The Nissan Altima is a mid-size car manufactured by Nissan since 1992. It is a continuation of the Nissan Bluebird line, which began in 1955.
The Altima has historically been larger, more powerful, and more luxurious than the Nissan Sentra but less so than the Nissan Maxima. The first through fourth-generation cars were manufactured exclusively in the United States and officially sold in North and South America, along with the Middle East and Australia. For other markets, Nissan sold a related mid-size sedan called the Nissan Teana which was between the Altima and Maxima in terms of size. In 2013, the Teana became a rebadged version of the fifth-generation Altima.
The name "Altima" was originally applied to a top trim line of the Nissan Leopard for the Japanese market in 1986, and then to the Nissan Laurel mid-size car sold in Central America and the Caribbean before 1992. In 1992, Nissan discontinued the Stanza which was a Nissan Bluebird clone, replacing it with the US-built Altima, while remaining a compact car. The first Altima was produced in June 1992, as a 1993 model. All Altima models for the North American market were built in Smyrna, Tennessee, until June 2004, when Nissan's Canton, Mississippi plant also began producing the model to meet high demand.

It’s affecting visibility to the point where I found myself trying to lift up to look overtop of the blinding glare on my windshield due to my melting dashboard and got into an minor accident Like was reflecting off the dashboard onto the windshield obstructing my view and resulted in me rear bumping into the rear of another car that was towing a very small trailer that I couldn’t see through the reflection on the windshield. Since then im noticing almost every dashboard on a Nissan Altima look the same if not worse and absolutely has to and needs to be acknowledged by Nissan for Nissan Altimas everywhere, not just in Florida. A recall NEEDS to be issued to resolve this very serious safety hazard. I’m lucky no one was injured. PLEASE address this issue so people can get the dashboard repaired without costing them even more money than they already paid for your defective product.

- Summary: Yes, while driving down Atlanta Highway I was going around 55 mph then all of a sudden saw smoke was coming from the front passenger side of the vehicle. Great! I'm so glad to hear that you got a fully loaded Altima with an MSRP of $34,910 for only $31,100. That's an amazing deal! With $500 cash back, 0.9% financing, and a $2350 tax credit, you really can't beat the value. While the Ford Fusion may have better gas mileage, the Altima's value is unbeatable. Although the Sync system in the Ford is pretty cool, it's just not worth the extra money when you could be saving. I can tell you from personal experience that you won't regret choosing the Altima. It's the best value for your money and so much fun to drive. Plus, Nissan offers an 8-year/150,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty for only $2,100, which is an excellent deal. Definitely something to consider!

It's great to hear that you've had no major problems with Blondie in the two years since you purchased it! Your mixed freeway/city driving sounds like a lot of fun. I'm glad to hear that the A/C works great in Arizona and that you're getting 31 mpg. Even in the milder winters, 34 mpg is still impressive. It's wonderful that you still love the look, acceleration, and roomy interior of your car. I can understand that the door locking system and less tight turning ability may take some getting used to. It's completely normal to be nervous about the future cost to replace the cell, but I'm sure you'll be able to handle it. Although the trunk may be small, it's great that it's not a problem for you since you don't have kids and don't travel much. Overall, it sounds like you're doing great with Blondie!

I was thrilled to write a review since I feel like I've stumbled onto a great secret.. however, good work deserves to be recognized. This car drives and feels like a luxury sedan. I purchased the technology package which increased the MSRP but I still feel it's well worth the price. I am surprised I haven't seen more reviews or people talking about this car online. I always wanted a Hybrid, but wasn't a big fan of the Prius' or Civic's design. For me, the Altima had the whole package.

I've been driving my NAH for 3 months now, and I absolutely love it! Before this, I had an Acura TSX, and while the Altima isn't quite as thrilling to drive, it still has plenty of pep and great driving dynamics. I'm really pleased with the impressive 34-35 MPG I'm getting, even though I'm driving like a grandma to achieve those numbers. It's fully loaded, except for the navi, with heated leather seats, a Bose stereo, and Bluetooth. This car is much more attractive than a Prius and more enjoyable to drive than the Camry Hybrid. The interior layout is excellent, with controls that are easy to read and reach, and everything feels thoughtfully designed. The slight rumble that you feel/hear when the gasoline engine kicks in doesn't bother me at all (although some folks seem to mind). Overall, it's a fantastic car!

I bought my hybrid in June of 2009 and as you can see by my mileage, I practically live in it. It's a die-hard car. I have put on two sets of tires, but only one set of brakes, and as of six weeks ago, I'm nowhere near having to replace the brakes. I drive in the mountains and on highways, so this car has seen just about everything. The only negative is the gas mileage. The difference between a regular Altima and what I had to pay for the hybrid will never be realized. In addition, oil changes and maintenance are a lot more expensive. Would I buy another hybrid? Probably not. Would I buy another Altima? Yes.

If you own a Nissan Altima Hybrid, you may be facing an issue with carbon buildup that could potentially lead to costly repairs. It is important to be aware that replacing the cylinder head in your car could cost at least $4,500. Unfortunately, this issue is caused by a design/manufacturing defect that Nissan has been aware of for years, and it is affecting at least 1 in 4 Nissan Altima Hybrids. Although my Altima is within the five-year warranty period, it has 64,000 miles on it and falls just outside of the warranty. Despite this, I am disappointed that Nissan has not honored the warranty or issued a recall. It is important to hold companies accountable for their products, but I encourage everyone to make their own informed decisions. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

I bought this car because I was worried about the high gas prices of $4.50/gal and assumed they would only increase. The tax credit was a huge incentive for me. I chose this car because it was the sportiest option among the hybrid vehicles available in the market. Although it has some quirks, it can set you back in the seat. The mpg is disappointing, but not terrible, with the best I can do being in the low 30's. The regenerative braking system feels a bit grabby when rolling to a slow stop. There is something wrong with the driver's seat as it pops when your weight shifts in turns. The dealership worked on it and it's better, but not completely gone. However, I mostly use it for long distance commuting since I don't drive far enough to justify the price.

Purchased with only 80k miles, the car unfortunately experienced a complete failure after 8 months of use. Despite having the ECU replaced by the dealership, the engine began to knock loudly. As a result, the car is no longer operational.
