SEATS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-12-27
- Fire: 1
- VIN: JTJHA31U340
- Components: SEATS
- Summary: I was driving with the driver’s seat heater turned on. While I were traveling, I noticed that the seat heater was very hot, so I turned it off. I arrived at my destination and parked the vehicle for about two hours. I did not turn the seat heater back on when you returned to the vehicle. I was removing snow from the vehicle with the driver’s door open and some of the snow landed on the driver’s seat. When I brushed the snow off the seat, I noticed a burn mark in the seat cushion. I called Lexus USA to report this 2 days later and showed my local dealer (Lexus of Portland) and they had never seen this before. Here is the response from Lexus today: "In response to your concerns, a vehicle inspection was conducted by a Lexus Field Technical Specialist (FTS) on January 19, 2022 at Bud Clary Toyota of Yakima. A visual inspection confirmed there was a small 6mm x 7mm burn hole in the driver’s seat leather cover on the bottom cushion. The hole was in the outer bolster portion of the bottom cushion. Resistance was checked through the seat warmer grid. The seat back was recorded at .7 ohms and the seat bottom had an open circuit. The seat cover was removed to examine the seat heater grid. Two wires were found near each other at the burn area. One wire was broken at the location. Our FTS disconnected the seat heater switch after the inspection was completed." They left me with now 2 non functioning seat heaters by disconnecting it during a cold winter. They did not offer any sort of assistance or recommendations for next steps, I feel like they hung me out to dry.

Lexus Rx330 2004 recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 5 recalls for different components of the Lexus Rx330 2004.
- Manufacturer: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing
- Components: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
- Summary: TOYOTA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2004 AVALON VEHICLES; 2004 AND 2005 CAMRY, CAMRY SOLARA, HIGHLANDER, AND SIENNA VEHICLES, 2006 HIGHLANDER HYBRID; 2004 AND 2005 LEXUS ES330 AND RX330; AND 2006 LEXUS RX400H VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM JUNE 1, 2004 THROUGH MARCH 31, 2005, EQUIPPED WITH THE 1MZ-FE OR 3MZ-FE ENGINE. THE AMOUNT OF ADHESIVE AGENT APPLIED BETWEEN THE OUTER RING AND THE TORSIONAL RUBBER DAMPER (INNER RING) IN THE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY MAY BE INADEQUATE. IF THE ADHESIVE IS INSUFFICIENT, THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT THE OUTER RING MAY BECOME MISALIGNED AND IT MAY NOT PROPERLY ROTATE WITH THE INNER RING, CAUSING NOISE AND/OR ILLUMINATION OF THE BATTERY DISCHARGE INDICATOR LIGHT.
- Consequence: IN SOME CASES, THE BELT FOR THE POWER STEERING PUMP MAY BECOME DETACHED FROM THE PULLEY WHICH COULD RESULT IN A LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND A SUDDEN INCREASE IN STEERING EFFORT, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
- Remedy: TOYOTA WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEALERS WILL CHECK THE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY TO IDENTIFY WHETHER IT WAS PRODUCED BY THE U.S. SUPPLIER. IF SO, THE DEALER WILL REPLACE THE PULLEY WITH A NEW ONE AT NO CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING EARLY JANUARY 2012. OWNERS MAY CONTACT TOYOTA AT 1-800-331-4331.
- Manufacturer: TOYOTA MOTOR NORTH AMERICA, INC.
- Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:ACCELERATOR PEDAL
- Summary: TOYOTA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2004-2006 HIGHLANDER, HIGHLANDER HYBRID, AND MODEL YEAR 2004-2007 LEXUS RX330, RX350, AND RX400H VEHICLES. IF THE FORWARD RETENTION CLIP USED TO SECURE THE FLOOR CARPET COVER, WHICH IS LOCATED IN FRONT OF THE CENTER CONSOLE, IS NOT INSTALLED PROPERLY THE COVER MAY LEAN TOWARD THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND INTERFERE WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ARM.
- Consequence: IF THIS OCCURS, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL MAY TEMPORARILY BECOME STUCK IN A PARTIALLY DEPRESSED POSITION RATHER THAN RETURN TO THE IDLE POSITION. A STUCK ACCELERATOR PEDAL MAY RESULT IN UNINTENDED AND SUSTAINED VEHICLE SPEEDS AND MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO STOP, INCREASING THE RISK OF A VEHICLE CRASH.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FLOOR CARPET COVER WITH A NEWLY DESIGNED ONE FREE OR CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING MARCH 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT TOYOTA AT 1-800-331-4331.
- Manufacturer: TOYOTA MOTOR NORTH AMERICA, INC.
- Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:ACCELERATOR PEDAL
- Summary: ON CERTAIN SPORT UTILITY AND HYBRID VEHICLES, THE TWO RETAINING CLIPS FOR THE DRIVER'S SIDE FORWARD CENTER CONSOLE CAN BECOME LOOSE. IF BOTH CLIPS SEPARATE FROM THE FLOOR CARPET COVER, THE COVER MAY LEAN TOWARD THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, CAUSING INTERFERENCE WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ROD.
- Consequence: THIS CONDITION MAY INTERFERE WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL RETURNING TO THE IDLE POSITION INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE TWO FLOOR CARPET COVER RETAINING CLIPS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JULY 24, 2006, AND SHOULD BE COMPLETED BY EARLY SEPTEMBER 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT TOYOTA AT 1-800-331-4331 OR LEXUS AT 1-800-255-3987.
- Manufacturer: TOYOTA MOTOR NORTH AMERICA, INC.
- Components: SEAT BELTS:REAR/OTHER
- Summary: CERTAIN SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 210, "SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY ANCHORAGES." THE ANCHOR BOLT FOR THE REAR, LEFT-HAND SIDE SEAT BELT BUCKLE DIRECTLY BEHIND THE DRIVER'S SEAT DOES NOT HAVE SUFFICIENT STRENGTH.
- Consequence: THE REAR SEAT OCCUPANT MAY NOT BE PROPERLY RESTRAINED IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE FREE OF CHARGE THE REAR, LEFT-HAND SIDE SEAT BELT BUCKLE ANCHOR BOLT WITH AN IMPROVED ONE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 3, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT LEXUS AT 800-255-3987.
- Manufacturer: TOYOTA MOTOR NORTH AMERICA, INC.
- Components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BRAKE LIGHTS:SWITCH
- Summary: CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES MAY BE EQUIPPED WITH AN IMPROPERLY DESIGNED BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH. A SILICON OXIDE BUILD-UP OCCURS ON THE CONTACTS INSIDE THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH, WHICH CAN MAKE IT INOPERABLE.
- Consequence: IF THE SWITCH IS INOPERABLE, THE BRAKE LIGHTS WILL NOT ILLUMINATE AND CAN INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH. THE RECALL BEGAN DURING DECEMBER 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT TOYOTA AT 1-800-331-4331.

