Land rover Range rover velar problems
The Land Rover Range Rover Velar, generally known as the Range Rover Velar, (/ˈvɛlər/) is a crossover SUV produced by British automotive company Jaguar Land Rover under their Land Rover marque. The fourth model in the Range Rover line, the Velar was unveiled on 1 March 2017 in London, England. The Velar was released in the summer of 2017. The name Velar had previously been used for a series of pre-production first-generation Range Rovers in 1969.
The vehicle received a facelift in 2023.
Design
The Range Rover Velar ushers in a new design language for Land Rover that is influenced by Land Rover's previous design language that began with the Evoque and most recently was used in the Range Rover Sport. The new design language features smoother lines on the body, and emphasises sportiness and on-road ability, but more important is the new interior design language that begins with the Velar, which will later spread to other Range Rover models. The interior of the Velar is influenced by that of the Jaguar I-Pace of 2018 and features 3 touchscreens, which control most of the interior features of the Velar. The cockpit of the Velar is more driver-focused and the seating position is lower than any other Land Rover before, as sportiness and on-road performance are top priorities.

Common Land rover Range rover velar problems
The Range Rover Velar, a luxury SUV introduced by Land Rover in 2017, has faced a series of reliability issues, particularly in its early years, causing frustration and costly repairs for owners.
Transmission faults have been a common problem, with some Velars completely shutting down at various speeds due to damaged crankshaft pulley retaining bolts, leading to engine failure.
Electrical issues have also plagued the Velar, with the infotainment system, which also controls the heating, air, and defrost functions, prone to going completely black, requiring the vehicle to be turned off and on again to reboot.
Infotainment freezes have been another issue, with the system becoming unresponsive and requiring a reboot to function properly.
Land Rover has attempted to address some of these issues through software updates and recalls, but the overall reliability of the Velar continues to fall short compared to other luxury SUV options.
In summary, the Range Rover Velar has faced significant reliability issues, particularly in its early years, with transmission faults, electrical problems, and infotainment freezes being common complaints. - Summary: I am the owner of a 2018 Velar Land Rover. Without notice my main door switch has went out on the truck. I cannot adjust my mirrors which is a safety issue. I cannot adjust my mirrors for viewing while I am driving. I also cannot let down any windows and the rear doors are locked on child lock. This is a safety risk for me and my children who ride in the back seat of the vehicle. I have been having problems with this vehicle since I purchased it. I was able to take the vehicle to the same shop that had to replace the starter in the Velar, and they stated to me that it was the main power switch on the driver's door that has gone out, this was last month in August. On 9/25/24 I contacted the dealership to let them know the problem and to make a ticket. I was told that I would have to pay $300.00 for a diagnostic fee and after I pay for the fee that they would see if they could assist with some payment for the repairs. I talked with the supervisor to let her know that I should not have to pay for a diagnostic due to this truck always having repairs/ issues and this is a safety issue, and the main switch should have not gone out already without any notice.

- Summary: I've been having various start/stop issues with my car in the middle of traffic with are real safety issues. My first visit at Land Rover dealership was back on July 12, 2024 for a powertrain recall. Full inspection during that time revealed that everything else worked fine with my car expect that a new set of tires were needed. Since then, I had intermittent window and blinder issues not working and various not functional start/stop feature. I had to replace the window driver switch and recently, I started having start up issues and have changed the battery. Going back to the dealer for inspection, I was informed that the reason why my car will randomly stopped in the middle of traffic is I need an update of my software transmission control module. I feel is a fundamental safety issue that was undetected from previous visit. Other issues that were raised by the dealer include an oil leak and the need to replace both the supercharger adn main drive belt because of oil saturation. I would add that this type of car had a known water pump manufacturing issues that I am not sure has been recalled. I also had to bear the costs of replacing the water pump for my car.I would like Jaguar/Land ROVER to cover these costs of repairs and work with me to address the outstanding issues specially the software related issues.

- Summary: I am writing to bring to your attention a series of critical malfunctions I have experienced with the InControl Touch Pro infotainment system in my 2020 Range Rover Velar. The persistent issues outlined below pose a significant safety risk and warrant immediate action through a comprehensive vehicle recall. USB Connectivity Static: When utilizing the USB connection, the audio output is excessively staticky, compromising the overall driving experience and distracting while driving. Navigation Screen Freezing and Blackout: The navigation screen frequently freezes and blacks out during operation, particularly while driving. This not only hampers the navigational capabilities of the vehicle but also raises serious safety concerns as it interrupts the focus on the road. Real-time Display Failure While Reversing: The infotainment system fails to provide real-time visuals while reversing, as the screen freezes. This deficiency nearly resulted in a collision with a pedestrian at a grocery store I was at when backing up. CarPlay Malfunction: The CarPlay functionality is consistently unreliable, impacting seamless integration with essential mobile applications and causing unnecessary frustration which is distracting while driving. Dropped Calls While Driving: Calls constantly drop during driving, creating an unsafe situation as I have been compelled to divert attention from the road to address the issue, endangering both myself and others on the road. Recurrent Service Visits: My vehicle has already been in for service at Land Rover twice due to these issues, indicating that the problems persist despite attempted resolutions. A comprehensive recall is recommended to rectify these systemic failures. These issues collectively create an environment of unpredictability and compromise the safety of drivers and pedestrians alike. The intermittent nature of these technological malfunctions are examples why the urgency of a vehicle recall to address safety issues.

