2024 Ram 1500 problems
The Ram pickup (marketed as the Dodge Ram until 2010) is a full-size pickup truck manufactured by Stellantis North America (formerly Chrysler Group LLC and FCA US LLC) and marketed from 2010 onwards under the Ram Trucks brand. The current fifth-generation Ram debuted at the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan, in January of that year.
Previously, Ram was part of the Dodge line of light trucks. The name Ram was first used in 1981 model year Dodge Trucks in October 1980, following the retiring and rebadging of the Dodge D series pickup trucks as well as B-series vans, though the company had used a ram's-head hood ornament on some trucks as early as 1933.
Ram trucks have been named Motor Trend magazine's Truck of the Year eight times; the second-generation Ram won the award in 1994, the third-generation Ram heavy-duty won the award in 2003, the fourth-generation Ram Heavy Duty won in 2010 and the fourth-generation Ram 1500 won in 2013 and 2014, and the current fifth-generation Ram pickup became the first truck in history to win the award three times, winning in 2019, 2020, and 2021.

Common 2024 Ram 1500 problems
Common Problems with the Ram 1500 2024:
- Interior Durability: Some owners have reported torn seats at relatively low mileage, especially in models with cloth upholstery. The interiors of rival trucks seem to stand up better to heavy use, so this is something to consider when buying a Ram 1500, especially a used one.
- Coolant Leaks: Ram trucks, including the 1500, have experienced coolant leaks due to faulty radiator caps and issues with the water pump, thermostat gasket, and intake manifold gasket . In some cases, coolant may leak into the engine sump and mix with oil, leading to expensive repairs.
- Water Leaks and Build Quality Issues: Many Ram 1500 owners have reported water leaks, often due to faulty rear window seals . Additionally, the vinyl on the front and rear doors tends to peel off relatively quickly, showcasing build quality issues .
- Transmission and Mild-Hybrid System Clunks: Some drivers have reported an audible clunk from the transmission or mild-hybrid system as they slow to a halt, as well as a shunt at low speeds when releasing the accelerator. This can be a source of annoyance and may affect the overall driving experience.
- Steering Rattle and Squeaks: The Ram 1500 has been known to suffer from intermittent steering rack rattle, sometimes sounding like a marble is loose in the steering column. At low speeds, the steering may also squeak incessantly, which can be distracting and irritating.
- Adaptive Cruise Control Limitations: The adaptive cruise control system on the Ram 1500 may not maintain the set speed while heading downhill, and the LaneSense system, which operates between 60 and 180km/h, may not always be sensitive enough for some drivers' preferences.
It is important to note that these issues do not necessarily affect all Ram 1500 2024 models, and some may experience fewer or no problems at all. However, potential buyers should be aware of these common issues and consider them when making their purchasing decision.