Positive Lexus Rx330 2004 car reviews

We traded our 01 RX300 for an 04 RX330 and we are thrilled with the improvements. The already excellent vehicle has been taken to a whole new level with the addition of a tilt and telescope wheel, tighter handling, more horsepower, steering wheel mounted stereo controls, and other subtle changes. The new RX is truly outstanding. The navigation system is excellent and very intuitive, while the Levinson sound system is superb. The backup camera is a fantastic addition. Although the DVD entertainment system is very good, it can be a bit overly complicated to use. We highly recommend the outstanding dealership. With reasonable expectations, you can quickly drive away with a fine vehicle and no heartburn.

I came from an Audi S4 Avant, and while this is not a sports vehicle, it performs well. It provides great space for the driver and four passengers while still achieving great gas mileage for an SUV. I am getting approximately 22MPG with highway and city driving. The rear camera is very helpful for otherwise difficult to view backwards. It drives like a car.
-
My wife gave me this car as a gift for my recent promotion, and I must say, it's an amazing gift! Lexus has done an excellent job with the RX redesign, making an already great SUV even better. I love the upscale interior and the sporty exterior. The ride is super smooth, quiet, and surprisingly agile. The extremely soft leather, highly polished wood trim, and little extras make owning a Lexus special. I am extremely pleased with this car and would definitely recommend it to anyone reading this review.
-
I really like this vehicle, although my kids don't seem to enjoy it as much as our LR3 due to the lack of space. However, we don't use it as our family vehicle and it's much better on gas. I got it at a great price, which was hard to pass up, especially with the unpredictable gas prices. The sporty look is fantastic and the features are more than adequate. While I haven't taken it on a road trip yet, I probably won't, and will instead use the minivan. The car handles great and has many features that are not standard in other vehicles. I purchased it used, so let's see how it stands up to the Lexus reputation of quality and endurance.

You've made a great choice by owning this car since new! With 70,000 miles, the car has proven to be extremely reliable. We've found that sticking to the maintenance requirements specified in the owner's manual, rather than going to dealers, has been the best way to ensure the car stays in top condition. After the initial two free services by the Lexus dealer, the car has never needed to go back. While the interior quality of the prior Lexus RX300 may have been slightly better, the performance of this car is excellent when using premium fuel. We recommend avoiding regular fuel to prevent any acceleration hesitation. The original stock tires (Goodyear) were not up to par for this level of car, but the ride and driving experience are still great. We even managed to get an impressive 28 mpg on the highway! Thank you for choosing this car and taking such good care of it.

The vehicle experienced a major malfunction and unfortunately, the warranty was not honored by the dealer. Despite numerous attempts to have the vehicle inspected by the Toyota leasing company, no action was taken. Due to this experience, I have lost confidence in the Lexus and Toyota brands and will not be purchasing their products in the future. It is worth noting that the Toyota website acknowledges the engine design flaw, however, they do not take responsibility for it.

Hey there! If you're considering purchasing this vehicle, I would highly recommend doing some research on the transmission. Many people have reported severe hesitations and issues with acceleration, which can be dangerous. You can find more information on this topic by checking out some online discussion boards or visiting www.dot.gov and doing a quick search. Take care!
Isaias Powlowski 2024-09-10
At 14000 miles, the rotors had to be replaced after the steering wheel began to shake. Then, at 27000 miles, while driving down an 8-mile 7% grade in third gear, I had to brake because the traffic slowed. Suddenly, the steering wheel shook so badly that I had to pull over and let the rotors cool before proceeding. Unfortunately, the rotors had to be replaced for a second time. If you have a paint chip on the bumper, it is advisable not to take the RX330 through a high-pressure car wash as the paint may peel off the bumper, as it did in my case. Lexus will not take responsibility for this issue, even if the car is within warranty. However, I would like to suggest that you take caution while driving the vehicle.
Xander Simonis 2024-08-28
Although I am disappointed, I have owned three Lexus vehicles and have learned that it is wise to avoid purchasing a first-year model. Despite my initial expectations, I have encountered several issues with my current Lexus. In hindsight, I should have waited for a more established model.

This is a reliable and quiet SUV that gets fairly good mpg. However, the driver ergonomics and handling characteristics could be improved. The driver's seat lacks depth and thigh support, and the pedals could be more vertical, causing fatigue during extended driving. Additionally, the steering is too light and easily influenced by road undulations. The transmission can be unresponsive when downshifting, especially when passing or merging at 2200-2400 rpm. Despite these drawbacks, I believe that Lexus designed this SUV with my wife in mind.
