2007 Nissan Altima hybrid problems

The Nissan Altima is a mid-size car manufactured by Nissan since 1992. It is a continuation of the Nissan Bluebird line, which began in 1955.

The Altima has historically been larger, more powerful, and more luxurious than the Nissan Sentra but less so than the Nissan Maxima. The first through fourth-generation cars were manufactured exclusively in the United States and officially sold in North and South America, along with the Middle East and Australia. For other markets, Nissan sold a related mid-size sedan called the Nissan Teana which was between the Altima and Maxima in terms of size. In 2013, the Teana became a rebadged version of the fifth-generation Altima.

The name "Altima" was originally applied to a top trim line of the Nissan Leopard for the Japanese market in 1986, and then to the Nissan Laurel mid-size car sold in Central America and the Caribbean before 1992. In 1992, Nissan discontinued the Stanza which was a Nissan Bluebird clone, replacing it with the US-built Altima, while remaining a compact car. The first Altima was produced in June 1992, as a 1993 model. All Altima models for the North American market were built in Smyrna, Tennessee, until June 2004, when Nissan's Canton, Mississippi plant also began producing the model to meet high demand.

Positive 2007 Nissan Altima hybrid car reviews

  1. Lionel Fay 2025-05-06

I was thrilled to write a review since I feel like I've stumbled onto a great secret.. however, good work deserves to be recognized. This car drives and feels like a luxury sedan. I purchased the technology package which increased the MSRP but I still feel it's well worth the price. I am surprised I haven't seen more reviews or people talking about this car online. I always wanted a Hybrid, but wasn't a big fan of the Prius' or Civic's design. For me, the Altima had the whole package.

  2. Larue Herzog 2025-04-28

I bought my car used in 2010 and I'm still driving it in 2020, with about 100,000 miles on it. I'm happy to say that it has much better pick up than I would have expected, and to this day it still has good power. I've had no major issues with it, even though I haven't taken it in for regular maintenance. The only issue I've had in the last few years is that an emissions part went out, but I was able to fix it myself for only $90. About 7 years ago, I had to pay to get something fixed at the dealer (I can't remember what it was) for about $300. I'm still a bit concerned that the hybrid battery will go out and be expensive to replace, but so far it's still running strong. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this car and would highly recommend it. Also, it still looks modern and people can't believe it's a 2007!

  3. Adriel Conroy 2025-04-23

Great combination of power, economy, and style for a very reasonable price. Very quiet comfortable ride! Just put almost 1000 miles in less than 2 weeks!

  4. Ulices Reichel 2025-04-18

Great car for the money! I purchased the base model, which only had the option of floor mats, and the only thing I miss from the Passat I traded in are the heated seats. The car drives smoothly, accelerates well, stops are controlled, and handles OK considering the extra weight. I really like the idea of having the tested Toyota hybrid system in the stylish Altima - it's the best of both worlds!

  5. Rickie Rutherford 2025-02-18

I recently picked up my 2007 Altima Hybrid, after waiting almost 2 months for one to be located up here in the northeast. I was thrilled to find one with full options, including a moonroof and nav package with leather. So far, I am extremely happy with my purchase. I am still on my first tank of gas after driving 355 miles, with a mix of both city and rural driving (30% city and 70% rural), and I am averaging an impressive 38 mpg. I have even been able to drive distances of over 2.5 miles in EV mode only, as long as the speed is kept at or below 40 mph. While the interior is nice, it could be set up a bit more sophisticatedly. I did have a couple of workmanship issues, but overall, I am very satisfied with my new car.
