1995 Infiniti G20 problems
The Infiniti G Line is a series of compact executive cars manufactured and marketed by Infiniti, a luxury division of Nissan, for the 1991–1996 and 1999–2016 model years — across four generations.
The first two generations of the Infiniti G (P10 and P11) were sedans based on the Nissan Primera. Beginning with its third generation (V35), the Infiniti G have been rebadged versions of the Nissan Skyline line of sedans and coupes that were exported to the United States and Canada. The fourth generation (V36) introduced the hardtop coupe convertible. The Nissan FM platform, used with the third and fourth generations (V35 and V36) of the Infiniti G, also underpins the Nissan 370Z and has shared components with the Infiniti M, Infiniti EX, and Infiniti FX.
Infiniti established a new naming convention beginning with the 2014 model year; all passenger cars are designated by the letter "Q," while sport-utility model names begin with "QX." The Infiniti G was to have been replaced by the Infiniti Q50, but the G37 was revived as the Q40 beginning with the 2015 model year.

Common 1995 Infiniti G20 problems
The Infiniti G20, produced between 1995 and 1999, is known for its reliability and affordability. However, like any vehicle, it can experience certain problems over time. Here are some of the most common issues reported by G20 owners:
- EGR passage clogging: The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) passage, which helps reduce emissions, can become clogged. This issue has been reported by 15 G20 owners, and it can lead to a decrease in engine performance and fuel efficiency. Regular maintenance and cleaning of the EGR passage can help prevent this problem.
- Transmission issues: Transmission problems are common in the G20, particularly with the automatic transmission. Some owners have reported that their cars stopped shifting into higher gears, while others have experienced slipping or free revving in fourth gear. These issues can be caused by various factors, including worn-out solenoids, a faulty transmission computer, or internal transmission damage.
- Engine mounts: The engine mounts, which are responsible for securing the engine and absorbing vibrations, can become worn out or damaged. This issue has been reported by several G20 owners, who have experienced engine movement or noise during acceleration or braking. Replacing the damaged engine mounts can help resolve this problem.
- Moonroof leaks: Some G20 owners have reported leaks in the moonroof, which can lead to water damage or mold growth. This issue can be caused by a faulty seal or a damaged moonroof panel. Regular inspection and maintenance of the moonroof can help prevent leaks.
- High oil consumption: The G20's SR20DE engine is known for its high oil consumption, particularly in higher mileage vehicles. This issue can be caused by various factors, including worn-out piston rings or valve guides. Regular oil changes and engine maintenance can help prevent or reduce oil consumption.
In summary, the Infiniti G20 is a reliable and affordable vehicle, but it can experience certain problems over time. Regular maintenance and inspection can help prevent or resolve these issues, ensuring a safe and enjoyable driving experience.

- VIN: JNKCP01D6ST

- Summary: I AM THE OWNER OF A 1995 INFINITI G20 (VIN# [XXX]) WITH 110,135 MILES. ONE DAY, UPON OPENING MY TRUNK TO PLACE GROCERIES IN IT, THE TRUNK SLAMMED DOWN ON THE BACK OF MY HEAD AND NECK WHILE BENDING OVER TO PUT SOME ITEMS DEEP INTO IT. THE TRUNK SLAMMED DOWN WITH SUCH FORCE THAT I ENDED UP WITH A CONCUSSION AND BRUISED SPINE PER 2 DOCTORS THAT EXAMINED ME AFTERWARDS. THE 2 SUPPORTING TRUNK GAS LIFTS WERE WORN, HOWEVER, THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE PRODUCED A FORCE GREAT ENOUGH TO CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR HARM WHEN THE TRUNK IS IN THE FULLY OPEN POSITION. I FEEL THAT THIS IS AN ENGINEERING SAFETY DEFECT ON THE PART OF INFINITI/NISSAN AND SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE TO RECTIFY THIS HORRIBLE SAFETY PROBLEM. THIS TRUNK SHOULD BE CONSIDERED HAZARDOUS. *NLM INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR

POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2001-07-15
- VIN: JNKCP01D4ST
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: THE FIRST REPORT HAS TO DO WITH THE CLUTCH SYSTEM. AT 35,000 MILES ON ROUTINE INSPECTION MY DEALER INFORMED ME THAT CLUTCH CYLINDER NEAR THE CLUTCH PEDAL WAS SEIZING AND CAUSING AN ANNOYING SQUEAK. IT TURNS OUT THE THAT FAILURE OF THIS CYLINDER CAUSED THE PRESSURE PLATE TO NOT RELEASE FROM THE CLUTCH PLATE AS IT NORMALLY SHOULD WHEN TAKEING THE FOOT OFF THE CLUTCH PEDAL. THIS CAUSED THE CLUTCH DISK/PLATE TO EXCESSIVELY WEAR TO THE POINT IT NEEDED REPLACING. MY VEHICLE NOW HAS 59,000 MILES AND THE CYLINDER NEAR THE CLUTCH PEDAL IS SQUEEKING AGAIN... MAKING ME THINK IT IS FAILING AGAIN. I DON'T THINK IT IS NORMAL FOR ME TO REPLACE THIS PART AT MY EXPENSE EVERY 30,000 MILES. I THINK THIS IS A POORLY DESIGNED PART AND THINK THAT INFINITY/NISSAN SHOULD FIND A REPLACEMENT PART THAT DOES NOT FAIL SO OFTEN. THE COST TO ME TO REPLACE THIS EVERYTIME THE CYLINDER FAILS IS IN THE AREA OF $800.00. THE COST INVOLVES THE CYLINDER NEEDING REPLACEMENT AND WELL AS THE TEARDOWN OF THE TRANMISSION SYSTEM TO REPLACE THE CLUTCH DISK/PLATE.*AK
