up until 2023, it remains the only comfort-oriented Land Cruiser available with a short-wheelbase 3-door version.
As of 2023, the full-size Land Cruiser was available in many markets. Exceptions include the United States (since 2021), Canada (since 1996), Malaysia (which receives the Lexus LX instead), Hong Kong, Macau, South Korea, Brazil, and most of Europe. In Europe, the only countries where the full-size Land Cruiser is officially sold are Gibraltar, Moldova, Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine. The Land Cruiser is hugely popular in the Middle East, Russia, and Australia, and also in Africa where it is used by farmers, the construction industry, non-governmental and humanitarian organizations, the United Nations, national armies (often the pickup version), and irregular armed groups who turn them into "technicals" by mounting machine guns in the rear. In August 2019, cumulative global sales of the Land Cruiser family surpassed 10 million units.

Common 2018 Toyota Land cruiser problems
The Toyota Land Cruiser is a highly regarded full-size luxury SUV known for its off-road capabilities and reliability. However, like any vehicle, it can have certain issues. Based on owner complaints, here are some common problems with the 2018 Toyota Land Cruiser:
- Transmission Shifting to the Wrong Gear: Some Land Cruisers built between 1990-19976 and 1999 may experience issues with their transmission shifting to the wrong gear once they pass the 120,000-mile mark. This can be caused by a poorly adjusted throttle position sensor or a faulty shift solenoid, and replacing the malfunctioning part usually restores the transmission performance.
- Unexplained Engine Failure: Some 2011 Land Cruiser owners have reported unexpected engine failure, where the engine gave out while driving to their destination. This issue can strand passengers in inconvenient locations, and technicians often have difficulty identifying the exact problem that caused the failure.
- EVAP System Fault: The evaporative emissions control (EVAP) system in the Land Cruiser is designed to keep emission levels within safe and legal limits. However, faults in this system can occur, leading to potential issues.
- Power Steering Pump Leaks: Higher mileage Land Cruisers may experience leaks from the power steering pump, which can affect the vehicle's power steering system.
- Failed Electrical Junction Block: A failed electrical junction block can cause problems with power windows and mirrors, affecting the overall functionality and convenience of the vehicle.
These issues are based on owner complaints and may not represent all 2018 Toyota Land Cruiser vehicles. It's essential to thoroughly research any vehicle before purchasing and consider factors such as maintenance history, mileage, and condition.

Hi there! I was browsing the internet for a few years when I stumbled upon an amazing opportunity in December 2015. We traveled out of state on January 1st to pick up our beautiful pearl white and sandstone interior car. We were pleasantly surprised by the economy, averaging 22.5 MPG at 64 mph. During our 4,000 mile road trip this summer, we experienced a smooth and quiet ride, feeling like we were gliding down the highways. We visited some amazing places, including Las Vegas, Idaho, Montana, and North Dakota. Although we experienced a small vibration in the steering wheel, everything else worked great. The climate controls were convenient and more than adequate. We prefer the 2015 look over the new one, and the visibility is excellent. The luggage room is more than adequate, and we are considering removing the third row to provide even more space. The engine and transmission are smooth, and the headlights are good. The height and size of the vehicle give us a feeling of safety.

I hope you're doing well! I noticed that the leg room up front could be a bit more spacious, which seems to be a common issue with Japanese cars, even with the Land Cruiser. While it may not be the most efficient vehicle, it performs very well and is expected to be extremely reliable. Overall, I'm really enjoying the vehicle, although I do wish it had a bit more pep.

For $30k less, you can buy a Sequoia, which is bigger and has the same platform. Comparing the Sequoia to the Land Cruiser is kind of like the Kharman Ghia being the 'poor man's Porsche' (back in the day).

Most people who own or aspire to own a Land Cruiser understand their reliability and timeless appeal. I personally own a 2018 model, which is my sixth since 2000. I also still have a 2015 model, which I primarily use at my country place in upstate NY. Equipped with a set of K02 diggers, it can handle even the heaviest snowfalls. While Land Cruisers may not be considered sexy or cutting-edge, they offer everything you need in a vehicle that can go anywhere and do anything, and will provide many years of dependable service.

I've been driving a Toyota Highlander for years and recently traded in my 2019 model for this awesome SUV. It definitely lives up to its reputation of providing a smooth ride and plenty of power. I could easily drive this car for 8 hours without getting tired. I feel more secure and confident cruising on the highways alongside big trucks. The ride is so smooth, quiet, and luxurious, making a huge difference compared to the midsize SUVs I've driven. I plan to keep this one until it breaks down because, for me, this Land Cruiser is the ultimate family hauler. If it lives up to its promise, I won't need to buy another SUV for the next 29 years or so.

I bought my 2015 Toyota Land Cruiser almost four years ago and unfortunately, I have not been satisfied with my purchase. Although this car has a loyal following, it lacks many features that are standard in newer models, such as LED headlights, automatic high beams, blind-spot assist, lane-keeping assist, radar cruise control that works under 20 MPH, a power liftgate, 360 camera, soft-touch materials on the lower dash/doors, and park assist. These features are expected in a car that retails for 90 thousand dollars. Additionally, I have had some issues with the customer service at my local dealer, which is an hour away. Despite these issues, I am hopeful that Toyota will continue to improve their vehicles and customer service in the future. So to summarize, while this vehicle may have charming looks and off-road prowess, it unfortunately falls short in several areas. The standard equipment is lackluster, the infotainment system is out of date even for its 2015 model year, and it only gets 12-13 MPG. Additionally, service has been done incorrectly and there is no loaner vehicle provided. At a cost of ninety thousand dollars, it may not be the best investment for those looking to spend their money wisely. However, I am excited to replace it with a 2020 GLS.

I did not purchase the car due to poor detailing and interior damages that were not mentioned. However, the car was mechanically sound. I will continue my search for a well-cared-for vehicle. When paying 64k for a 5-year-old car, it is reasonable to expect a well-taken-care-of vehicle.
