- Summary: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2023 Corolla, Corolla Cross, Corolla Cross Hybrid, Highlander, Highlander Hybrid, Tacoma, 2023 Lexus RX350, RX350 Hybrid, RX500 Hybrid, 2023-2024 Lexus NX250, NX350, and NX350 Hybrid vehicles. An electrical connection inside the steering column's spiral cable assembly may be insufficiently welded, causing the connection to separate and deactivate the driver's air bag. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."
- Consequence: A deactivated driver's air bag that does not deploy as intended increases the risk of injury during a crash.
- Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the spiral cable assembly, if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 8, 2023. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's number for this recall is 23TA08. Lexus' number for this recall is 23LA02.

I recently upgraded my vehicle from a 2020 RX350 Luxury model to the 2023 RX350 Luxury model and I must say, it's been a fantastic experience. Although the engine sound of the 4 cyl is different from the pleasing V6 of my old car, the drivability is just as good. The handling has improved significantly and the tech and comfort features are also greatly enhanced. Overall, I am very happy with my upgrade!

My wife and I recently purchased a vehicle from the dealer. They set everything up for us, but unfortunately, they did it in my name. After some initial issues, we managed to get everything working. Once we got the vehicle home, we decided to start from scratch and set up my wife's profile as the primary one since she would be the primary driver. We wanted to set up two profiles, one for her and one for me, so we could save our individual settings. We also wanted to disable some features that we didn't find useful, such as the 'Lexus puddle lamp' which displays the word 'Lexus' on the ground when you open the doors. As a side note, I work as a systems engineer for an MSP and have a good understanding of IT. We both use Android phones as we find them more customizable than Apple's IOS. Here's what happened: I downloaded the Lexus App on my wife's phone, reset the infotainment console, and set up the vehicle as hers. I paired her phone via Bluetooth and got the Android App working as expected. I set up her favorite music and everything worked perfectly. However, I did notice that the display was a little slow to respond. One thing I found strange was that you cannot make vehicle adjustments, such as seat position or lighting, unless the engine is on. Also, some personal settings that my 2018 Corolla SE has, such as switching off the headlights when you open the door or changing the color of the dashboard display, are not available. In my opinion, the customization options are limited. I switched off the vehicle and took a break. When I returned five minutes later, I started up the SUV to set up my profile.The vehicle display started up, but unfortunately, it turned into a white screen. I powered it off, waited for a bit, and powered it on again, which thankfully resolved the issue. However, I was disappointed to find out that all the settings had reset, and the profile I had spent half an hour building had disappeared, and the profile had become 'Guest'. After reviewing the menus, I found the profile again and attempted to change to it. Unfortunately, the infotainment system asked me to pair again with the Lexus app and set up a PIN, which I did. When I tried to change the profile, it said it didn't have an internet connection and refused to change from 'Guest'. I decided to do a factory reset and start from scratch, but when I went to the menu to do a factory reset and clicked on it, nothing happened. I couldn't even do a factory reset! However, the Bluetooth was still paired to my wife's phone, and Android Auto worked (mostly) as designed. After realizing that the Lexus system is not very intuitive, we decided to forget the profiles, which admittedly was not very useful without adequate vehicle customization, and use Android Auto only. Despite the setbacks, my wife still likes the look of the Lexus, so we'll keep it, but we'll consider the RAV4 next time, which I'm told works far better.

I hope that Lexus can work with you to resolve these issues as soon as possible. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.My Grand Cherokee didn't give me any of these problems, especially not this soon. Although I have had some issues with this vehicle, it has been a bit of a headache and extremely stressful. This is especially considering my life is already stressful. I have tried to deal with this and be nice, but I don't think these people understand the pain and suffering they are causing. I have requested that they repurchase the vehicle under the Lemon Law, but it is taking too long and causing too much emotional and mental anguish. I may have to get an attorney involved. I believe the people who pretend to like or love this particular vehicle are being paid to lie, because there is no way they are not having the same issues. I hope this can be resolved soon.

The engine may be a bit too loud for some, sounding like a tractor going up a slight incline. It's important to test drive before purchasing to ensure it meets your needs. This is a fantastic choice for a premium crossover that most people will love. It delivers everything you need without drawing too much attention to itself. However, for me, it's a bit too plain compared to the previous generation, which I owned as a 2021 model. The new redesigned model has improved on the old model's core qualities, such as comfort, ease of driving, calmness, and relaxation. They have either thrown out or changed everything else. It lacks the smooth plush ride to a small extent in favor of more firm and dynamic handling. It's not as articulate over rough roads and bumps for a more aggressive drive. The 4cyl engine is louder and rather ordinary sounding, although it's quieter to an extent. The materials inside and out are overall cheaper, although still with excellent fit and finish. Given all these changes, I don't think it's worth paying $60k (what I paid) for a car like this. You can do much better with other cars in its class and/or price range. My most favorite things are probably some of the improved tech and features, and the styling inside and out. I love the ambient lighting, soft materials, modern design, and exquisite exterior design. It looks both classy and modern. I get head turns and compliments quite a lot. The technology is very seamless and helpful once you tailor everything in and learn how it all works. It's a great car, if a bit overpriced, and lacks some luxury characteristics that traditional luxury car buyers may still want. I wouldn't say this is a true luxury car anymore, but rather just a premium and ordinary appliance.
