Common 2020 Lexus Rx450h problems
The Lexus RX 450h, a hybrid luxury crossover SUV, has been praised for its low emissions and excellent fuel economy. However, it is not without its common problems. Here are some of the issues reported by owners of the 2020 Lexus RX 450h:
- Shock Absorber Failure: The Lexus RX 450h is a heavy car, which puts a lot of pressure on the suspension. This can lead to shock absorber failure. The shock absorbers may wear out quickly, especially if the vehicle is driven roughly or frequently on uneven roads.
- Flat Battery: Some drivers report that the battery of their RX 450h goes flat after two to three weeks of not being used. This is especially inconvenient in a hybrid car because the battery can’t be jump-started. Instead, it has to be trickle charged, or the circuits in the hybrid system will be damaged. This usually means you have to call out a breakdown service.
- Suspension Problems: The RX 450h models are fairly heavy and often develop suspension problems. Some owners report leaks in the system, while others report the compressor wears out quickly and has to be replaced.
- Alloy Wheel Corrosion: The alloy wheels on the RX450h are known for suffering from premature corrosion and excessive wear of the surfaces of the wheel. As you inspect each wheel, the ones with this problem will need to be refurbished, in order to get them looking good again. You will also need to remove any corrosion.
- MP3/Audio Player Problem: The audio unit mounting may become loose, causing the MP3/Audio player to cut out when driving over speed bumps or roughly surfaced roads. The mounting will need to be either fixed or replaced, and the audio unit re-fitted.
- Rear Window Wiper Problem: Some owners report a rattling sound coming from the rear of the vehicle, caused by a problem with the wiper mechanism. The rattling sound happens when the faulty wiper knocks against the rear spoiler. You will need to replace the wiper mechanism, in order to resolve the issue.
In conclusion, while the Lexus RX 450h offers many benefits, it is not without its common problems. These issues, ranging from shock absorber failure to flat batteries and suspension problems, can affect the vehicle's performance and reliability. Therefore, it is essential to be aware of these problems and address them promptly to ensure the vehicle's longevity and safety.

I've been driving my RX450h F Sport for almost three years now and I have to say, I'm really happy with it. The ride is smooth and comfortable, and the Adaptive Variable Suspension makes handling the road a breeze. Even though it's a heavy vehicle, it doesn't feel that way when you're driving it. The F Sport Engine Sound enhancer can be a bit loud, but it's not a big deal. Plus, when the engine cuts off, it's so quiet that you might forget the car is even running! Lexus only provides one year of complimentary maintenance, so it's worth learning how to change your own oil and filters to save some money. I do it myself and it's really not that hard. I also swap my all-season and winter tires every year, which saves me even more money. So far, I haven't had any issues with my car and there have been no recalls, just a couple of minor service campaigns. I'm retired, so I don't drive as much as I used to, but I still opted for GEICO's 7-year/100,000-mile mechanical breakdown insurance just in case. I value reliability over flashy features, and this car definitely delivers. If you're looking for a good deal, you might want to consider a low-mileage 2017 or 2018 model driven by a senior citizen in the suburbs. The gas mileage is pretty good too, at 27 mpg combined. Just make sure to keep up with regular maintenance and you'll be happy with this car for years to come. I always take my car to a Lexus dealer for service, but it's important to remember that not all mechanics are trustworthy. Do your research and don't be afraid to ask questions before agreeing to any repairs.Stop right there! Let's get to know your RX. Take some time to learn how it drives, check for any unusual odors, and ask a mechanic you trust about any possible abnormalities regarding your vehicle. Remember, this is a Luxury SUV, and repairing problems that you simply overlooked or put off WILL cost you a pretty penny when you walk out of the Service Center. Toyotas/Lexus vehicles are known for their reliability. I've owned an invincible Camry, an unbeatable Avalon Limited, and now an incomparable RX450h F Sport. I will never look at another woman, sorry...vehicle in this lifetime.