If you're looking for a vehicle that is full of innovative technology, luxurious finish, and cloud-like comfort with orthopedic support, then look no further. The supercharged 6-cylinder engine can go from 0 to 60 in less time than it took for me to type this sentence. The adjustable air suspension is amazing, especially when loading items in the cargo area or helping family members who benefit from a lowered overall height. This is by far the most beautiful, luxurious, sleek, and fast vehicle I have ever owned. If you're on the fence, I highly recommend going for it. The R-Dynamic HSE model will not disappoint!

I leased a Velar SE Dynamic-R about 2 months ago and I must say, I am really impressed with it. The vehicle's look is what initially caught my attention and I have had zero issues with it so far. Although I was initially concerned about going with the 4-cylinder engine after only having V8s for the past 10 years, the turbo and power from the 4-cylinder were very impressive and adequate for me. The digital screens in the dash and console are amazing and I love being able to project the navigation across the dash. The only issue I have had so far is with the Auto Start/Stop feature. It is defaulted to be on every time you start the car and I have to go into the menu and turn it off every time I get into drive. I wish it was defaulted to off and I only turned it on when I want to use it, which so far is never. Everywhere I go, I get lots of compliments on the car. The red with the black interior and black out kit on the outside with the 21 inch wheels really stands out from the crowd.

I leased the car in Nov 17 and was told it had XM radio which would connect once activated at home. Unfortunately, it did not connect and we had to undo the entire transaction and take our trade back. We then ordered a new Velar with the options we wanted. We were informed that voice activation for navigation would be installed in a few weeks, but it has been two years and we still do not have this important feature. We have scheduled several appointments with the store for both routine and non-routine issues, but it has always been a terrible experience trying to get a loaner and scheduling. They always tell us it will only take a few hours, but end up keeping the car for another day or two. During one of the appointments, the salesman noted that an appointment was made to reinstall the system and help with connectivity issues. We had three of these appointments, and my time is extremely valuable. Finally, last month, after receiving an email from an executive at LandRover, I was able to get the car in and get a loaner within two days. They said they could fix it, but unfortunately, the new software did not work even after my wife followed the instructions to teach the car her voice. I wrote to the VP at corporate to share this yesterday, but still no response. Although my wife and I love the look and lines of the Velar, we are disappointed with the service and the seemingly endless inability to give us what we want and paid for in a timely manner. The last time my wife spoke with Richard, he promised to call her back with the GPS voice activation software status, but unfortunately, he never did. By the way, the car is beautiful! We tell everyone that it's like a gorgeous, incredibly well-built model, with a great personality.

The vehicle has had some issues with power, reliability, and software, as well as quirks in the electrical system and faulty hoses. Additionally, the user interface could benefit from some improvements. However, it's important to note that this is just my personal experience and others may have different opinions.

Hi there! We've had our 2019 Velar for a year and a half now and it's clocked up about 15,000 miles. Unfortunately, we've had a few issues with it and it's been in the shop seven or eight times. We've had to replace the water pump at 2,000 miles and more recently, the hub and bearing in the front. We've also had some problems with updates. While we always thought Range Rovers were beautiful, we've learned that they can be quite challenging to own. We're disappointed with our experience and have decided not to purchase another one of these products again.

I also love the styling and design of the Velar, just like other reviewers. In fact, I was so impressed that I purchased a First Edition. However, I have experienced some ongoing problems with the Velar, such as interior fogging, infotainment system glitches, winter tires not calibrating, battery losing charge and needing roadside assistance to tow. It's disappointing that LR doesn't seem to care about these issues. As a comparison, I have two Audi vehicles and the quality and service are incomparable to that of LR. It's a shame that such great styling can lead us to spend thousands on poor quality. I would love to hear LR's response to these concerns.

I leased the SE R-dynamic, V4 because I was drawn to its modern design and sleek appearance, and I thought, being a Land Rover, it would be a reliable choice. Unfortunately, I have encountered some issues. For example, the windshield cracked and JLR initially attributed it to a stone, but it turned out to be a result of poor quality. I have since learned that many others have experienced the same problem. Additionally, I have found the noise level, engine vibration, and interior ride quality to be less than satisfactory. Despite bringing these concerns to the attention of the JLR dealer, they have insisted that the noise level is normal, which is disappointing given the price point of the car. The stop/start feature has also been problematic, with the car stalling and the restart being quite jarring, causing discomfort for my children. As a result, I have had to disable this feature every time I start the car, which is frustrating and not something I would expect from a car in this price range. While the car certainly looks great, I would not choose to lease it again. In fact, I am looking to swap it out as soon as possible.
