Nissan Altima hybrid problems

The Nissan Altima is a mid-size car manufactured by Nissan since 1992. It is a continuation of the Nissan Bluebird line, which began in 1955.
The Altima has historically been larger, more powerful, and more luxurious than the Nissan Sentra but less so than the Nissan Maxima. The first through fourth-generation cars were manufactured exclusively in the United States and officially sold in North and South America, along with the Middle East and Australia. For other markets, Nissan sold a related mid-size sedan called the Nissan Teana which was between the Altima and Maxima in terms of size. In 2013, the Teana became a rebadged version of the fifth-generation Altima.
The name "Altima" was originally applied to a top trim line of the Nissan Leopard for the Japanese market in 1986, and then to the Nissan Laurel mid-size car sold in Central America and the Caribbean before 1992. In 1992, Nissan discontinued the Stanza which was a Nissan Bluebird clone, replacing it with the US-built Altima, while remaining a compact car. The first Altima was produced in June 1992, as a 1993 model. All Altima models for the North American market were built in Smyrna, Tennessee, until June 2004, when Nissan's Canton, Mississippi plant also began producing the model to meet high demand.

It’s affecting visibility to the point where I found myself trying to lift up to look overtop of the blinding glare on my windshield due to my melting dashboard and got into an minor accident Like was reflecting off the dashboard onto the windshield obstructing my view and resulted in me rear bumping into the rear of another car that was towing a very small trailer that I couldn’t see through the reflection on the windshield. Since then im noticing almost every dashboard on a Nissan Altima look the same if not worse and absolutely has to and needs to be acknowledged by Nissan for Nissan Altimas everywhere, not just in Florida. A recall NEEDS to be issued to resolve this very serious safety hazard. I’m lucky no one was injured. PLEASE address this issue so people can get the dashboard repaired without costing them even more money than they already paid for your defective product.

I bought a NAH back in late 2009, and it has just clocked 36,000 miles. It has been an amazing car! Although the MPG is not quite as high as my previous Honda Civic, the joy factor with this car is much higher. It is very comfortable, has solid handling, is very peppy, and performs better in snow. During the NH summer, I average about 35 MPG, and in winter, I average about 31 MPG. However, the EVT takes quite a while to activate in winter due to the battery temperature sensor. It is important to ensure that there is a Nissan Hybrid authorized repair technician in your area, as normal technicians are not allowed to work on NAHs.

This is an early review, and I may amend it later if anything changes. Like the previous reviewer, I was considering the Milan/Fusion hybrids (other models are not practical for New England driving, in my opinion). I was most tempted by the superior gas mileage (and in my state, sales tax is waived for vehicles getting over 40mpg). This is not something to off-handedly dismiss. However, the pickup and styling of this car just smokes the Fusion/Milan. Although I'm doing this mostly for environmental concerns, I still care about aesthetics. My model is fully loaded.

I hope you're doing well! I wanted to share my experience with my 2009 NAH since June 2009. I've noticed that the on-board computer for mileage runs high, as many have noted. However, after recording miles and gallons at each fill-up, I just completed tallying my mileage and found that after 24,000 miles, I have averaged 34.74 mpg, through all seasons, right in line with EPA estimates. With gas here at $4.20/gallon, I'm feeling fine. Overall, it runs like any gas-powered car. The shift from gas to electric is very mild and not an issue. The rest of the car is quite fine: good comfort, good power, good feeling of safety. Yes, the trunk is a bit small but that's the price for a hybrid. And I LOVE the fact that it goes into electric at the VERY long stoplights where I live.

Just bought this car. The buying experience was very good. I'm loving driving this car and getting great gas mileage is even better. The Bose sound system is great and the Bluetooth phone feature works fine.

I've been researching different vehicles for some time now, with a particular interest in hybrid technology. I enjoy driving, but I also want to save gas. I don't necessarily mind spending more money on a car if it means I can save on gas. After all, I'd rather invest in a car than contribute to the myriad of problems we have in the world today by giving money to OPEC. The test drive was great, and the first few days of ownership were great too! Unfortunately, the service engine light is now on, which is not so great. I've been told that I may have to take a day off and possibly leave the car overnight. This is really not ideal. I hope Nissan can resolve this issue soon, as I was hoping for a reliable car.

If you own a Nissan Altima Hybrid, you may be facing an issue with carbon buildup that could potentially lead to costly repairs. It is important to be aware that replacing the cylinder head in your car could cost at least $4,500. Unfortunately, this issue is caused by a design/manufacturing defect that Nissan has been aware of for years, and it is affecting at least 1 in 4 Nissan Altima Hybrids. Although my Altima is within the five-year warranty period, it has 64,000 miles on it and falls just outside of the warranty. Despite this, I am disappointed that Nissan has not honored the warranty or issued a recall. It is important to hold companies accountable for their products, but I encourage everyone to make their own informed decisions. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to let you know that at 43000 miles, the dealership recommended a new cylinder head for your car. The cost for this would be $3600. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns!

I bought this car because I was worried about the high gas prices of $4.50/gal and assumed they would only increase. The tax credit was a huge incentive for me. I chose this car because it was the sportiest option among the hybrid vehicles available in the market. Although it has some quirks, it can set you back in the seat. The mpg is disappointing, but not terrible, with the best I can do being in the low 30's. The regenerative braking system feels a bit grabby when rolling to a slow stop. There is something wrong with the driver's seat as it pops when your weight shifts in turns. The dealership worked on it and it's better, but not completely gone. However, I mostly use it for long distance commuting since I don't drive far enough to justify the price.
