The Mitsubishi Lancer is an automobile produced by the Japanese manufacturer Mitsubishi Motors since 1973.

The Lancer has been marketed as the Colt Lancer, Dodge Colt, Plymouth Colt, Chrysler Valiant Lancer, Chrysler Lancer, Eagle Summit, Hindustan Lancer, Soueast Lioncel, and Mitsubishi Mirage in various countries at different times, and has been sold as the Mitsubishi Galant Fortis in Japan since 2007. It has also been sold as Mitsubishi Lancer Fortis in Taiwan with a different facelift than the Galant Fortis. In Japan, it was sold at a specific retail chain called Car Plaza.

Between its introduction in 1973 and 2008, over six million units were sold. There have been ten generations of Lancers.

Mitsubishi ended production of the Lancer in August 2017 worldwide, with the exception of Taiwan and China. An extensive facelift was given to the car by Pininfarina's Chinese offices.

Common 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer sportback problems

Based on the information provided in the search results, here is a list of common problems with the Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback 2010 based on complaints from owners:

  • AWC Hydraulic Unit Corrosion: Some Lancer models experienced failures in the AWC hydraulic unit due to corrosion, leading to extended warranties for affected vehicles. This issue could impact the vehicle's performance and safety, requiring attention to prevent further damage.
  • Electrical System Concerns: Complaints included issues with the power window on the driver's door, A/C compressor problems, piston scuff, daytime running light malfunctions, and intake and exhaust system issues. These electrical system issues could affect various components of the vehicle, impacting its functionality and safety.
  • Software Updates: Owners reported receiving alerts regarding software updates for the Mitsubishi Multi Communications System. This update did not apply to the Multi Entertainment System for 2014 and later models. Keeping the software up to date is crucial for optimal system performance and functionality.
  • Automatic Gearbox Problems: The automatic gearboxes in the Lancer were known to have issues with changing gears, leading to hesitant gear changes or slipping. This problem required the replacement of the gearbox, as these units are sealed and need to be entirely replaced when faulty.
  • Drive Belt Issues: A recall was issued for drive belt separation, where the belt could wear at an angle and detach from the pulleys, causing the engine to stall and potentially leading to accidents. Replacing the drive belt was necessary to address this safety concern.
  • Blower Motor Failure: Another common problem was the failure of the blower motor, affecting the windshield defroster's function and reducing visibility. This issue could compromise driving safety and required the replacement of the blower motor to restore proper operation.

These common problems with the Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback 2010 highlight various mechanical, electrical, and safety issues that owners have encountered. Addressing these concerns promptly through proper maintenance and necessary repairs is essential to ensure the vehicle's reliability and safety on the road.

A great, reliable car for the cost. Comfort lets it down - seats are cheap and cabin noise is an issue on the freeway (have to turn up radio!).

  • Manufacturer: Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc.
  • Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
  • Summary: Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (Mitsubishi) is recalling certain model year 2009-2010 Mitsubishi Lancer vehicles manufactured January 12, 2009, to July 6, 2010, 2009-2010 Outlander vehicles manufactured January 12, 2009, to August 27, 2010, 2010 Lancer Sportback vehicles manufactured June 17, 2009, to June 8, 2010, and 2010 Lancer Evolution vehicles manufactured July 14, 2009, to August 4, 2010. The affected vehicles have an electronic control unit (ECU) that controls the head lights, tail lights, and windshield wipers. Negative 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer sportback car reviews

  1. Conrad Bogan 2024-08-06

The ride quality could be improved as it feels uncomfortable on bumpy roads and the road noise is noticeable. Additionally, the rear view is obstructed by the low hatchback and headrests, which can make parking and backing up difficult. The stability control could also be improved. However, the car has good fuel economy and the dashboard, while made of plastic, is functional. Overall, there is room for improvement but the car has some positive features as well.

  2. Branson Moore 2024-06-07

The car looks great, but it bounces all over the road and it's difficult to keep it going straight. I'm taking it to the dealer to see if they can help.

Positive 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer sportback car reviews

  1. Alford Johns 2024-09-12

I think you've got a great car! It has a really good-looking design. While it may not be quite up to par with the Mazda3, it's still an excellent choice. The fuel mileage isn't the best, but then again, it's a sports car. I've been told by passengers that the room in the back seat is surprisingly spacious, and the stereo system is great. It feels amazing to drive!

  2. Clifton Walker 2024-09-08

I was looking at a compact car and found the Lancer. It's great! The ride is good and the steering feel is great as well. It has everything I want, from leather to heated seats. Honestly, I can say that Mitsubishi has very good reliability. Please don't hesitate to buy this. It's a true underdog in its class.

  3. Tyrel Lesch 2024-08-08

Hi there! I recently got my 2010 Lancer GTS Sportback and unfortunately ran into some trouble. After hearing a grinding noise and seeing the low oil pressure light come on, I had to have it towed to the dealer. They informed me that the oil pump had gone out, the short engine block needed to be replaced, and there was an overlapping valve. It's definitely not what I was expecting from a brand new car with only 2 miles on it, but I know Mitsubishi cars are reliable and I just happened to get the rare 1 in 1000. The dealer has had my car for 2 weeks now, but I'm looking forward to getting it back soon. Overall, it's a great car and I can't wait to hit the road again!

  4. Freeman Klocko 2024-06-09

I was interested in the '11 model, but unfortunately, the selection of colors and models was quite limited. The salesperson mentioned that the earthquake had affected the inventory, which I can understand. However, it seems that they still have a lot of '10 models in stock. I was able to purchase the car for 19K (excluding tax and license) plus tint and 4 years of free oil changes, which was a great deal considering the MSRP was 24k. The car handles really well, and I love the sporty yet classy look. The storage space is ample, although I'm not a fan of the leather seats. The paddle shifters are a fun addition, but I do wish the GTS was more comparable to the SI and SPEC-V. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with what I got for the price.

  5. Preston Pollich 2024-05-16

Looking to replace my 2004 Mazda RX8 was no small task, especially considering I didn't want a dedicated sports car. After trying out a lot of cars, I kept coming back to this one. It may not be the fastest, but the AWD, dual clutch transmission, and overall look really sold me. It's fun to drive, handles well, and doesn't beat you up with an overly stiff ride like most sporty cars. I do regret not opting for the Recaro package, as I have a bad back and the standard seats cause discomfort on long drives (seat upgrade is in the works). I do wish it had a telescoping wheel, as well as a louder turn signal and horn. Overall, it's a great car for the money and I love it!
