- Summary: The contact owns a 1997 Infiniti QX4. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 11V244000 (Steering, Suspension). The contact stated while driving at 35 MPH and other various speeds over bumps in the roadway, the vehicle was shaking abnormally with the steering wheel becoming difficult to turn to the left or to the right. Additionally, the contact heard abnormal metal on metal grinding sounds particularly while turning the vehicle to the left or the right. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer and was advised that the vehicle had failed a safety inspection and he would be contacted by a third party to buy back the vehicle. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. - Summary: The vehicle is completely rusting underneath and running boards. I was told by Infiniti customer affairs that the recalls had closed for rusted out struts. This impacts driving and can become a safety concern if the struts completely rust away. I'm concerned for my safety or the safety of my family if this failure occurs. The dealerships will not honor a recall that is no longer valid or closed. This is a potential life safety issue.

- Summary: My issues are related to the SAFETY RECALL CAMPAIGN 1997-2003 QX4 IN SALT STATES FRONT STRUT HOUSING CORROSION. I brought my car in for the recall at Infiniti of Bloomington, Minnesota and they only fixed the Driver’s side strut housing using a brace but only painted the Passenger’s side. Now the Passenger’s side strut housing shows corrosion and some perforation but repairable still under the recall. As of today 01/23/2023 The dealer and Infiniti refused to do recall on passenger’s side despite the car is not safe to drive. They knowingly know the passenger’s side will corrode but still let me drive the car with the defective which they refuse to fix.

This is a really well-built SUV. The previous owner had zero problems since buying it new and kept all the records. There was a small front seal leak at 125K, but it was replaced prior to purchase, along with the water pump, just as a precaution. It's very quiet and smooth compared to its Pathfinder sibling.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share some information about my vehicle with you. I am the second owner and purchased it with 41k miles. While it was under warranty, I had some parts replaced including the transmission solenoid kit, both side ball joints, both side outer CV boots, left strut bar, driver seat heated seat switch, viscous coupler (due to noise from the fan), the entire audio system (CD, radio and cassette), driver seat motor, and seat track assembly (due to rocking when moving back and forth), and the cigarette lighter. Unfortunately, I am currently experiencing some issues now that my warranty has expired. Specifically, the air intake solenoid needs to be replaced as the car is pulling hard. Additionally, I am disappointed to report that the rear right side is sitting higher than the left side. I have consulted with the dealer and they have informed me that it is within vehicle specifications (RL:815mm, RR:825mm). Please let me know if you have any advice or suggestions. Thank you!

I had some issues with this car, actually two of them. Unfortunately, they both had the same problems. The transmission was problematic even though the mileage was only 75k. I had to replace the transmission, alternator, pulleys, rotors, and strut. I also had to replace the turn signal stick and muffler pipes. The brakes were not great and the windows were slow. However, if you are interested in buying this car, I would recommend the 2003 model as they may have resolved some of these issues. It's worth being cautious though, as I had to file a lemon law case. Just a heads up!

This was my first car when I was 17 and I went to get it with my grandfather. The first 6 months were great and I really enjoyed driving this SUV. However, I did experience some issues with the rotors, which needed to be repaired twice in the past two years. This car is great, but the oxygen sensors can be a bit of a hassle. With four of them, it can get expensive at $140 each time they need to be replaced. I've already had to change them all, including one twice. It's frustrating to see the 'service engine soon' light come on, especially after just getting the car serviced.
