As of 2023, the full-size Land Cruiser was available in many markets. Exceptions include the United States (since 2021), Canada (since 1996), Malaysia (which receives the Lexus LX instead), Hong Kong, Macau, South Korea, Brazil, and most of Europe. In Europe, the only countries where the full-size Land Cruiser is officially sold are Gibraltar, Moldova, Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine. The Land Cruiser is hugely popular in the Middle East, Russia, and Australia, and also in Africa where it is used by farmers, the construction industry, non-governmental and humanitarian organizations, the United Nations, national armies (often the pickup version), and irregular armed groups who turn them into "technicals" by mounting machine guns in the rear. THESE VEHICLES ARE OFTEN EQUIPPED WITH SEAT MOUNTED LCD SCREENS FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT OF SECOND ROW PASSENGERS. THESE SCREENS PIVOT OUTWARD TO ALLOW FOR PASSENGERS OF DIFFERENT HEIGHTS. THIS COMBINATION OF FUNCTIONS ALLOWS (ESPECIALLY WHERE THE VEHICLE IS A RENTAL VEHICLE IN THE CASE I EXPERIENCED) FOR THE FOLLOWING ISSUE TO OCCUR: PREVIOUS DRIVER SETS A PRESET SEATING POSITION IN PARTIAL OR FULL RECLINE. NEXT DRIVER INSTALLS A REAR-FACING CHILD SEAT BEHIND DRIVERS'S SEAT. NEXT DRIVER EXITS THE VEHICLE AND TOUCHES PRESET BUTTON ON DRIVER'S DOOR AS THEY EXIT THE VEHICLE. THE SEATBACK WILL THEN BEGIN TO RECLINE AUTOMATICALLY. AN LCD SCREEN THAT IS TILTED UPWARDS WILL IMPACT THE NECK OF AN INFANT IN A REAR-FACING SEAT AND CRUSH THE INFANT'S THORAX. THE RECLINE FEATURE CONTAINS NO SENSOR TO DETECT AN OBSTRUCTION. THE FORCE OF THE RECLINE MOTOR EXCEEDS NORMAL HUMAN STRENGTH. THE INCIDENT I EXPERIENCED WAS WITH AN OLDER (FOUR-YEAR-OLD) CHILD IN A FORWARD-FACING SEAT. AS I EXITED THE VEHICLE I MUST HAVE TOUCHED ONE OF THE SEATING PRESETS. THE SEAT-BACK BEGAN TO RECLINE CRUSHING MY DAUGHTER'S LEGS. VEHICLE HAD TO BE REENTERED AND RESTARTED IN ORDER TO OVERRIDE THE RECLINE.

- Summary: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2008-2019 Toyota Land Cruiser and Lexus LX 570 vehicles. Over time, the seat belt tension sensor wire harness may break and deactivate the front passenger air bag, knee air bag, and passenger seat-mounted side airbag.
- Consequence: In the event of a crash, deactivated air bags can increase the risk of injury .
- Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will modify the front passenger seat belt assembly or replace it with an improved one, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began February 11, 2019. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371 or Lexus customer service at 1-800-255-3987. Toyota's numbers for this recall are Lexus Interim J2L and Remedy JLL, Toyota Interim J15 and Remedy J05.

This Land Cruiser is durable and reliable. It's surprisingly nimble for a large vehicle. I've owned mine for 4 years now and haven't had any problems. I've only been to the dealer for oil changes. The vehicle is as comfortable as any I've ever traveled in and the sound system is perfect. I've owned Mercedes, BMW, and GMC, but the Toyota Land Cruiser is my favorite by far.

For $30k less, you can buy a Sequoia, which is bigger and has the same platform. Comparing the Sequoia to the Land Cruiser is kind of like the Kharman Ghia being the 'poor man's Porsche' (back in the day).

While these cars may be great, let's compare them at 200,000 miles. It's worth noting that the Land Cruiser is not primarily focused on the US market, with only 200-300 units sold per month. Instead, it's built for markets with poor road conditions and a need to occasionally go off-road to reach your destination. Personally, I love my 2015 Land Cruiser. It's understated, reliable, and I fully expect it to last for 200,000 miles. It's easy to drive, solid as a rock, and can handle any weather condition. It's not massive, but it can accomplish just about anything you need. I highly recommend it.

I bought my 2015 Toyota Land Cruiser almost four years ago and unfortunately, I have not been satisfied with my purchase. Although this car has a loyal following, it lacks many features that are standard in newer models, such as LED headlights, automatic high beams, blind-spot assist, lane-keeping assist, radar cruise control that works under 20 MPH, a power liftgate, 360 camera, soft-touch materials on the lower dash/doors, and park assist. These features are expected in a car that retails for 90 thousand dollars. Additionally, I have had some issues with the customer service at my local dealer, which is an hour away. Despite these issues, I am hopeful that Toyota will continue to improve their vehicles and customer service in the future.So to summarize, while this vehicle may have charming looks and off-road prowess, it unfortunately falls short in several areas. The standard equipment is lackluster, the infotainment system is out of date even for its 2015 model year, and it only gets 12-13 MPG. Additionally, service has been done incorrectly and there is no loaner vehicle provided. At a cost of ninety thousand dollars, it may not be the best investment for those looking to spend their money wisely. However, I am excited to replace it with a 2020 GLS.

I did not purchase the car due to poor detailing and interior damages that were not mentioned. However, mechanically the car was fine. I will continue my search for a well-cared-for vehicle. When paying 64k for a 5-year-old car, it is reasonable to expect a well-taken-care-of vehicle.