I recently upgraded from a 2017 RX 350 to the 2020 RX 450h Performance F Sport and I am absolutely loving it! The car has a great feel and sound, especially when I put it in Sport mode. However, I mostly keep it in Eco Mode to improve mileage. I have noticed that the gas pedal is softer in Sport mode, while in Eco mode it requires a bit more pressure, which I assume is to save fuel. The interior of the car is very similar to my 2017 model, except for the speedometer area. The only downside is that there is no space under the back seats to store my car wash rags or umbrella due to the battery being located there, but it's not a big issue. Despite having a smaller fuel tank than the RX 350, I am able to go around 100 miles more between fill-ups with the RX 450h. The only drawback is that the RX 450h requires 93 octane fuel, which is slightly more expensive than the 87 octane fuel required for the RX 350. However, I am currently getting exactly what the estimated mileage on the sticker says, which is great!

I did a very intensive test drive comparing the non-f sport and f sport. If possible, please consider getting the f sport. The f sport suspension transformed my grandma's 450h into a car-like SUV. The eco and normal modes completely isolate you from the poor road conditions in North California. On the other hand, the sport+ mode controls body roll really well, and the performance is very similar to my 2016 IS f sport. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my purchase!

You'll love the comfortable and quiet ride of this luxurious car. While the controls can be a bit annoying, the voice activation feature is a big help. If you're looking for even quieter tires, consider replacing the originals with Michelin. It's worth noting that the mileage may be lower in the winter or cold weather, but overall this is a great car to drive.

I shopped for months for a larger family SUV and finally found the perfect one in the RX 450h. It offers unparalleled comfort, space, and fuel economy that I couldn't find in any other car in the market. The driving experience is solid and substantial, with effortless steering and acceleration, and great visibility thanks to the A pillar and side mirror design. The hybrid powertrain works seamlessly and the car is whisper quiet at any speed. I highly recommend upgrading to the 12.3 inch infotainment system, which has a better input method with the joystick and a high-definition screen. On our first tank, we averaged 32 MPG with the AC on all the time, and speaking of which, it is the best AC system I have experienced in any car. It works in conjunction with the heated/ventilated seats and cools the cabin incredibly fast and super quietly. Overall, I have no negatives or complaints so far, and I highly recommend this excellent luxury mid-size SUV!

Overall, this car has many positive features. However, we would not purchase it again due to two major issues caused by the extremely raked front windshield. Firstly, we recommend taking a test ride in the morning or evening when the sun is low. On even moderately warm days, the large windshield creates a greenhouse effect, making it feel like you're sitting in a glass hothouse with a small AC unit blowing cold air on you. While the air feels good, the sun is blasting your entire torso. Secondly, the wide slanted pillars block pedestrians and side traffic to a dangerous extent. Another issue is the engine. It's disappointing that a hybrid car requires premium gas, which goes against the idea of lowering gas prices. While some reviews claim that premium only costs 10c more, in California, it's 40c more. Despite these issues, the car has many positive attributes such as great seats, sound system, and AWD. The tech interface is also elegant and well-designed, which is a plus.

This car performs similarly to a Civic despite having only 4 cylinders. Although I experienced some issues with the emission filter during the first weekend, the service team attributed it to an overfilled gas tank, which I find hard to believe. Additionally, the car keeps beeping and asking me to clean the sensors in the rain, even though the car is clean. The navigation system and menus could use some improvement, and there has already been a software recall. However, I am hopeful that these issues will be resolved in the future.

I've had this car for over two years now and leased it. Despite some issues with quality, recalls, and cargo space, I'm glad I leased it because I won't be purchasing this SUV after the lease is up. This is my first Lexus and I was expecting better quality, but unfortunately, I've had some problems. Some of the issues I've faced include crappy tires that only lasted 20K, sunroof issues, and a broken driver side door latch. However, the car does have some good features such as being very quiet, having lots of tech, and a good sound system. The safety features are also great and the display and back up camera are very helpful. Although the car has some cons, it is still very comfortable to drive. I'm concerned about the reliability of this vehicle, so I'll be looking for a replacement come summer.
